On July the 14th I climbed Bobotov Kuk (2523 m), the highest peak in Durmitor National Park and the highest mountain, solely in Montenegro.

One day in Durmitor National Park
On a way to Bobotov Kuk - Durmitor (Hiking in Montenegro)
Just under the Bobotov kuk. It was tought to be the highest peak of Montenegro, but some recent surveys have shown there are three higher peaks on the border with Albania (Prokletije mountain)

I started my hike in Zabljak (1429m) at 6:00am, and it took approximately 5 hours to get to the summit and another 5 hours to go back down.
Most of the way was on crumbly snow-free scree (with the occasional snowfield in the more secluded guleys), and the final 200m required scrambling on a nearly-vertical wall, but the views from the top were worth it.
On a clear day, you're supposed to be able to see well into Croatia, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Albania from the summit, but this time around there was a bit of haze blocking the view into the distance.

Bobotov Kuk Peak is the highest peak of Durmitor National Park of Montenegro with 2,523m asl. Due to its isolated position the first recorded ascent was in late 19th century by Oscar Baumann. First organized group from Zagreb came to Durmitor in 1926.
From Zabljak town the peak can be easily reached. The route to the peak is well marked and takes approximately 10-hour round trip.

Relacja z Wrześniowego wyjścia na szczyt. Bobotov Kuk (2523 m n.p.m) najwyższy szczyt Durmitoru w górach Dynarskich, czasami błędnie podawany jako najwyższy szczyt Czarnogóry. Nocowaliśmy w Żablaku i świtkiem rankem pojechaliśmy na przełącz Siedlo z skąd wyruszyliśmy na szczyt.

Hiking to the top of Montenegro: Climbing Bobotov Kuk (2522m)
We climbed the Bobotov Kuk in the Durmitor National Park in northern Montenegro this October. Our mountain tour was intense, exhausting and breathtakingly beautiful. This video shows some of the most beautiful moments and passages of our little adventure. As a reward for our efforts, we met two free-living dogs at the summit who were very happy about our visit. The way back over the Samar Pass finally challenged our fitness - but we were rewarded with a wonderful sunset with simultaneous moonshine.

Północna Albania i Czarnogóra - Zabljak - Durmitor (6/6)
Sławne góry Durmitor to bohater tego odcinka. Ląduje w Zabljaku, który można uznać za główne miejsce wypadowe tego terenu. Z niego też przypuszczam atak największego szczytu w okolicy Bobotov Kuk. Kończę na tym plądrowanie części Czarnogóry. Mimo że jej obszar nie jest za duży, to sporo do odwiedzenia jeszcze zostało. Poza sezonem kolejnym razem rzecz jasna.
