The batches of whiskey they produce are aged for two years before they are bottled. They as well have a feature where you can bottle your own batch; by picking you bottle, pouring the bourbon from the barrel, labeling the bottle and waxing/stamping the bottle.
Tours and tastings are 5 dollars and usually last 30 minutes long.
Single barrel at 750 ml bottle is 60 bucks (Handle)
Single barrel at 375 ml bottle is 40 bucks (Pint)
Cherry Cider Finish is 50 bucks at 750 ml and they just have that in a handle as supplies last (bottled 330).
Wheat is 50 bucks at 750 ml and they just have that in a handle
The proofs range from 90 Proof to 115 Proof
Bluegrass currently distributes to Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois, and Virginia.
They are trying to get a few more states in the lineup for the end of the year into next year but unfortunately, North Carolina will most likely not be on that list for a while.
And what makes a bourbon is that it has to be at least 51% corn in the mixture to be considered that. There is a miss conception that if bourbon is not produced in Kentucky it is not considered a bourbon. Which is actually false, bourbons can be made in the United States and classified as a bourbon. But it just cannot be made out of the United States to be classified as a Bourbon.
RED Episode #57: Run the Bluegrass and Local Food and Beverage in Lexington, Kentucky
Source:
Welcome to episode 57! We just got back from an amazing trip to Lexington, KY and we have so much to share with you!
RUN
This week the Run Eat Drink Podcast is in Lexington, KY to Run the Bluegrass! Run the Bluegrass includes a Yearling (3.65 mile), a 7-miler, and a half-marathon course, starting at the Keeneland Race Course, taking participants through picturesque countryside past storied horse farms responsible for many of the celebrated thoroughbreds. The course was stunningly beautiful and hilly and taught us a thing or two about terrain, preparation, and making adjustments on the fly. This race also has some amazing merchandise, a winner of an expo, and an after-party that's a blast.
EAT
This week we have almost all tastes covered. The food scene in and around Lexington is exploding and we found four spots you have to try if you are in the area. Smithtown Seafood is cooking up fresh seafood in a traditional southern fashion with their Kentucky Proud Catfish and Grits. But, they are also experimenting with flavors and textures not normally seen in southern cooking. Their Singapore Shrimp Wrap is putting an asian noodle dish, paired with formal breaded fried shrimp, and wrapping it in a tortilla! Crazy, right? Crazy GOOD!
Have a hankering for Southern BBQ? Look no further than Red State BBQ! This little spot on a country road by a motel and a horse farm is making local favorites like beer cheese with pretzels, brisket, and ribs with sides like macaroni and cheese and corn pudding. They have a variety of house-made sauces to let you experience regional differences in BBQ from Alabama white (Show Horse), to North Carolina vinegar, South Carolina Mustard, Texas hot, and more. Warm peach bread pudding is for dessert, so save room.
Looking for breakfast? We have you covered. Windy Corner Market is a little country store out on a rural road across from...you guessed it...horse farms. With lines almost out the door, these folks are feeding the masses traditional southern breakfast of eggs, sausage, and gravy, and some things that put a news spin on some old classics, like a breakfast po'boy with bacon, eggs, and fried oysters!
Finally, if you are in the mood for something from south of the border, who knew that Lexington, KY was home to some AMAZING Mexican food? Well, it is, and Papi's Mexican Restaurant and Bar is serving up some old recipes and some new modern classics, like the Cazuela de Rajas Poblanas, a Creamy Sauce of queso fresco, sautéed onion, and poblano peppers served with tortillas for dipping or to make messy tacos. Or how about some more non-traditional items like a hibiscus taco!
DRINK
Brewing and distilling are part of Kentucky heritage. We take you on a tour of some places that are keeping that heritage alive. West Sixth Brewing is serving up a variety of original beers that pair so nicely with the food from Smithtown Seafood which is adjacent to them. They are also working hard to improve their community through charitable giving and partnerships. Their Pay it Forward Cocoa Porter is a must-try!
Alltech Lexington Brewing Company is another brewer that is not only part of the city's rich history but a company that is maintaining that tradition. These folks make the ever-popular Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, but we got to sample several others including a Blackberry Porter, The Kentucky Coffee Cream Ale, and the Kentucky Kolsch. They also own Town Branch distilling which is serving up about 14 different spirits.
finally, Country Boy Brewing is a popular local brewery whose wares can be found all over Lexington's dining establishments. Delicious beers with catchy names are their stock-in-trade like Cougar Bait, which is a light, crisp, American blonde ale. Or Shotgun Wedding, which is a brown ale aged on vanilla beans.

