Bodenham Arboretum
A planned walk around Dudmaston Hall, Bridgnorth didn't quite go as planned; actually, it wasn't planned at all, we just thought we'd turn up. As it happens, we didn't check the website and it doesn't open on Friday's and Saturday's presumably to give the residence some time off. Anyway, with Bodenham Arboretum just a few miles down the road, we decided to head there instead.
Bodenham Arboretum - Worcestershire's Hidden Garden
Bodenham Arboretum in Wolverley, Kidderminster is described as Worcestershire's hidden garden. We have over 5 miles of pathways to explore - 15 pools, plantations, dells and glades comprising over 3000 trees and shrubs, 300+ species of wild flowers, plants and grasses, providing habitats for flora and fauna, including 14 species of dragonfly and over 100 species of resident and migrating birds. The working farm comprises 200 North Country mule ewes and pedigree Herefordshire cows – all accessible to the visitor.

The Road to Bodenham Arboretum North Worcestershire England -28 September 2011
Short Road movie with music by Dave Webber and Anni Fentiman of early Autumn on the road to Bodenham Arboretum. The weather was unseasonably warm rising to 27C which for 25th September is unusual in this part of the world.
Dave and Anni epitomise the best of English the folk music tradition to me and were playing on a cassette tape (remember them) in my car. The sound is all over the place, but that's hand held histories for you I suppose.
The bit where I point at the sky without capturing any interesting images was because I saw a murder of crows mobbing a buzzard and driving him off. Unfortunately I couldn't find the drama with my Bloggie although a few out-of-focus dots are visible for about a nanosecond before I give up.

The Dovecote, Wolverley, Worcestershire
The Dovecote is a delightful home with heritage.
A Georgian Grade II Listed building with a Listing statement of
'Mid-C18 with some late C20 alterations. Two storeys with attic lit by circular windows in shaped gables, with finials; dentilled brick cornice. First floor with semi-circular headed window with top-hung C20 casement to each side flanked by two blind circular windows, ground floor with blind arcade with semi-elliptical central recess flanked by two smaller semi-circular headed recesses: Entrance in west front has a C20 panelled door flanked by two fixed casements.'
Originally The Dovecote was associated with Wolverley House which has now been converted into a select development of apartments and houses. The setting is quite unique, the property itself similarly being as individual in character as anyone could
wish for.
It is approached via a little lane The Shortyard with the private driveway to the Wolverley House development, which takes one past the main house itself, after which the impressive outline of
The Dovecote roof will then be seen with its own private entrance way. The first full view of the property is impressive, it offers accommodation over four floors but has a most delightful external faade. The mellow brick work with fine lime mortar joints, impressive arches and fine brick work fairly takes ones
breath away.
If you are seeking the unusual then The Dovecote genuinely will provide the individuality that is so rarely available within a budget that by todays standards is most affordable. The property stands in its own grounds of just over half an acre with driveways, garaging, seating areas, lawns, orchard all of which gently slope down to the adjacent pasture land and flood plain of the Stour Valley.
