Arunachal Pradesh is the largest among the seven states located in the Northeast of India, with an area of 83,743 sq km. It shares its borders with the neighbouring countries of Bhutan in the west, China (Tibet) in the north and northeast, Myanmar in the east and southeast and the Indian states of Assam and Nagaland in the south. Tawang is a mountain town in Asia. India considers it to be part of the state of Arunachal Pradesh, while China claims it as part of South Tibet. It’s home to the 17th-century Tawang Monastery, a hilltop structure housing a massive gilded Buddha statue. The War Memorial commemorates soldiers who died in the 1962 Chinese-Indian War. Nearby, tranquil Penga Teng Tso (P. T. Tso) Lake attracts migratory birds in summer.

The Sela Pass is a high-altitude mountain pass located on the border between the Tawang and West Kameng Districts of Arunachal Pradesh state in India.

Bomdila is the headquarters of West Kameng district in the state of Arunachal Pradesh in India. Bomdila is one of the 60 constituencies of the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

Inner line permit is required to visit Arunachal Pradesh and this can be applied either online or offline.

Bomdila is a beautiful small town which is en-route to Tawang! We recently visited the beautiful Himalayan City Tawang starting from Guwahati. On our first day's journey, we traveled from Guwahati to Bomdila by road and stopped there for one night. The next morning view was really one of the most scenics we have ever seen! After spending one night at Bomdila town we continued our Journey to Tawang.

So, this is our first Vlog Guwahati to Bomdila road trip from the Tawang Travel Series.

Upper Monastery in Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh

The Gentse Gaden Rabgyel Ling Monastery, Upper Gompa, Bomdila was started by the 12th reincarnate of Tsona Gontse Rimpoche in 1965 - 66. The Gompa is a replica of Tsona Gontse Monastery at Tsona in South Tibet, established during 15th century.

The 12th reincarnate was born in the Morshing, Kalaktang Circle of West Kameng. He constructed this modest Gompa before
his demise in the year 1966. The present Rimpoche, the 13th Tsona Gontse Rimpoche commenced the construction of the main prayer hall, which was consecrated by His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama on 13th October 1997.
