Romblon: Next Stop | Travel Guide to Romblon, Tablas, and Sibuyan Island (Philippines)
blog: ROMBLON: 8 Awesome Places You Should Visit in Romblon!
Welcome to ROMBLON! The Marble Capital of the Philippines, home to the “Galapagos of Asia” (Sibuyan) and the cleanest river in the Country.
Romblon is composed of three major islands that one must visit–Romblon Town, Tablas Island, and Sibuyan Island.
The province’s marble is comparable to the world’s best. Trade plays a big role in Romblon’s economy by virtue of its location at the center of the archipelago.
The islands are blessed with natural playgrounds such as beaches, rivers, mountains, and diverse eco-systems, which offer tourists many opportunities for adventures like scuba, trekking, and snorkeling.
Here’s Team OAP’s Top 8 favorites in their Romblon adventure…
1. Cresta De Gallo Islet (Sibuyan Island)
Romblon: Sibuyan Island
When asked what’s the most beautiful attraction to see in Romblon, locals would point to Crest De Gallo. A five-hectare kidney-shaped islet located east of Sibuyan Island. Known for its picturesque views, powder white sands and turquoise waters. The island is almost secluded except for one fisher family living there.
Romblon: Sibuyan Island
I just love how we got the whole island all to ourselves.
2. Marble Shopping Center (Romblon, Romblon)
The marble sourced in Romblon, Romblon is at par with the world’s best, with export quality material giving it high value to sculptures and builders around the world.
What makes its special is that the Romblon marbles are mature making it very tough, unlike the Bulacan version that has the tendency to break up into small parts.
Marble is one of the most sustainable form of mining. The island is blessed with sizable deposits of raw minerals that do not run out because of its inexhaustible supply.
They have a lot of variety of marbles such as the black, green, blue, white, Italian white, century and century-cream.
But the most expensive are the 100-year-old century and the rare Romblon black (Black Onyx) marbles.
The marble shopping center is ther best place to buy intricate marbles ranging from small to big souvenir items.
You can find keychains, lamp shades, vases, sculptures and etc here at a low price.
For instance, keychains with customized engraving would go for P30, a medium-sized mortar and pestle for only P60, marble lamps for 650, ashtrays for P65 to P85, little buddha sculptures for P750 and beautiful gold century marble vase for P500.
3. Looc Fish Sanctuary (Tablas)
The Looc Bay Marine Sanctuary is a protected marine sanctuary in the middle of Looc Bay. It is host to more than a hundred different marine species including different fishes, corals, clams, lobsters, and turtles.
It’s one of my most recommended activities when in Tablas! Adults and kids alike will enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and feeding the fishes.
For those who don’t enjoy swimming, the floating house features a clear open aquarium at the center where you can feed the fish.
4. Bonbon Beach (Romblon, Romblon)
Considered as Romblon’s best and probably most beautiful sandbar.
Located just 5km away from Romblon town, the beach is a must-go-to-site when visiting the island, with frequent locals and foreigner visitors alike. Besides its beautiful 2km stretch sand, it’s unique feature is that it connects all the way to uninhabited Bang-ug island.
5. Catingas River (Sibuyan Island)
Just 3km away from San Fernando Town is Catingas River considered as one of the cleanest rivers in the country. We loved swimming in it’s cold and clear waters plus there are jump boards for those adventurous enough to try river cliff jumping.
Locals say your visit wouldn’t be complete if you don’t jump. There are three levels the lowest is an estimate of 15 feet, 25 feet, and the highest 45 feet.
6. Dagubdub Falls (Sibuyan Island)
One of the most visited falls in Sibuyan Island. It consists of 4 beautiful falls with crystal clear natural pools perfect for soaking and cliff diving. It is also famous for the presence of the “pitcher plants” – a plant endemic to the island and very rare to find in the country.
Sibuyan
There are a lot of unique and endangered plants found only in Sibuyan. One of them is the pitcher plants, a carnivorous plant that feeds on insects that have a pitcher shape feature. I heard you can take some home and plant it in your home.
7. Aglicay Beach Resort (Tablas)
Aglicay Beach is one of the first resorts in Romblon. It is closest to the airport with majority of it’s clients being internationals.
The shoreline features almost a half-kilometer stretch of white sand. Aglicay’s charm is different from Binucot, because in Binucot there are lots of resorts, but in Aglicay the owner owns the whole cove, so guests can experience a sense of privacy.
It is located just south of the town of Alcantara on the east coast of Tablas Island. It takes around 1.5 hours coming from Odiongan with an entrance fee of P100/person.

