Seven Mile Beach | Cayman Islands Sotheby's International Realty | Caribbean
Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman - Moving to the west of George Town, you will travel along the West Bay Road which features the world famous crescent of Seven Mile Beach, a truly spectacular stretch of pure white sand which plays home to some of the finest luxury beach front properties within the Cayman Islands and the Caribbean with enviable ocean views and state-of-the-art amenities.
New construction is limited in this area but the length of Seven Mile Beach is fringed with condominiums which have either been very recently constructed or are well-established. The building code in the Cayman Islands has historically prevented the development of high rise condominium blocks which means that Seven Mile Beach remains a peaceful paradise with some of the least dense beach front real estate offerings in the Caribbean. The variety of property available on Seven Mile Beach however is great starting from an entry point of around US$300k right up to the super luxury residences to be found at The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman, Water's Edge, Caribbean Club and Water Colour's which can run into eight figure sums. Choose from family-friendly properties with lots of excellent lifestyle amenities such as tennis courts, swimming pools and gyms, as well as higher-end homes that incorporate the latest designs, materials and fixtures and fittings into a contemporary and luxurious property. Residences at The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman offer all the luxury lifestyle choices associated with hotel including the spectacular Silver Rain a La Prairie Spa, world class dining at Blue by Eric Ripert and a Nick Bollettieri designed tennis program, the coach behind such tennis greats as Andre Agassi, Monica Seles and Maria Sharapova.
On the east of the West Bay Road, running parallel to Seven Mile Beach, upscale condominiums and homes line the canals that bisect the land, creating local communities all along this stretch of Grand Cayman which overlooks the waterfront playground of the North Sound. The Ritz-Carlton Residences stand proudly on Seven Mile Beach, and the Resort as a whole straddles the entire width of the West Bay Road with the Ritz-Carlton Deckhouses overlooking the canals on the North Sound. On the North Sound side of the road a diverse selection of properties to suit a variety of budgets and a select collection of contemporary, luxury homes, many with their own boat deck, pool and incredible private view of the North Sound. The major waterfront developments with North Sound boat access are, starting south & working north: Camana Bay, Britannia Golf Resort, Snug Harbour, Canal Point, The Ritz-Carlton Deckhouses & The North Sound Club Golf Course, Crystal Harbour including The Grand Caymanian a Ramada Resort, Governor's Harbour, Cayman Islands Yacht Club, Vista del Mar and the newly developed Salt Creek a gated residential waterfront community of luxury homes. #CaymanIslandsSothebysrealty #sothebysrealty #CaymanIslandsrealestate

A Day in George Town, Grand Cayman Islands (December 2017)
This was the first Port of call on our Norwegian Jade cruise on December 20, 2017. Hope you enjoy it. If you go there take a 20 minute walk to the 7 mile beach. It's white sands and blue waters are simply too enticing to miss. Then take the public bus for US$1 per person back to the port area. There are no bus stops because you can just wave to the public bus and it will stop and pick you up. Real convenient. Eat at any of the restaurants near the port, especially Margaritaville. You can't miss it. Take a walk around the area. There are some very high end stores there, if that's your fancy. Even if you don't shop, there is quite a bit to see. You could also take a tour of the island, in which case, you would need to do it as soon as you are off the ship.
We captured such beautiful photos of this place that we had to print them out and put it in our travel jounal. To do this we used the super convinient
HP Sprocket Portable Photo Printer which we purchased here -

