Bodmin is a civil parish and major town in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. Bodmin is situated south-west of Bodmin Moor. The extent of the civil parish corresponds fairly closely to that of the town so is mostly urban in character. Bodmin is bordered to the east by Cardinham parish, to the southeast by Lanhydrock parish, to the southwest and west by Lanivet parish, and to the north by Helland parish.
Bodmin Town Council is made up of sixteen councillors who are elected to serve a term of four years. Each year, the Council elects one of its number as Mayor to serve as the town's civic leader and to chair council meetings.
Bodmin buildings of interest include the former Shire Hall, now a tourist information centre, and Victoria Barracks, formerly depot of the now defunct Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry and now the site of the regimental museum. It includes the history of the regiment from 1702, plus a military library. The original barracks house the regimental museum which was founded in 1925. There is a fine collection of small arms and machine guns, plus maps, uniforms and paintings on display. Bodmin County Lunatic Asylum was designed by John Foulston and afterwards George Wightwick. William Robert Hicks the humorist was domestic superintendent in the mid-19th century.
Bodmin Jail, operational for over 150 years but now a semi-ruin, was built in the late 18th century, and was the first British prison to hold prisoners in separate cells (though often up to ten at a time) rather than communally. Over fifty prisoners condemned at the Bodmin Assize Court were hanged at the prison.
Bodmin Beacon Local Nature Reserve is the hill overlooking the town. The reserve has 83 acres (33.6 ha) of public land and at its highest point it reaches 162 metres with the distinctive landmark at the summit. The 44-metre tall monument to Sir Walter Raleigh Gilbert was built in 1857 by the townspeople of Bodmin to honour the soldier's life and work in India.
Bodmin Parkway railway station is served by main line trains and is situated on the Cornish Main Line about 3½ miles (5½ km) south-east from the town centre. A heritage railway, the Bodmin and Wenford Railway, runs from Bodmin Parkway station via Bodmin General railway station to Boscarne Junction where there is access to the Camel Trail. The bus link to Bodmin, Wadebridge and Padstow starts from outside the main entrance of Bodmin Parkway. Bus and coach services connect Bodmin with other districts of Cornwall and Devon.
( Bodmin - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Bodmin . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Bodmin - UK

A day out with my mother and daughter to the DCLI museum in Bodmin, Cornwall
The Ancient Sites of Cornwall Tour
Seven Day Ancient Sites of Cornwall Tour
The mystical Atlantic peninsula of Cornwall is home to a whole variety of ancient sites and we have a full week to explore the wonderful countryside and spectacular sea and cliff views of this English Riviera. Our home for the week will be Newquay, where we will have a free day to relax on the beach where surfing lessons are available for the energetic. You could walk the cliffs and discover the ‘Hidden Church’ and other gems of the area, spend time in the hotel pool, or just visit the shops and bars. The Watering Hole pub, near the hotel, is the only licensed beach bar in Britain and is one of the town’s live music venues. After ten years this might be the last year that we will be able to stay at the Ponsmere Hotel, ‘The Hotel on the Beach’, so don’t miss the chance.
We will have two days visiting the ancient sites of the Lands End Peninsula where we will find a plethora of stone circles, ancient holy wells, Cornish Crosses and ancient settlements. We will also have a full day on Bodmin Moor the home of the famous Hurler Stones stone circles, the Cheese Rings and the Quartz Duloe Stone Circle. We will also call in at the Jamaica Inn, the old smugglers meeting place on the moor and the location of the smugglers museum and where Daphne Du Maurier and Alfred Hitchcock based their novel and film of the same name. Not far from the inn is a little known church which was once a meeting place of the Knights Templar.
We will also visit the Cornish town of Tintagel where we will visit Tintagel Castle, said to be the birth place of King Arthur and Merlin’s Cave beneath it. We will then move on to mystical Boscastle to visit the famous and fascinating witchcraft museum, which boasts exhibits from a whole variety of mystic and magical traditions.
Cornwall is an epicentre of ancient sites particularly from the Neolithic and Bronze Ages and a visit here is a must for anyone interested in exploring mystical Britain.
Bodmin & Wenford, Cornwall's Friendly Railway (England)
I arrived at Bodmin the day before I was due to meet a friend for a trip on the Bodmin and Wenford Railway. My wife decided to visit the town’s shops, so I wandered up to the station for a look around, as luck would have it the last train of the day was due. A 5700 Class GWR Panier Tank No.4612 approached with its train, assisted at the rear by a Class 33 diesel locomotive No.33110. I captured its arrival and subsequent shunting on video. Before I left the station I asked a friendly young lady in the main office if it would be possible to mount a tiny camera on the engine the following day, she looked at the crew roster and said she would ask on my behalf.
I turned up the following day to see our train being prepared. The lady I’d spoken to the previous day met the driver as he readied his locomotive to be couple to its train. After a short conversation I was given the thumbs up by the driver and his young fireman to mount a camera allowing me to share the unique view normally reserved for the footplate crew. The friendly welcome didn’t stop there, as my companion visiting from Australia’s Puffing Billy Railway was issued with a footplate pass. After being treated to a tour of the loco shed, we boarded the train for a trip over the line.
A ride over this line is unusual in that it involves traversing both arms of a “Y” shaped route starting at Bodmin General, first off we follow the route to Bodmin Parkway where we meet up with the Cornish mainline before returning to Bodmin General, ready for a return trip to Boscarne Junction.
This video shows a trip over the line from the locomotive, passenger and line-side perspective. For viewers who enjoy a full “Driver’s Eye” video of the entire route, I’m working on it and it should be available shortly.
The warm welcome extended to our party is typical of the welcome visitors can expect. No visit to Cornwall would be complete without a ride on the Bodmin & Wenford Railway.

