The Dresser @ Bolton Little Theatre 8-13 April 2019
England 1942. Sir, the last of the great, but dying, breed of English actor-managers, is in a very bad way tonight. As his dresser tries valiantly to prepare him to go on stage as King Lear, Sir is having great difficulty remembering who and where he is, let alone Lear's lines.
A classic play about the power of theatre and friendship.

Be My Baby @ Bolton Little Theatre
Amanda Whittington's popular northern play about a home for unmarried mothers in 1964 gets a welcome revival at Bolton Little Theatre.
Mary is seventeen, single and seven months pregnant. Bundled off to St Saviours, a Church of England-run mother and baby home, her concerned mother has arranged for Mary's baby to be adopted immediately it is born. The girls in the home find comfort in each other's friendship, but ultimately they must face their individual tragedies alone.

The Pitmen Painters @ Bolton Little Theatre 3-10 March 2018
In 1934, a group of miners and a dental mechanic, hired a professor from Newcastle University to teach an Art Appreciation evening class. Initially unable to understand each other, together they embarked on one of the most unusual experiments in British art as the pitmen learned to become painters. Within a few years the most avant-garde artists became their friends, their work was taken for prestigious collections and they were celebrated throughout the British art world; but every day they worked, just as before, down the mine.

Private Peaceful @ Bolton Little Theatre 10-17 November
by Simon Reade
Based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo
11th November 2018 will mark the Centenary of the WW1 Armistice. On this significant anniversary, Bolton Little Theatre presents a bittersweet drama, adapted by Simon Reade from the acclaimed novel by Michael Morpurgo (War Horse).
Private “Tommo” Peaceful, a young Devon lad, is inspired by older brother Charlie – and by the fear of otherwise seeming a coward – to join the army in France and fight for his country. On a single night in 1916 Tommo, having disobeyed the command of his Captain, counts the hours until dawn, when he will face the firing squad and pay the ultimate price for his “cowardice”. Knowing that this night will be his last, Tommo stays awake, remembering the days of his youth in the fields of Devon, which he knows he will never return to.
Private Peaceful will prefaced on the night by General Slaughter, a melody of World War One songs and poetry performed by the cast.

Take a bus to a Summer Holiday in Bolton
As it prepares to leave its building in the hands of developers for refurbishment, Bolton’s Octagon Theatre takes its audiences on the road, literally, for its seasonal musical Summer Holiday, based on the Cliff Richard film.
The performance begins at the new Bolton Interchange bus station where the audience will meet before travelling by bus with the actors to the theatre, where the rest of the production takes place.
A little over a week before opening, BTG editor David Chadderton spoke to two of the actor musicians, Barbara Hockaday and Greg Last, and Ben Occhipinti, who is co-directing with Octagon Artistic Director Elizabeth Newman.
Summer Holiday will be performed at Bolton Travel Interchange and Octagon Theatre Bolton from Thursday 31 May to Saturday 23 June 2018.
