Duomo:Cathedral of Pisa
Its Construction began in 1064 by the architect Busketo, and set the model for the distinctive Pisan Romanesque style of architecture. The mosaics of the interior, as well as the pointed arches, show a strong Byzantine influence. The façade, of grey marble and white stone set with discs of coloured marble, was built by a master named Rainaldo, as indicated by an inscription above the middle door: Rainaldus prudens operator. The massive bronze main doors were made in the workshops of Giambologna, replacing the original doors destroyed in a fire in 1595. The original central door was in bronze and made around 1180 by Bonanno Pisano, while the other two were probably in wood. However worshippers never used the façade doors to enter, instead entering by way of the Porta di San Ranieri (St. Ranieri's Door), in front of the Leaning Tower, made in around 1180 by Bonanno Pisano.
The Piazza dei Miracoli (Italian: Square of Miracles), formally known as Piazza del Duomo (Italian: Cathedral Square), is a wide walled area located in Pisa, Tuscany, Italy, recognized as an important center of European medieval art and one of the finest architectural complexes in the world. Considered a sacred area by its owner, the Catholic Church, the square is dominated by four great religious edifices: the Pisa Cathedral, the Pisa Baptistry, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the Camposanto Monumentale (Monumental Cemetery). Partly paved and partly grassed, the Piazza dei Miracoli is also the site of the Ospedale Nuovo di Santo Spirito (New Hospital of the Holy Spirit), which houses the Sinopias Museum (Italian: Museo delle Sinopie), and the Cathedral Museum (Italian: Museo dell'Opera del Duomo). The name Piazza dei Miracoli was created by the Italian writer and poet Gabriele d'Annunzio who, in his novel Forse che sì forse che no (1910), described the square as the prato dei Miracoli or the meadow of miracles. The square is sometimes called the Campo dei Miracoli (Field of Miracles). In 1987 the whole square was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Why doesn’t the Leaning Tower of Pisa fall over? - Alex Gendler
Dig into the 800 year history and architecture of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and find out what gives the tower its infamous tilt.
--
In 1990, the Italian government enlisted top engineers to stabilize Pisa’s famous Leaning Tower. There’d been many attempts during its 800 year history, but computer models revealed the urgency of their situation. The tower would topple if it reached an angle of 5.44 degrees— and it was currently leaning at 5.5. What gives the tower its infamous tilt? Alex Gendler explores the monument's history.

Tower of Pisa: An Experiment with Galen Weitkamp
Galen Weitkamp, professor of mathematics at Western Illinois University, explains Galileo's famous experiment and poses questions to consider, including:
- Does the relative acceleration of a stone falling toward the Earth's surface really depend on whether the stone is of extraterrestrial origin or not? Can you state precisely what's going on here?
- Will two falling bodies that are side by side at a given moment in time and have the same velocity at the time reach the Earth's surface simultaneously? What if both are terrestrial? What if both are extraterrestrial?
- What if one's terrestrial and the other not? What happens if the bodies are tethered together?
- What does Einstein's General Theory of Relativity predict about the relative acceleration of falling stones?

Fencing Foot Work 2,
Create a note book, copy and paste to your word program.......
Go to FencingAcademy-Tampa.org, to see Sport Fencing Instructional Tutorial Flicks.
In Practicing of Footwork, One Should Strive for:
1. Uninterrupted fluid motion displacing the center of gravity
2. A natural erect body position
3. Parallel position of the shoulders to the floor during foot movements
4. Simultaneous movement of the trunk with the legs
5. Light smooth change of direction
6. Light smooth Footwork
Footwork From the On Guard Position Facilitates:
1. Better Balance
2. Easier Change of Direction
3. Elimination of the Up and Down Movement of the body's Center of Gravity (C.G.)
4. Simultaneous Movements of the Trunk and Legs
Fencing Footwork

On guard.
Toes at ninety degrees, torso aiming in between feet toward corner (not twisted). Neck and back lengthen and stay straight as the knees bend way out over toes, making sure to soften knees, hips and ankles to allow the movement. Heels on the ground weight stays in feet as you bend. Arms float up and away from the body as you feel as long and wide as possible. All joints stay soft and any push launches you into motion.
Half-advance.
Able to release the front leg joints, and swing it forward as in walking with body moving only to the center between the legs.
Half-retreat.
Able to release the back leg joints, moving the leg back freely with the weight moving back to the middle.
Advance.
Movement is smooth and easy. After a number of slow advances--feet maintain correct width and toes and knees are pointed in the right direction
Retreat.
Movement is smooth and easy. After a number of slow retreats feet maintain correct width and toes and knees are pointed in the right direction.
Lunge.
Front leg moves independently, stay on the back leg as you lunge. Land softly and stay upright with weight only going to center. Foot width and direction correct on lunge and recovery. Don't tighten at the end of the lunge so that the flow of movement begins the recovery.