Open Water Source presents Ben Stubenburg and the West Indies Bluewater Swim Series (Part 1 of 2)
Website:
...
Part 1 of 2:
Steven Munatones Interviews Ben Stubenburg regarding the West Indies Bluewater Swim Series
Four top open water swim races in the beautiful Caribbean Sea have formed the West Indies Bluewater Swim Series for 2011. This new series will prove to be a great catalyst for both local and international athletes to come together in the beautifully warm and colorful oceans waters throughout the Caribbean region. These races span and reflect the diversity of the West Indian islands.
The series spans from the north with the Turks & Caicos (just below the Bahamas) to the west with the Cayman Islands to the south with Trinidad (just above Venezuela) and Nevis in the middle. The diversity and beauty of this new island series is unparalleled - and a welcomed precursor to the future.
As the popularity and participation in open water swim racing continues to grow worldwide, the West Indies Swim Series aims to grow with it. The series will undoubtedly foster the excitement, inclusiveness, and goodwill that are indigenous in the sport. Building upon this spirit, the West Indies Swim Series expects swimmers of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to take part - whether they swim to win or simply swim for fitness and their own personal goals. The four initial races in this series have attracted some of the best swimmers in the world, including several Olympians, as well as recreational, youth and adult swimmers who enjoy the special challenge and camaraderie of open water swimming.
Each race will continue to be run independently with its own unique character and distinctive attractions, but the West Indies Swim Series will jointly elevate and promote the region as a world class destination for competition and training.
On March 27th, the series kicks off with the StarMile2.5 Nevis-St. Kitts Cross Channel Swim, a rare and exciting inter-island channel swim. Nevis offers old-style Caribbean tranquility in tandem with one of the most dynamic environments in the region, a place where international elite athletes come to train and compete with outstanding, fun-loving local talent.
The next stop on the series is the June 18th Flowers Sea Swim, a very popular one-mile swim that takes swimmers through crystal-clear water and past tropical fish along majestic Seven-Mile Beach in the Cayman Islands. On this beautifully fast flat course, swimmers range from 8 to 80.
Novices going for their first big swim mix with Olympic medalists for a spirited, friendly race. This race offers what is easily the biggest random prize drawing anywhere.
On July 9th, the Turks & Caicos hosts the Race for the Conch Eco-SeaSwim in the spectacularly clear, calm, turquoise waters of Grace Bay on the island of Providenciales. World champions swim alongside visiting and local swimmers through beautiful marine life with plenty of camaraderie. This environmentally tuned event features 1 mile and 2.4 mile race, and a 100-meter children's swim.
The series culminates on September 25th with the Maracas Bay Open Water Classic in Trinidad. The race takes place at the base of a breathtaking rainforest sloping down from Trinidad's northern mountains for a most exotic setting. This long-running, welcoming race, where top ranked international swimmers compete against active and talented local swim clubs, features 2.5K and 5K distances and a 700-meter children's swim.
In the future, a West Indies Bluewater Championship Race is being created for 2012 that will draw qualifiers from the top swimmers from the West Indies Swim Series as well as provide an open race venue for all swimmers.
The four founding race organizations of the West Indies Swim Series recognize that great open water swim racing also have additional three goals.
(1) The West Indies Swim Series will support and encourage more West Indians to learn to swim while identifying and developing local talent for international competition. (2) The West Indies Swim Series will spotlight the need to protect the oceans and reefs that are critical to our sport and an essential part of our common heritage. (3) The West Indies Swim Series will be an advocate for helping those in greatest need in this special part of the world through the positive influence of sport.
The series website gives a hint of the beauty, camaraderie and excitement that the series will undoubtedly offer.
A great start in a great part of the world for absolutely gorgeous open water swimming - for top-level swimmers and swimmers of all ages and abilities.
Ben Stubenburg will appear on Open Water Wednesday this week to explain.

Snorkel in the Cayman Islands
While Cayman remains one of the most renowned diving destinations in the Caribbean, many take to the ocean here with a snorkel and mask. Learn techniques from our skilled operators and embark on excursions like a half-day cruise with lunch and several stops. At Stingray City, for example, you can reach out and touch one of our most famous underwater residents. Or, at other noteworthy sites such as the West Bay Cemetery Beach, you can swim among some of the most unspoiled coral reefs in the entire Caribbean Sea.