Lexington's Craft Beer Breweries | Kentucky Life | KET
Craft breweries are building a loyal following nationwide, even finding a niche in the land of bourbon. Kentucky Life visits two Lexington breweries to meet the folks behind West Sixth and Country Boy breweries.
Country Boy Brewing, whose logo features a pickup truck, is run by three men with country roots: Evan Coppage, Jeff Beagle, and Daniel Harrison. Located near the University of Kentucky campus off Broadway, the brewery offers a number of unique ales, including Jalapeno Smoked Porter, and coffee stouts as well.
West Sixth Brewery is located on Lexington's north side in an old bread factory. The brewery's owners hope the business will be a key fixture in the revitalized neighborhood. They offer locally made pretzels and beer cheese, and they are the only Kentucky brewery that cans beer.

One of the major regions in Kentucky is the Bluegrass Region in central Kentucky which houses two of its major cities, Louisville and Lexington. It is a land with diverse environments and abundant resources, including the world's longest cave system, Mammoth Cave National Park, the greatest length of navigable waterways and streams in the contiguous United States, and the two largest man-made lakes east of the Mississippi River.Kentucky is also known for horse racing, bourbon distilleries, the historic site My Old Kentucky Home, automobile manufacturing, tobacco, bluegrass music, college basketball, and Kentucky Fried Chicken.Kentucky maintains eight public four-year universities. There are two general tiers: major research institutions (the University of Kentucky and the University of Louisville) and regional universities, which encompasses the remaining 6 schools. The regional schools have specific target counties that many of their programs are targeted towards (such as Forestry at Eastern Kentucky University or Cave Management at Western Kentucky University), however most of their curriculum varies little from any other public university. My old Kentucky home lyrics :
The sun shines bright in the Old Kentucky Home.
'Tis summer, the people are gay,
The corn top's ripe and the meadow's in the bloom,
While the birds make music all the day.
The young folks roll on the little cabin floor,
All merry, all happy and bright.
By 'n by hard times comes a-knocking at the door,
Then my Old Kentucky Home, Good-Night!
Weep no more my lady, oh! weep no more today!
We will sing one song for the Old Kentucky Home,
For My Old Kentucky Home far a-way!

Abandoned Houses in Kentucky
No vacation is complete until I run into a few abandoned buildings. These were 2 of the homes we found while out in Kentucky for the weekend. One was out by an old distillery which used to be abandoned and now it is getting fixed up (you can see part of the distillery at the start of the video). The other was a house that my boyfriend knew the owners many years ago, now lays in ruin.
Hope to do more weekend adventures like so to share with you guys. have other places planned just need to find the time to get out and explore more.
If you have any questions be sure to ask.

