Eric Hanson drops into Australia's Grand Canyon in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales for a multi-day hiking trip. Surrounded by arresting sandstone walls, ever-present waterfalls and abundant native plants, Eric and Mark start out on the Grand Canyon Track before continuing down Rodriguez Pass into the Grose Valley, where Eric narrowly misses stepping on a brown snake on the track.

Australia - The Blue Mountains - Three Sisters & Scenic World
For our last full day in Australia we decided to head somewhere special while on the way to Sydney from Canberra.... The Blue Mountains. We firstly made our way to Katoomba and then to Scenic World, we took the Steepest Railway in the world down to the valley floor and walked the longest elevated Boardwalk in Australia. We then took the Largest Cable car in Australia back to the top and then Australia's highest cable car over to see the Three Sisters. After that we made our way to Wentworth Falls where we got breathtaking views as the sun went down.... My favourite day of the trip? It's a close one.

Katoomba Scenic World Railway
In this video we see and take a ride on the Scenic Railway, situated at Scenic World situated in the town on Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. Originally built in the 1880's to extract oil shade and coal, the railway today is a highly popular tourist attraction. With a maximum incline of 52 degrees, the railway is the worlds steepest funicular railway. The railway begins at the Scenic World building and descends 310 meters into Jamison Valley where patrons can explore the rain-forest & walking tracks.
Date: 4th February 2014.

Katoomba Scenic World is a privately owned tourist attraction located in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains, New South Wales, Australia, about 100 kilometres west of Sydney.
Travel: Tour the Blue Mountains in 3 Minutes! (near Sydney, Australia)
Through a tour by Happy Travels, we were able to get a round trip ride from Sydney to Katoomba, have a small lunch, and hike around the Blue Mountains like a local for $50AUD per person (It was down from $70 when we booked the night before). A guide picked us up at Kings Cross fountain in a 21 passenger shuttle around 7am, and we got back around 5pm. Lots of hiking, not much phone service, but a lot of fun!

Scenic World at Katoomba is the most visited place in the upper Blue Mountains of NSW. It may be highly commercialised, but it provides easy access to the Jamison Valley below and reveals the beauty and wonder of the Mountains to thousands who would never visit the area.
This video shows you some of the features of this not-to-be -missed place.

There was quite a bit of work done on the track from Echo Point to the Three Sisters during 2014/2015. This was our first visit since then.
This is one of the most used tracks in the Blue Mountains. Thank you to the National Parks and Wildlife Service and the Blue Mountains City Council for maintaining this magnificent place.

SCENIC WORLD - Katoomba, Blue Mountains, NSW, Australia
A travel video of our day-trip to Scenic World in Katoomba, Blue Mountains, NSW. This is a huge attraction for those visiting Sydney, Australia. The four main highlights include the Skyway Cable Car (takes you to the other side of the valley where there are bush walks and the Katoomba Falls), The Walkway (a walkway through lush rainforest, filled with animatronic dinosaurs on the day that we visited. It is also often filled with scupltures), The Cableway (takes you back up the valley to the main building) and The Railway (the world's steepest railway ride, taking in breathtaking views of The Blue Mountains themselves).

The old track to the Orphan Rock at Katoomba is easy to find and follow. It continues on to the summit of the rock, but I am not saying you should follow it there, especially knowing that the track was closed many years ago for safety reasons.

Blue Mountains National Park | walks near Katoomba
In this episode, I travel to Blue Mountains National Park and do some day walking on the beautiful tracks in and around the park. The town of Katoomba was base for me at this time and among some of the highlights in this video are Echo Point, the Three Sisters, the Prince Henry Cliff Walk, Katoomba Falls, and the Ruined Castle Rock Formation. I also see my first wild goanna, a lyrebird, and I get really close to a couple cockatoos. I hope you enjoyed this episode - this is only the first of a handful of videos I will be releasing from my time in Blue Mountains National Park.
This video is part of a series of videos depicting my travels in Australia as I lived there for an entire year on a “Work and Holiday Visa.” Please consider subscribing for more videos from the beautiful land down under as well as other backpacking and adventure travel videos!

Katoomba is the most visited town in the Blue Mountains.
The Three Sisters at Echo Point:
A visit to the Blue Mountains would not be complete without viewing the spectacular Three Sisters at Echo Point.
Directions to the Three Sisters are well signposted. Either take Katoomba Street or Lurline Street to Echo Point Road.
The Three Sisters is approximately 2.5 kilometres from the Great Western Highway or Katoomba Railway Station.
The famous Giant Stairway is also found at Echo Point. If you are enthusiastic and energetic,
you can take the 800 steps down to the floor of the valley.
Scenic World
The Scenic Railway is the steepest railway incline in the world and is now one of the most popular man-made
tourist attractions in Australia.
The ride takes you down the steep descent past Orphan Rock, through a tunnel and the beautiful fern-damp cliff face.
Adjacent to the Scenic Railway is the Scenic Cableway, the steepest aerial cable car in Australia.
The Scenic Cableway takes you on a 545 metre ride into the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area
rainforest of the Jamison valley. Scenic World also features a spectacular Scenic Walkway.
A popular option for visitors is to descend into the valley via the Scenic Railway, stroll
along the Scenic Walkway and ascend to the top via the Scenic Cableway.
Also at the same site is the magnificent Scenic Skyway. The original Skyway was Australia’s first cable
Skyway for passengers and was built in 1958. The new Skyway with a glass bottom floor,
can carry up to 84 passengers across the Jamison Valley at a height of 200 metres. The views are breathtaking.
You can cover all of these places in one day, but make sure that you should visit early, max by 11 AM to enjoy all
the attractions properly.
you would be free by 6 pm and after that you can utilize your evening, either you can go for a dinner, or if it is
weekend then you can go to the city at darling harbour and enjoy your evening.

Blue Mountains Walks: The Rainforest Walkway Scenic World Katoomba NSW Australia
PLEASE SUBSCRIBE!
This walk is one of the easier ones at Katoomba, after you've come down into the valley by the Scenic Railway, of course.
As the Scenic World complex developed from a coal mine at the base of the cliffs, it has always been possible to glimpse some of the fascinating history of the place by walking along the track from the bottom of the Scenic Railway.
The proprietors have, in recent years, developed a network of boardwalks so that the visitor can appreciate the rainforest which grows on the slopes below the cliffs. The simplest walk is to the landing stage of the Cableway, but you can easily spend several hours enjoying this beautiful place.
Come along with members of my family as we go boardwalking!
