Australia - The Blue Mountains - Three Sisters & Scenic World
For our last full day in Australia we decided to head somewhere special while on the way to Sydney from Canberra.... The Blue Mountains. We firstly made our way to Katoomba and then to Scenic World, we took the Steepest Railway in the world down to the valley floor and walked the longest elevated Boardwalk in Australia. We then took the Largest Cable car in Australia back to the top and then Australia's highest cable car over to see the Three Sisters. After that we made our way to Wentworth Falls where we got breathtaking views as the sun went down.... My favourite day of the trip? It's a close one.

AUSTRALIA - A stroll around Leura, Blue Mountains NSW
Leura is a suburb in the City of Blue Mountains area that is located 100 kilometres (62 mi) west of the Sydney central business district in New South Wales, Australia. It is one of the series of small towns stretched along the Main Western railway line and Great Western Highway that bisects the Blue Mountains National Park. Leura is situated adjacent to Katoomba, the largest centre in the upper mountains, and the two towns merge along Leura's western edge.
The original inhabitants of the area were the Dharug people. Archaeological evidence at Lyrebird Dell in South Leura suggests that Aboriginal occupation of the region may date back more than 12,000 years.
The first Europeans to enter the area, in 1813, was the expedition of Gregory Blaxland, William Lawson and William Charles Wentworth. They were followed by the expedition of George Evans in November 1813 and the road-building party of William Cox in the following year.
When the western railway line was constructed across the Blue Mountains in 1867–68, a gatehouse (No 9) was erected where the line crossed the Western Road near the present Sorensen Bridge. The gatekeepers were the first permanent European residents of the area, Another early presence occurred following the discovery of coal in the Jamison Valley below the present Leura golf course in the early 1880s, which led to the establishment of a colliery.
It is a gorgeous little town filled with lovely places to eat and a wonderful place for a weekend getaway!

Travel: Tour the Blue Mountains in 3 Minutes! (near Sydney, Australia)
Through a tour by Happy Travels, we were able to get a round trip ride from Sydney to Katoomba, have a small lunch, and hike around the Blue Mountains like a local for $50AUD per person (It was down from $70 when we booked the night before). A guide picked us up at Kings Cross fountain in a 21 passenger shuttle around 7am, and we got back around 5pm. Lots of hiking, not much phone service, but a lot of fun!

A tour of Katoomba | 3 Sisters | Blue mountains | scenic world | Sydney | #vlog2 | Erfahrung daily
A tour of Katoomba | 3 Sisters | Blue mountains | scenic world | Sydney | #vlog2 | Erfahrung daily
Katoomba is the most visited town in the Blue Mountains.
The Three Sisters at Echo Point:
A visit to the Blue Mountains would not be complete without viewing the spectacular Three Sisters at Echo Point.
Directions to the Three Sisters are well signposted. Either take Katoomba Street or Lurline Street to Echo Point Road.
The Three Sisters is approximately 2.5 kilometres from the Great Western Highway or Katoomba Railway Station.
The famous Giant Stairway is also found at Echo Point. If you are enthusiastic and energetic,
you can take the 800 steps down to the floor of the valley.
Scenic World
The Scenic Railway is the steepest railway incline in the world and is now one of the most popular man-made
tourist attractions in Australia.
The ride takes you down the steep descent past Orphan Rock, through a tunnel and the beautiful fern-damp cliff face.
Adjacent to the Scenic Railway is the Scenic Cableway, the steepest aerial cable car in Australia.
The Scenic Cableway takes you on a 545 metre ride into the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area
rainforest of the Jamison valley. Scenic World also features a spectacular Scenic Walkway.
A popular option for visitors is to descend into the valley via the Scenic Railway, stroll
along the Scenic Walkway and ascend to the top via the Scenic Cableway.
Also at the same site is the magnificent Scenic Skyway. The original Skyway was Australia’s first cable
Skyway for passengers and was built in 1958. The new Skyway with a glass bottom floor,
can carry up to 84 passengers across the Jamison Valley at a height of 200 metres. The views are breathtaking.
You can cover all of these places in one day, but make sure that you should visit early, max by 11 AM to enjoy all
the attractions properly.
you would be free by 6 pm and after that you can utilize your evening, either you can go for a dinner, or if it is
weekend then you can go to the city at darling harbour and enjoy your evening.

Sydney | Is a day trip to the Blue Mountains worth it?
Today we took a day trip out to the Blue Mountains which is about a 2 hour train ride from Sydney.
We started in Katoomba and saw the Three Sisters at Echo Point lookout which is just a short walk from where the buses drop off.
We hiked the Prince Henry Cliff Walk starting from Echo Point via Leura Cascades. From the trail, there are numerous lookout points, each offering stunning views of the valley.
We finished with a delicious and well deserved lunch at the Bakehouse on Wentworth before catching the train from Leura back to Sydney.
