We drove a motorhome across the Cook Strait - not really, we brought it on a ferry. We used Bluebridge Ferries because there was a coupon code - but it was still expensive (mostly because of how long our rig was). We boarded the ferry from Wellington to Picton!
PS: Next time we'll try out the Interislander!

The Cook Straits Interislander ferry from Wellington to Picton underwent an extremely rough crossing in March 2006. Many vehicles were severely damaged but a 1969 VW camper van survived unmarked!