Romblon's Amazing Bon-Bon Beach
Bon Bon Beach Romblon - The most beautiful Sandbar in the Philippines!
Welcome to bon bon beach, the most beautiful and most well known sandbar in the Philippines and puts romblon firmly on the must visit list.
Bon Bon beach is without doubt the crown jewel of romblon province and probably the most iconic sandbar that brings people to the Philippines. Bon bon beach is truly a spectacular place.
The water both sides of the sandbar are entirely different, one side of the sandbar is very cold water and calm and the other side is a little rougher but much warmer, Bon bon sandbar actually acts as a shield between the 2 oceans.
To actually see the sandbar at its most clearest you must wait till around 6pm or wake up early around 5am in the morning to see it at its best.
Bon bon beach is also a free beach so no need to worry about paying.
Romblon is such a underrated and beautiful province and highly recommend everybody to come here and visit the spectacular bon bon beach and sandbar for themselves and see one of the most beautiful parts of the Philippines that you can see and also the most beautiful sandbar in the Philippines to.

Romblon Island - Beautiful Dive Sites Near Bon Bon Beach
Today we go diving for the very first time this year on romblon island and visit 2 of the best dive sites for colourful corals near bon bon beach.
Romblon island is more known for its sandbar and beaches than its diving, we do not no why this is because the colour of the corals and the amount of fish suggest that romblon island is a fantastic place to dive and very very underrated for its sea life.
The first dive site we went to was at bon bon beach which is the most popular attraction on romblon island. Under the ocean is just as impressive as the sand bar with many types of fish and some of the most alive corals we have seen so far. We see scorpion fish frog fish many nudibranches and many more.
The 2nd dive site was at a island that you visit during island hopping which has the chances to see bigger fish although our luck was not with us and we did not see any big fish. The coral was still very colourful and alive
Dive prices were 21 english pounds per dive which is a pretty good price and really good value for money
All in all we highly recommend diving while in romblon island if you would like to see bright colour corals and small fish and we would assume it would be a really good place to do your padi at romblon fun divers
THE BLUEST WATER IN THE PHILIPPINES - Romblon

Bon Bon Beach, Romblon, Philippines - VLOG06
Welcome travel fans! In this episode, we visit Bon Bon Beach, Romblon, Philippines. I will take you on a journey to this open beach with turquoise waters, white sandy shores, and a unique sandbar that leads to the nearby island named Bangog, an uninhabited island, accessible during low tide. So best plan your trip when the tide is at the lowest point which only comes maybe once a month. Hope you enjoy this video I made for all you viewers out there. I tried to make it perfect but ran out of time so I did what I could to keep the storyline as short as possible, so I had to cut out a bunch of stuff towards the end. I hope to go back again soon with the drone this time and during low tide which I missed out on as you will see.

GETTING TO ROMBLON ISLAND - PHILIPPINES SECRET PARADISE
How to get to Romblon Island in the Philippines?
I flew from Los Angeles, USA to Manila, the Philippines and began what turned out to be a 5-day long journey to Romblon Island with endless local flights, boats, jeepney, and tricycle rides. It is not easy to get around in the Philippines, but as you can see in the video, it was absolutely worth it!
In order to reach Romblon Island, you’ll first need to get to the Romblon province. You can do this by flying from Manila to Tugdan Airport in Tablas (TBH) and taking a jeepney, trike, or van to San Agustin. Cebu Pacific operates this flight 3 days per week.
You may need to overnight on Tablas in order to take a pump boat over. They leave daily at 8am and 1pm from San Agustin and cost 100 pesos plus a 10 pesos terminal fee. I stayed on Tablas Island for a couple of nights and it was a great, relaxing break before I continued on my journey to my final destination, Romblon Island.
Alternatively, you can fly into Caticlan Airport, ferry from Caticlan to Odiongan, and take a jeepney from there to San Agustin. It’s also worth seeing if you can go directly from Odiongan to Romblon Island, as some ferries on some days of the week stop in Odiongan on the way, like Montenegro Lines.
You can also ferry from Batangas, which is 3 hours south of Manila by bus. This is a long option but it’s the cheapest.
If you are planning a trip to Romblon Island, be sure to bring ample cash with you - sometimes the ATM on the island might not work! For more information and a complete Romblon Island hopping itinerary, check this post out:
