Boesmanskloof Hike
This clip gives one a rough idea of what to expect when hiking the Boesmanskloof hiking trail. This clip was shot in winter, so there is plenty water. In summer you might only find water in two places, so make sure you carry enough water.
Boesmanskloof McGregor
Wonderlike plekkie
Laat hier aangekom. Saterdagaand soek ek die ligte in die donker en besef toe alles werk met kerse. n Lafenis! Dit het alles sommer xtra spesiaal gemaak. Moet asb. nie krag in sit nie. Dit gaan die atmosfeer spoil. View is stunning en die koue aande maak die vuur en warm komberse net soveel lekkerder. Stukkie Hemel op Aarde!

Boesmanskloof Hiking Trail
This is a one-way 14km trail. Your surrounded by beautiful flora and towering mountains. Oaks Falls probably deserves the spotlight, a big blackwater swimming pool. One also finds the pink disa there in November to January. Awesome!
We hiked to Greyton, slept in Anna's Cottages then hiked back the Die Galg. A trip to remember!
PS: Forgive my spelling of beautiful.
McGregor featured on Pasella
Various historical buildings and styles from the small Western Cape village of McGregor were featured on TV. The old prison, some Victorian and Georgean examples, the old mill and a sustainable house made of cob were shown.
McGregor is justifiably proud of it's old buildings and history which brings many visitors to the town.

Some mates and I road trip to Waterval Boven in Mpumalanga, South Africa, to tackle the beautiful Oom Paul's Trail which is part of the Num Num Hike. With contrasted scenery from lush canopied trails, to open landscapes and mountain scenery with many ascents and descents to the top and bottom of waterfalls, this hike is not for the faint hearted or beginners, as you'll see we loose a fellow hiker on the 2nd day who rather opted to stay in bed at the camp haha. Hiking in South Africa is awesome!

A two hour drive from Cape Town via Worcester onto the scenic Route 62, via Robertson and then through McGregor brings you to what is often called, The Road To Nowhere, what could very well be just a drive through farmlands, has a semi dead end with a surprise.
Tightly nestled in the heart of the Riviersonderend mountains, between the twin villages of Greyton and McGregor, a double storey, stone house catch the eye, aptly named -- Eagle's Nest. From the stone patios the real world is a far off memory.
The famous Boesmanskloof/The Galg Trail is literally at the front door of this stone house and all hikers of this trail pass by its presence on the trail.
Rooms
This self-catering guest house boasts four double bed bedrooms each with an en-suite (shower and toilet). Every room is named after an African eagle and equipped with linen and towels. The rooms are on the upper level of the guesthouse and access to a balcony with breath taking views over the gorge. A separate bedroom downstairs has three single beds also with en-suite (shower and toilet).
Open plan Lounge/Dining Room
Upon entering Eagle's Nest, your eyes are drawn to the glass sliding door which leads to the patio. This unlocks an amazing view on the Riviersonderend mountains and the natural rushing rock pools. A 12-seater dining table ensures long hours of socializing. Coaches and a wonderful interior braai ensures that when the mountain evenings turn its cooler side, you will be cosily cared for in the Eagles Nest.
Kitchen
A big family kitchen with a wooden table ensures a warmth that will make you feel right at home. It is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery and other cookware as well as a fridge, microwave, stove and a toaster and of course the necessary electricity. Exiting the kitchen door will hold yet another breath-taking disclosure.
Outside
What is better to enjoy the fresh mountain air, than to braai using the stone braai facilities? The area, being well-known for its Fynbos, flaunts its Erica, Speldekussing (Pin Cusion Flower), Leucodendron, Repens and Compacta. All of this cuddles Eagle's Nest and spectacular birdlife further gives rise to its majestic presence. These include Suikerbekkies, eagles, crows, sunbirds and owls.
With each visit you will find that the area has changed, because Fynbos changes with the seasons. That is what makes this place so magical.
Animals: Include klipspringers, grysbok and duikers. (Please do not frighten or chase the animals as some are very tame).
Moutain Biking: Bikers can challenge themselves on these roads with a variety of options to choose from.

The private Leopards Trail: which we offer our selves on our land starts and ends at Eagle's Nest and lasts approximately 3 hours. A real treat for any nature lover! If you intend of making use of this route, you will have to inform us beforehand
The grade 1-2 4x4 Waterkloof Trail and Route is only 2km long, but the destination calls for a special treat. Have a picnic, fish and/or swim in lovely river pools and white river banks. Our 2 night and 2 day adventurous hike on the Boesmanskloof trail with a lovely group. We got wet, cold and wind blown but every step was worth it.
The trail leads through Riviersonderend Mountains with steep gorges, large rock pools, waterfalls and the Cape wildflowers. At either end lie the lush Greyton and Mcgregor valleys.
