Gay and lesbian travellers are finding this to be a gay welcoming destination, and if same-same marriage gets approved, it will become a honeymoon destination for those who love wilderness, wildlife, heritage and gourmet food and wine.

Wrongdoing at Boat Harbour Beach in Tasmania
During the darkness of the night, persons can be seen breaching the peace, trespassing on private property and engaging in wrongdoing.
Waratah Wynyard Council promised to install “Day Use Area Only” signage on the Council reserve across the small road from this property on 16/11/12 due to its close proximity to resident dwellings. The Council has failed to deliver even though their own Customer Service Charter clearly states that Council will “Act on any commitments given as quickly as reasonably possible.”

Magic. This one word sums up where we are, and where we wish we could stay for more than the one night we had planned for.
From the moment the ocean glimmers into view as you wind your way down the road to the minute your toes hit the cool, blue water washing over the white sand, everything about this small beach community is pure magic.

The Western Explorer & Boat Harbour Beach - Tasmania - E12
This week we get to Lake Mackintosh, a place that we couldn't wait to visit in Tasmania. However, once we had fully set up camp we had to turn around and pack up again. The weather turned for the worse and there was no way we could have stayed their comfortably or indeed at all.
So it was time for plan B, which was a camp site at another Lake an hour west. The night was comfortable before we started to make our way to Corinna to drive the Western Explorer Road. This road is 90km of dirt, and because it had been raining for the past few weeks it was a slossy wet drive at that. Even though it was a slow drive it was fairly comfortable.
Once we finished the road we realised that one of the spot lights had come completely off, so Matt got to fixing that before we keep making our way to the coast to dry out.
Boat Harbour Beach was where we were headed and boy were we glad we went there, minus the snake incident. We spent a few days here enjoying the sunshine and crystal clear waters.

Mayor's Message Boat Harbour Beach camping
Waratah-Wynyard Mayor Robby Walsh discusses the Council's recent decision to ban overnight parking and camping on public reserves.
Extensive community consultation and recommendations from several key strategic reports led to Council’s decision to prioritise local safety and amenity and maximise opportunities for day-use of the popular holiday spot.

The Waratah Wynyard Council promised to install Day Use Area Only signage in the area on 16 November 2012 to prevent camping. Where are the signs?
The Council's own Customer Service Charter clearly states that Council will Act on any commitments given as quickly as reasonably possible.
Around December 2012, Crown Land Services placed some No Camping signs in the area as a temporary measure but these signs were removed illegally by unknown person/s after about 2 weeks.
Even though camping is not allowed in the area, leaflets have been distributed detailing camping guidelines as well as specifically asking for money in return. The leaflet clearly states the following.
