Hi guys! On a random Wednesday I decided to head over to COEX to wander around and look at some home goods I needed as well as showing you a quirky but ingenious thing I've been seeing a lot in Korea and Japan.
Then I crossed the street and went to Bongeunsa, a temple that had a gorgeous display of lanterns still up celebrating Buddha's birthday :) What a great night~ Thanks for joining^^

Hi guys!
We still had a bunch of footage from last week that we couldn’t squeeze into our previous ‘Lunchbox Cafe’ video :D Kyuho and I wanted to check out the newly renovated Coex Mall at Samsung station and do a little window shopping. It may sound strange, but literally right across the street from Coex Mall is a very old, beautiful Buddhist temple that I absolutely love. It’s literally right in the middle of the city, but once you are on the grounds, it’s very quiet and tranquil (aside from the cicadas, haha). I love this place so much because sometimes in the hustle and bustle of a crowded city like Seoul, it can make me feel a little closed in at times. Since this place is so close and you don’t have to travel outside of Seoul to get there, it’s the perfect area for a mini nature getaway ^^
By the way, we LOVED reading everyone's answers about living in the city/nature :D

Come walk around Bongeunsa, a Buddhist temple in the heart of Seoul's Gangnam district!
Marie and I spent a wonderful spring afternoon walking around the famous Bong-eun-sa temple located in the middle of Gangnam district, right across the street from the famous COEX Mall.
This temple was founded in 794 A.D., and has experienced a history of attacks and fires. Most recently, it was almost completely burned down in 1939 and the Korean War, with only 1 building surviving the major fires. Since then, the majority of the complex has been rebuilt and is even undergoing construction projects to this day.
In the middle of busy Gangnam district, one should take a step back into the past by visiting this temple. It's definitely worth it!
This temple also offers a Temple Stay program for visitors.

so we visited the bongeunsa temple and had loads of fun with the cutest dogs ever! we hope you had as much fun watching it as we had while we were there haha!!
the bongeunsa temple was really beautiful and we can only recommend going there if you are going to seoul (its free as well!)

Once known as Gyeonseongsa Temple(경성사), Bongeunsa Temple(봉은사) is located north of COEX, and was constructed in the 10th year of Silla King Weongseong’s reign (794). In 1498, Queen Jeonghyeon refurbished Gyeonseongsa Temple and renamed it Bongeunsa Temple.
Originally located near the Royal Tomb of King Seongjong, the temple was transferred to its current location during Joseon King Myeongjong’s reign. The temple is home to 3,479 Buddhist scriptures of 13 types, including the works of Kim Jeong-hee. The Buddhist ceremony called Jeongdaebulsa is held on the ninth day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, where monks march carrying the scriptures on their heads and recite the Beopseongge (Buddhist rites).

Bongeunsa Temple is a Buddhist temple that dates back to 794 located south of the Han River and just north of the COEX Mall in Gangnam-gu. It was originally known as Gyeonseongsa when first built. This was during the rule of King Wonseong of Silla. Its location was 1 kilometer (0.6 miles) southwest of its current location.

This is a video of my trip to South Korea I did in August 2012. Bongeunsa is a Buddhist temple in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It was founded in 794 during the reign of King Wonseong by the monk Yeon-hoe, then the highest ranking monk of Silla, and originally named Kyongseoungsa. It is located on the slope of Sudo Mountain in Samseong-dong, across the street from the COEX Mall. The temple is also a notable tourist destination, offering a Temple Stay Program in which visitors can lead the life of a monk for a few hours.

If you're looking for a place of peace and tranquility in the middle of Gangnam, visit Bongeunsa Temple - a thousand year old temple in the city center, just opposite Coex Mall.
Bongeunsa was built be Yeonhweguksa, a high priest, in the Shilla age in 794. The temple holds the title as Seoul's representative temple and more than 10,000 believers and 200-300 foreign visitors come to experience the temple each year. Its existence alone makes it a tourist sight and tangible cultural assets inside make it even more valuable.