Ocho Rios Jamaica Cruise Port & Island Village Margaritaville Beach (4K)
Take a look at what Ocho Rios Jamaica Cruise Port & Island Village Margaritaville Beach were like from our eyes in a vlog format. We had fun overall by just staying near the cruise port terminal area. There was a beach at a Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville within about 10 minutes of walking, in a shopping center called Island Village.
The beach was free to get into though you would pay extra for lounge chairs with umbrellas. We chose to just lay down a towel at a shady area and enjoyed the beach just the same. The waters were a bit chilly in spots even though it was July, and the area was pretty crowded with the presence of our ship the Holland America Veendam, and a huge MSC Seaside. It wasn't too bad though as you can see.
Later on we perused Island Village which has quite a few stores for those people looking for shopping, though lower prices could be found nearby the cruise terminal building where there were plenty of local Jamaican vendors hawking goods. We also tried Mr James' Jerk Chicken by a local vendor nearby- you can't miss the cart as they kept repeated broadcasting the message over loud speakers: Jerk Chicken & Rice & Beans or Jerk Chicken & Hardo Sliced Bread. Yeah Man We Still the Best Man. Welcome to Jamaica. Best in Lifetime. Yeah Man Still Going On.
If you were looking to get further away, we saw a chart of taxi prices- just be sure to double check with the driver of the agreed upon price before leaving.
This was from our Cuba Cruise aboard the Holland America ms Veendam, stopping in Jamaica in July 2018.
Roatan PRIVATE Powerboat, Reefs, Shipwreck Snorkel and Private Beach Excursion
For this Roatan Private Power Boat Snorkel and Private Beach Shore Excursion the crew will pick you up at the cruise ship pier and transport you to the local dock where your powerboat is waiting for your private day excursion to Blue Channel, Spooky Channel and the Palmetto Bay ship wreck.
Your ride for the day is a super fast, very nice v-hull boat designed to hold up to 20 passengers comfortably. It comes complete with a restroom, cushioned lounging area in the front bow area as well as a large U-shaped seating area in the back. There is plenty of shaded area as well as spots for those wishing to work on their tans. The captain and crew will assist in taking care of all your needs throughout the entire day.
The boats are built for speed and will get you to your first snorkel site at Blue Channel quickly. The guide will go over all of your snorkel gear and assist you with the fit before you slip into the clear, turquoise blue water. Blue Channel is teaming with marine life and is a great snorkeling location for beginners as well as experienced snorkelers. Be on the lookout for some of the numerous species including puffers, tangs and grunts. You will spend about 45 minutes exploring the shallow Roatan coral reef before getting back on board and zipping over to your next snorkel spot.
Spooky Channel is site #2 on your adventure. You will re-enter the water and immediately be amazed at the giant coral heads and friendly parrot fish swimming in and among the reef below you. This is one of the premier sites for divers and snorkelers and is known for being home to some very, very large groupers. It gets its name from the green algae in the shallows of nearby Sandy Bay lagoon...giving it a spooky appearance. There is a delicious selection of beverages and snacks that will be served to you on board after your 45 minutes exploring Spooky Channel.
Your third snorkel spot will be the famous Palmetto Bay ship wreck. A sunken cargo freighter makes a great home to some very colorful tropical fish. You will enjoy 30 minutes in the water and observe the moving kaleidoscope swimming below you. Then you will be off to your final stop of the day...lunch on a private beach.
You will arrive at a private beach where you will find tables laid out along the water. The crew will serve you a yummy grilled lobster lunch complete with champagne and fresh made coconut bread! There will also be an open bar for you as well. You will have a little bit of time to stroll the beach before heading back to the pier.

Beach at Grand Cayman
Beach at GRAND CAYMAN
We started the first shore excursion with a visit to the beach at Grand Cayman. We took the tender to the island. Some people were dissapointed for their canceled snokel & diving trips to the other side of the island because strong wind and rain that day. The beach was very beautiful with blue and very clear water. One could see everything to the bottom of the sea. Our kids found many coral easily as well..We enjoyed the beach very much. They were 4 other cruise ships in during the christmas period, calling the same ports.