Ashley Judd Senate Run: Actress, Activist Planning To Declare Candidacy..
Ashley Judd, the 44-year-old actress and social activist, has told key advisers and political figures that she is planning to announce her candidacy for U.S. Senate here this spring.
Judd told one close ally that she plans to announce her run for the Democratic nomination for the 2014 race around Derby -- meaning in early May when the Kentucky Derby brings national attention to Louisville and the Bluegrass State.
Reached for comment by email Saturday, Judd offered a not-quite-ironclad denial to The Huffington Post. I am not sure who is saying this stuff, but it is not I! I'd prefer as a fan of your journalism that you stay accurate and credible. We told everyone who called us yesterday these stories are fabrications.
But she declined to specify which stories, did not say what wasn't accurate, and did not respond when asked directly whether she had, in fact, decided to run or chosen a time to declare her intentions.
I know she knows she has to declare soon, said one source, a highly placed elected official who declined to be identified because he was discussing private plans.
She could always change her mind, he added. I changed my mind twice before I finally declared. But as of now it is a done deal. She has discussed her plans, sources say, with former Gov. Wendell H. Ford, the 88-year-old dean of Kentucky Democrats, among others.
The announcement, her allies told The Huffington Post, could clear the field of major contenders for the Democratic nomination, setting up a wild, made-for-YouTube contest between the free-wheeling, media-savvy Hollywood actress, and the methodically accusatory machine of the five-term Republican senator -- and Senate minority leader -- Mitch McConnell of Louisville.
Judd, sources say, is working with New York pollster Jefrey Pollock; has interviewed a number of media consultants including Anita Dunn, formerly of the Obama campaigns, and J.B. Poersch, the former head of the Democrats' national senate campaign committee, as well as leaders of Emily's List; and is lining up allies and field organizers. Advisers in Lexington are working on her filing papers and other technical issues.
As early as last summer, according to a top Democratic fundraiser with ties to President Barack Obama. Judd discussed the role of a woman candidate in a Senate race with another Pollock client, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.).
Judd has some prominent backers in the state, led by Rep. John Yarmuth of Louisville; Christy Brown, whose family controls the Brown-Forman distilling fortune; and Brown's son-in-law Matthew Barzun, the former ambassador to Sweden (and probable future ambassador to the United Kingdom), who was Obama's finance chairman in the 2012 campaign.
Normally a candidate such as Judd would have to fight through a difficult field of seasoned, and generally more conservative, Kentucky Democrats. But several of them are focused instead on the governor's race in 2015, and others doubt whether they could beat the experienced and tough McConnell.

SUMMARY
=======
Louisville ( (listen) LOO-ə-vəl, (listen) LOO-ee-vil, (listen) LUUV-əl) is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the 29th most-populous city in the United States. It is one of two cities in Kentucky designated as first-class, the other being Lexington, the state's second-largest city. Louisville is the historical seat and, since 2003, the nominal seat of Jefferson County.
Louisville was founded in 1778 by George Rogers Clark, making it one of the oldest cities west of the Appalachian Mountains. It is named after King Louis XVI of France. Sited beside the Falls of the Ohio, the only major obstruction to river traffic between the upper Ohio River and the Gulf of Mexico, the settlement first grew as a portage site. It was the founding city of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, which grew into a 6,000-mile (9,700 km) system across 13 states. Today, the city is known as the home of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), the University of Louisville and its Louisville Cardinals athletic teams, Louisville Slugger baseball bats, and three of Kentucky's six Fortune 500 companies. Its main airport is also the site of United Parcel Service's worldwide air hub.
Since 2003, Louisville's borders have been the same as those of Jefferson County, after a city-county merger. The official name of this consolidated city-county government is the Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Government, abbreviated to Louisville Metro. Despite the merger and renaming, the term Jefferson County continues to be used in some contexts in reference to Louisville Metro, particularly including the incorporated cities outside the balance which make up Louisville proper. The city's total consolidated population as of the 2017 census estimate was 771,158. However, the balance total of 621,349 excludes other incorporated places and semiautonomous towns within the county and is the population listed in most sources and national rankings.
The Louisville-Jefferson County, KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), sometimes also referred to as Kentuckiana, includes Louisville-Jefferson County and 12 surrounding counties, seven in Kentucky and five in Southern Indiana. As of 2017, the MSA had a population of 1,293,953 , ranking 45th nationally.
