GrapeswineTv: Toro
Passionate about Spanish red wines? Don’t miss this must see video from GrapesWineTV host Steve Gordon and GrapesWine.com owner John Caplan. It’s all about the Toro region, where some of the world’s best red wines come from.
Not a lot of people know about red wines from Toro, but the region is becoming more and more popular and getting lots of press as people learn about the fantastic, full-flavored wines. Toro is in Spain. Recently, on the Charlie Rose Show, the famous wine critic Robert Parker said Toro is the next great red wine region.
Toro focuses on growing one grape, the Tinta de Toro. It is a smaller grape with a thick skin that makes a full, rich wine that is magnificently supple. A lot of great winemakers are setting up shop in Toro. Mariano Garcia, possibly Spain’s greatest winemaker, makes San Roman, a flagship vintage that’s just superb. This is the premium wine; for the budget friendly value vintage, choose Prima. Highly recommended.
If you like bigger, stronger, richer reds, wines from Toro are for you. GrapesWine.com sources wines from all around the world, and provides each customer with a personal Wine Advisor, who will help you find the wines that will please you best.
