You're Cordially Invited presents The Cake Courtesan...Episode 10
Almost one year ago today, I had the opportunity to meet a extraordinary pastry chef at a bridal affair at National Harbor. The key attraction that automatically lured me to her table was the dramatic and elegant detail of the cakes and pastries that she had on display at the show. So, as curious as my pupils and with the battle of my pear shaped abdomen roaring and saying indulge, I rapidly made my way over to her and introduced myself and savored in her delectable delights. And boy an instant rush of gratification consumed me! Since that day, I have developed a professional relationship with Ms. Sharon White of The Cake Courtesan and just had to have her on my blog to introduce you to her.
Sharon White is the founder and lead cake designer for The Cake Courtesan. After more than 20 years of casual baking and decorating for family and friends, she opened Nostalgia Cupcakes in 2008 and closed it in 2011 to launch The Cake Courtesan. Sharon brings a very unique perspective to the art of designing cakes built upon her years of formal training and mentoring with some of the most talented cake artist in the world including the use of floral whimsy from Collette Peters, the masterful art of sugar flowers from Ron Ben Israel, creating and supporting 3-D structures from Mike McCarey, and the keen attention to detail from Bonnie Gordon. She is a proud alumnus of the Bonnie Gordon College of Confectionary arts in Toronto, Ontario, Canada where she credits Bonnie with providing her with the confidence to find her own style. Now she builds on these skills and years of training to explore all facets of cake design and create the perfect balance between artistry and taste.

The VEGAN MINIMALIST / Presentation for VegFest
PRESENTATION STARTS@4:33 Greatness is achievable by each one of us. Your job doesn’t define you. How many things you own won’t satisfy you. The number of likes on a Facebook post won’t make what you shared any more or less valuable. When it comes to our wants and needs, we are all asking the same question, “How can I have a more meaningful life?” The benefits of choosing a vegan or minimalist lifestyle are different for everyone. Join me as I share how these two lifestyles mingle sweetly with one another, exposing many common threads that can enrich your life in a joyful way.
The Vegan Minimalist is a presentation that I prepared for Peterborough VegFest after being asked to speak at the first VegFest they coordinated for the City of Peterborough (Peterborough isn't far from Toronto, Ontario). It was an enormous success which brings gladness to my heart. To see the crowds of people, vendors, and musicians is a testament to how this lifestyle is gaining momentum.
Everyone is getting the message that we all need to be eating more plants.
