The Sunshine Coast is famous for its beautiful long sandy beaches, and with so many idyllic beaches on offer, there's a stretch of sand to suit every occasion.
So we made our way just north of Brisbane to escape for a few days to Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
From the moment you dig your toes into the golden sand or breathe in the clean hinterland air, you'll begin to feel different.
After checking out some of the great beaches we made our way through the Sunshine Coasts Hinterland to enjoy some breath-taking views. The scene-stealing Glasshouse Mountains are the headline act, and are ably supported by lush rainforests, mist-shrouded waterfalls, and spectacular flora and fauna.
Australia Zoo is in the foothills of the Hinterland is the home of the famous Steve Irwin also known as the Crocodile Hunter. this place will definitely provide you with some up close and personal wildlife experiences.

30 Tips for Backpacking in New Zealand ➜
-- About this video --
Today we are leaving Nelson city but not without a stop at Tahunanui Beach just on the way out of Nelson. Then we have a long drive to Golden Bay over Takaka Hill!
The drive is tough but stunning as we go over karst open landscape that Takaka Hill is famous for. We arrive in Golden Bay and head straight to our first activity in the area: Te Waikoropupu Springs or Pupu Springs.
The entrance is guarded by Maori carvings to show the Maori significance of the area. We enter the Te Waikoropupu Springs walk with respect and make our way to Pupu Springs in Golden Bay.
We are met with the sight of the most stunningly clear water we have ever seen with a super blue colour. Te Waikoropupu Springs is a natural wonder not to be missed in New Zealand.
So what do you think of Te Waikoropupu Springs? Would you visit Pupu Springs in Golden Bay?

10. Hvar
Croatia’s Hvar island is the 4th largest of the country's islands and covers an area of around 182 square miles. The weather is glorious here, with up to 2,800 hours of sunshine each year, but just enough rain to ensure the vineyards and fields of lavender, rosemary, and sage carpet the island with color.
9. Bali
Perhaps you’ve heard of it? (Wink). Bali is the westernmost island of the Lesser Sunda island chain- a group of volcanic formations that are a part of Indonesia. Just the word Bali makes people think of paradise. With crystal clear waters, golden sands, and a wealth of culture… it’s no surprise that Bali is the top tourist destination in Indonesia, with as much as 80% of the island’s economy relying upon visitors.
8. St. Lucia
The Caribbean has so many different amazing islands, but St Lucia is definitely one of the best. So I’ve heard, unfortunately not from personal experience! It has glorious beaches, just as you'd expect, but they aren't necessarily St Lucia's most stand out assets. The Pitons, the twin volcanic peaks of the island, rise more than 2,200 feet from the ocean and look down across the beautiful landscape.
7. Palawan
Palawan island is often described as the Philippines' last frontier and is the fifth largest island in the country. It's on the border between the South China Sea and the Sulu Sea, and the majority of the land remains undeveloped. Covered by lush jungle, mountains, white sandy beaches, and abundant wildlife, it’s no surprise that Palawan has regularly been named the most beautiful island in the world.
6. Capri
Located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, to the south of Italy, Capri is one of the oldest resort destinations in the world- having been a popular retreat since Roman times! Sea stacks and cliffs rise from the gloriously azure waters, with colorful flowers growing as far as the eye can see. One of the most famous sights here is the blue grotto; a sea cave with perfect acoustics that lights up when the sun's rays beam in.
5. Bora Bora
One of Tahiti's most famous islands, Bora Bora is an amazing island in the South Pacific Ocean. Known as the jewel of the south seas, the color of the waters here are unreal! The island is shaped like a giant sombrero, but despite its lush vegetation, it's the surrounding ocean that makes this place so special. It's surrounded by a large coral ring, that protects the shoreline and acts as a shelter for a wide range of sea life.
4. Whitsunday Islands
The Whitsundays are a chain of 74 islands off the coast of Queensland in Australia. They are right in the center of the great barrier reef and offer plenty of secluded beaches, friendly towns, and the chance to explore one of the largest areas of biodiversity in the world. You can take seaplane or helicopter trips to see the huge natural structure from high up or dive deep to see it up close.
3. Fiji
The Republic of Fiji is a series of more than 330 islands, which lie about 1,300 miles to the northeast of New Zealand. Formed around 150 million years ago by volcanic activity, the islands are still geothermically active and have a number of springs. The islands have been inhabited for more than 4000 years, and have retained their rich Austronesian, Melanesian, and Polynesian heritage.
2. Ko Phi Phi
The Phi Phi’s are a chain of islands that lie between Phuket and the Straits of Malacca coast of Thailand. Ko Phi-Phi is the name given to two of the islands, Phi-Phi Don and Phi-Phi Leh, which are very popular tourist destinations. The two islands couldn't be more different from each other. The largest, Phi-Phi Don has a party atmosphere, with countless hotels, restaurants, clubs, and shops.
1. The Cook Islands
The Cook Islands, in the South Pacific Ocean, are made up of 15 individual land masses. They were first inhabited in the 6th century by a group of Polynesian people who had traveled there from nearby Tahiti and were first visited by western explorers in the 16th century.
Origins Explained is the place to be to find all the answers to your questions, from mysterious events and unsolved mysteries to everything there is to know about the world and its amazing animals!

Into The Sunshine - North Stradbroke Island
Into the Sunshine is a series of short films directed by filmmaker Matt Raimondo that will take you into the lives of some remarkable Queenslanders, showcasing their powerful connection to the environment.
This episode introduces us to “Barefoot” Dave Thelander, known on North Stradbroke Island for his love of the laceless and 4WD eco tours. Dave’s Straddie Kingfisher Tours invites newcomers to explore the natural beauty of the island – his home, his passion, his bliss.
Barefoot Dave first lived on the island in the 1960s, while his father set up a fishing business at Amity Point. Dave left to join the air force in 1974, then returned a decade later with his wife Margaret to raise their own family. After so many years living on North Stradbroke, Dave still has an honest appreciation for its environment and community.
Running half and full-day tours, Dave takes people all over the island. “You can stop every 20 minutes and find something new. That’s what I love about it”. Dave finds his work relaxing: teaching people about the land, the lakes, bush tracks and wildlife.
Some tours involve kayaking, sandboarding, fishing and watching the marine life. The island coast runs parallel to the most concentrated water passage of humpback whales anywhere in the world, offering spectacular sights on a regular basis. With golden beaches stretching 32km, North Stradbroke is the second-largest sand island in the world and just a 20 minute boat ride outside of Brisbane.

I apologize as some of the footage is foggy.
Pittwater YHA Kayaking
Pittwater is just North of Sydney and is part of the Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park. Pittwater YHA is a great little gem, with fantastic views and lovely hostel accommodation it a must for any backpacker. On the weekend I visited, it was running a Bush Regeneration project or weeding project. The idea being you stayed at the hostel and weeding invasive plants for four hours a day and then you got the afternoon off to do what you liked. Opt-ing to go kayaking, both afternoons I went out with two fellow volunteers both days over the weekend.
The kayaking was fantastic. The water was warm and full of sea creatures, from jellyfish to sting rays. Just a great place to visit as you will see from the video.
