Places to see in ( Reno - USA )
Reno is a city in the U.S. state of Nevada, located in the western part of the state, approximately 22 miles from Lake Tahoe. Known as The Biggest Little City in the World, Reno is famous for its hotels and casinos. It is the county seat of Washoe County, in the northwestern part of the state. The city sits in a high desert at the foot of the Sierra Nevada and its downtown area (along with Sparks) occupies a valley informally known as the Truckee Meadows. It is named after slain Union Major General Jesse L. Reno.
Reno is the third-most populous city in Nevada after Las Vegas and Henderson and the most populous city in the state outside the Las Vegas Valley. Before the late 1950s, Reno was the gambling capital of the United States, but Las Vegas' rapid growth, American Airlines' 2000 buyout of Reno Air, and the growth of Native American gaming in California have reduced its business. Older casinos were torn down (Mapes Hotel, Fitzgerald's Nevada Club, Primadonna, Horseshoe Club, Harold's Club, Palace Club), or smaller casinos like the Comstock, Sundowner, Golden Phoenix, Kings Inn, Money Tree, Virginian, and Riverboat were either closed or were converted into condos.
Because of its location, Reno has traditionally drawn the majority of its California tourists and gamblers from the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento, while Las Vegas has historically served more tourists from Southern California and the Phoenix area.
Several local large hotel casinos have shown significant growth and have moved gaming further away from the downtown core. These larger hotel casinos are the Atlantis, the Peppermill and the Grand Sierra Resort. The Peppermill was chosen as the most outstanding Reno gaming/hotel property by Casino Player and Nevada magazines. In 2005, the Peppermill Reno began a $300 million Tuscan-themed expansion.

Helicopter Tour of Lake Tahoe, CA, USA
A quick helicopter flight tour from South Lake Tahoe airport. We take our two seater Robinson Helicopter off the runway (though we don't really use it), and then head out over Tahoe Keys with its houses on the canals and then head west to Emerald Bay with great views of this tranquil sheltered bay with a once private island and shore side mansion. The lake water clarity is quite evident as we look down from a few hundred feet and enjoy the clear air views and closeness.
South Lake Tahoe is home to various casino's on the Nevada side as well as some major hotel resorts and many smaller motels and lodges. Great skiing can be found at Heavenly Resort with a gondola ride right from South Shore.
Definitely worth a stop on any California tour,
Cheers,
Waldo

Always remember to GAMBLE RESPONSIBLY! Gambling is a leisure activity. Whether you or someone you know chooses to gamble, it’s important to understand that gambling comes with potentially serious risks. Because the fact is most people lose when they play the lottery, play a casino game, or place a bet. That’s why you, your family, and your friends should know how to protect yourselves when it comes to problem gambling.
A slot machine (American English), known variously as a fruit machine (British English, except Scotland), puggy (Scottish English),[1] the slots (Canadian and American English), poker machine/pokies (Australian English and New Zealand English), or simply slot (British English and American English), is a casino gambling machine that creates a game of chance for its customers.
Its standard layout is a display with three or more reels which rotate when the game is activated. Slot machines are also known pejoratively as one-armed bandits because they were originally operated by pulling upon a large mechanical lever on the side of the machine, and because of their ability to empty a player's pockets and wallet as a thief would.[2] Some modern slot machines may still include a lever as a skeuomorphic design trait to trigger play, but the mechanical mechanisms used in early machines have since been succeeded by random number generators, and but most are now largely operated using a mixture of push-buttons and touchscreens.
Slot machines include one or more currency detectors that validate the form of payment, whether coin, cash, or token. The machine pays off according to patterns of symbols appearing on its display when it stops. Slot machines are the most popular gambling method in casinos and constitute about 70 percent of the average US casino's income.[3]
Digital technology has resulted in variations on the original slot machine concept. Since the player is essentially playing a video game, manufacturers are able to offer more interactive elements, such as advanced bonus rounds and more varied video graphics.
Las Vegas (/lɑːs ˈveɪɡəs/,[6] Spanish for The Meadows; Spanish: [laz ˈβeɣas]), officially the City of Las Vegas and often known simply as Vegas, is the 28th-most populated city in the United States, the most populated city in the state of Nevada, and the county seat of Clark County. The city anchors the Las Vegas Valley metropolitan area and is the largest city within the greater Mojave Desert.[7] Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city, known primarily for its gambling, shopping, fine dining, entertainment, and nightlife. The Las Vegas Valley as a whole serves as the leading financial, commercial, and cultural center for Nevada.
The city bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, and is famous for its mega casino–hotels and associated activities. It is a top three destination in the United States for business conventions and a global leader in the hospitality industry, claiming more AAA Five Diamond hotels than any other city in the world.[8][9][10] Today, Las Vegas annually ranks as one of the world's most visited tourist destinations.[11][12] The city's tolerance for numerous forms of adult entertainment earned it the title of Sin City,[13] and has made Las Vegas a popular setting for literature, films, television programs, and music videos.
Las Vegas was settled in 1905 and officially incorporated in 1911. At the close of the 20th century, it was the most populated American city founded within that century (a similar distinction earned by Chicago in the 1800s). Population growth has accelerated since the 1960s, and between 1990 and 2000 the population nearly doubled, increasing by 85.2%. Rapid growth has continued into the 21st century, and according to estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau, the city had 648,224 residents in 2018,[14] with a metropolitan population of 2,227,053.[4]
As with most major metropolitan areas, the name of the primary city (Las Vegas in this case) is often used to describe areas beyond official city limits. In the case of Las Vegas, this especially applies to the areas on and near the Las Vegas Strip, which is actually located within the unincorporated communities of Paradise and Winchester.[15][16]

1960s (early) Lake Tahoe, Stateline Nevada, Casinos
This is 8mm silent movie footage taken in the either in 1960 or 1961 (I think Harrah's opened around 1960) driving east on South Lake Tahoe Boulevard from South Lake Tahoe to Stateline, Nevada.
You will get a kick out of the signs showing who is appearing at the casino stage shows. It is also pretty neat seeing all the now-classic 1950s cars.

Lake Tahoe is a retreat that has something for everyone. For those who prefer outdoor activities there are many trails into wild areas. The boating enthusiast can enjoy the immense lake where you rent or dock your own boat. On the Nevada side of the lake, there are casinos to enjoy. Of course in the winter, skiing is a featured activity. In summer, many take in the scenic beauty by driving the roads that circle the lake as well as swim at one of the many beaches. To get to Lake Tahoe from US 395 take US 50 west out of Carson City. US 50 goes through the city of South Lake Tahoe and there are other roads that will take you to the many towns along the lake.