Ancient Cornwall
Continuing from my Ancient Britain video, this trek explores Cornwall's 5000+ year history by visiting stone circles, burial chambers, ancient churches, and sites that defy explanation. The opening sequence was shot in London and Portmeirion with music composed by Ron Grainer from the original Prisoner TV series.
Driver’s Eye View - Bodmin & Wenford Railway - Part 1 - Bodmin General to Bodmin Parkway
The Bodmin & Wenford Railway is located on England’s South West Peninsula in the county of Cornwall. We received a warm, friendly welcome from the volunteers and staff who kindly allowed me to place cameras on locomotive No.4612, a GWR 5700 Class Panier Tank. In this the first of a 2 part series we take a return trip between Bodmin General and Bodmin Parkway over one of the most steeply graded routes to be found on any British heritage railway.

Bodmin Jail!!! (2.23.13)
The original jail was built for King George III in 1779. The Jail you see today was built by the prisoners who brought the 20,000 tons of granite from Bodmin's Cuckoo Quarry. During the First World War the Jail held state papers and the Doomsday book -- The Crown Jewels have also been given safe haven here as well.
Visit the cold dank cells, look up at the thin light filtering through a small barred window and imagine being sentenced to even a week in such desolation, a very lonely life with the knowledge each day would bring more of the same cold, hunger and hard labour, on the treadmill as a civil prisoner, or cannon ball catch for naval prisoners; designed to keep you fit for battle on your release
BUILDING A SAFE FUTURE
odmin Jail is a unique heritage asset, which has been allowed to decay until its present owners acquired it in the summer of 2004. They are ploughing all the revenue from entrance fees and profits from the shop and business as a whole back into the Jail with an extensive plan to revive this infamous Jail; by replacing roofs, internal structures and showing the cells as they once were, whilst also incorporating a fascinating museum of Cornish penal life over the last three centuries.
Our vision is to take the Jail Back to the Future where it will become the thriving, vibrant mirror image of the past, a legacy of Cornish history for all to enjoy, a truly memorable day out! Helping Bodmin town, once the capital of Cornwall, to become the rightful historic capital again.

Last ever tour of Bodmin Jail - 2019
#haunted #Prison #Ghosts
Today we were invited to the last ever tour of the super haunted Bodmin Jail / Gaol in Bodmin, Cornwall.
Bodmin Jail is an historic former prison situated in Bodmin, on the edge of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall. Built in 1779 and closed in 1927, the large range of buildings is now largely in ruins
We spent the day with some good friends and got to capture the last time around the jail before they rip it all up and turn it into a new attraction and hotel.

Gay Weekly Vlog - Beach Bums - funny gay couple travel vlog in cornwall
Week 39
I really do love Cornwall. Daniel (my gay boyfriend) and I or enjoying our second week in the beautiful Town of Crantock in Cornwall. As this is our last week in Cornwall we have visited so many places including Perran porth beach, Fistral beach and st Ives.
We seem to have gotten a lot better at body boarding this year. Of course the weather was very British which meant that along with the sun there was also rain and wind. However, this did not stop us. It certainly did not stop my boyfriend showing his naked ass to pose for a photo on the beach.
We visited a beautiful Town called Bodmin where we stopped in to see the railway museum and of course the charity shops.
