EXPLORING COLUMBUS, OHIO - THE KID FRIENDLY WAY
I was recently in Columbus exploring with a family to create a film about their experiences. It turns out I would have done 75% of the things we did on my own as a solo traveler.
There were so many unexpected things I learned while I was there. For starters, Columbus has an incredible food scene! Brassica in the neighborhood of Short North was my favorite place for lunch. Short North in general is a great area to walk around to eat, shop or just people watch.
Another neighborhood I really enjoyed getting lost in was German Village. Many of the homes are covered in Ivy and are Instagram worthy. Make sure you also swing by The Book Loft (you can see it in the film above) when you're in German Village. There are 32 rooms to get lost in and find a new book to read.

Columbus Metropolitan Library has served the people of Franklin County, Ohio for 143 years. With its Main Library and 22 branches, CML is well known for signature services and programs like Homework Help Centers, Reading Buddies, Summer Reading Club, Ready For Kindergarten and the Ready to Read Corps. The library’s Strategic Plan supports the vision of “a thriving community where wisdom prevails,” which positions CML to respond to areas of urgent need: kids unprepared for kindergarten, third grade reading proficiency, high school graduation, college readiness and employment resources.
In 2015, CML’s 571,000 cardholders borrowed 17.3 million items, made 5 million visits and 1.5 million computer reservations. CML’s Homework Help Centers had 83,000 after-school visits from K-12 students, and 25,600 Reading Buddies sessions of one-on-one reading practice with K-3 students. CML serves 10 public school districts and provides book delivery to nearly 450 classrooms.
In 2016, Columbus was selected to host the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) World Library and Information Congress (WLIC), expected to draw upwards of 5,000 library professionals from 120 countries from Aug. 13-19. It represents the first time the WLIC has returned to the United States in 15 years since the event was held in Boston in 2001.
As a member of the Central Library Consortium, CML customers have access to the catalogs of 14 member libraries, totaling more than 4.5 million items.
CML was named a 2011 National Medal Winner by the Institute for Museum and Library Services for work in community service, the highest honor for libraries and museums. Columbus Metropolitan Library has been rated a 5-Star Library by Library Journal for seven of the eight years the magazine has published its industry ratings.

Pluses:
We loved the rooms with the adults king size bed and the kids room with the separate bunk beds. Everyone loved the water experience, especially the water slide.
It was fun for my self and the kids
The price, staff, activities, and comfortable beds were all good!
Minuses:
The only bad experience was that there was not enough of the water float rafters for everyone to enjoy the water and the big slide. We had to wait and share the 2 rafters we had in order to go down the slide.
2 small things that they could do to improve. 1st is get more tubes for.the slides, and replace the ones with leaks. 2nd speed up snack bar, waited over 30 minutes for a cheese burger.
The availability of outlets for phone charging was scarce. The steps to the water slides had flaking rust and raised metal that weren't good on the bare feet, the inner tube /customer ratio was poor because of deflated tubes, and the locker prices were quite high.

SUMMARY
=======
The colonial history of the United States covers the history of European colonization of the Americas from the start of colonization in the early 16th century until their incorporation into the United States of America. In the late 16th century, England, France, Spain, and the Netherlands launched major colonization programs in eastern North America. Small early attempts sometimes disappeared, such as the English Lost Colony of Roanoke. Everywhere, the death rate was very high among the first arrivals. Nevertheless, successful colonies were established within several decades.
European settlers came from a variety of social and religious groups, including adventurers, soldiers, farmers, indentured servants, tradesmen, and a few from the aristocracy. Settlers traveling to the continent included the Dutch of New Netherland, the Swedes and Finns of New Sweden, the English Quakers of the Province of Pennsylvania, the English Puritans of New England, the English settlers of Jamestown, Virginia, the English Catholics and Protestant nonconformists of the Province of Maryland, the worthy poor of the Province of Georgia, the Germans who settled the mid-Atlantic colonies, and the Ulster Scots people of the Appalachian Mountains. These groups all became part of the United States when it gained its independence in 1776. Russian America and parts of New France and New Spain were also incorporated into the United States at various points. The diverse groups from these various regions built colonies of distinctive social, religious, political, and economic style.
Over time, non-British colonies East of the Mississippi River were taken over and most of the inhabitants were assimilated. In Nova Scotia, however, the British expelled the French Acadians, and many relocated to Louisiana. No major civil wars occurred in the thirteen colonies. The two chief armed rebellions were short-lived failures in Virginia in 1676 and in New York in 1689–91. Some of the colonies developed legalized systems of slavery, centered largely around the Atlantic slave trade. Wars were recurrent between the French and the British during the French and Indian Wars. By 1760, France was defeated and its colonies were seized by Britain.
On the eastern seaboard, the four distinct English regions were New England, the Middle Colonies, the Chesapeake Bay Colonies (Upper South), and the Southern Colonies (Lower South). Some historians add a fifth region of the Frontier, which was never separately organized. By the time that European settlers arrived around 1600–1650, a significant percentage of the Indians living in the eastern region had been ravaged by disease, possibly introduced to them decades before by explorers and sailors (although no conclusive cause has ever been established).
2 Story Tiny House / $7,000 - Mortgage Free - Go Off Grid CHEAP!!!
Here's a company that is selling these 2 story 16x16 tiny homes or off grid cabins for $6,999. They build these on site but only around the east tennessee area. I said in the video they are $6,200 for 16x16 but I was thinking of the 14x14 for $5,200. This is the perfect way to own a small home cheap and mortgage free. You could pay cash for this and finish the inside over time. No point in being in debt for 30 years just to have a place to call home. A 2 story tiny home that can be built off grid. Excellent business idea also for those who know construction. You can build these for cheap and sell these as side work. Cheap, spacious and affordable living.

Homesteading Family Living Off-Grid in a Spectacular Earthship
This inspiring off-grid homesteading family lives in a renovated stone earthship. They grow their own food, collect rainwater, use solar power, have composting toilets, and they have a pond that filters their grey water. On top of living an eco friendly lifestyle, they dedicate their work to important projects like urban gardening and promoting industrial hemp as Hempbassadors.
To follow their exciting project, check them out on Facebook and Instagram here:
Off-Grid Living playlist:
Earthship playlist:
During the winter, they typically take 2-4 months off to travel, which is financially possible for them because they don't have a mortgage (the house only cost $15,000 when they bought it).
Their daughter, Emma, is in the first grade, but they take her out of school while they travel and homeschool her on the road.
Francis & Marie have dreamt of being self-sufficient for a long time. For 8 years they renovated their earthship home, planted their permaculture gardens, and prepared for the day they'd be able to live their dream full-time.
For over 2 years now they've been living on their dream homestead. They grow apples, berries, and other fruits which they preserve for winter. They also grow vegetables, and collect eggs from their chickens. In the summer, their grocery bill can be as low as $30/week because they produce so much of their own food.
Much of their harvest is kept cool in their root cellar although they would like to have a fridge.
The home is a passive solar home with a greenhouse in the front. It can stay above zero degrees on it's own, but they have a wood stove – an Amish Pioneer Princess – to heat the house, to cook, and to heat their hot water.
For rainwater, they have 3 collection systems. One is a tank in front of the house that collects water from the greenhouse, and they use a solar powered pump to transfer it into an underground cistern.
Another tank collects rainwater from the roof, and a third collects rainwater from their shed. In total they can have 10,000 litres of fresh water when all of the tanks are full.
They don't have a well yet so they get their drinking water from a cabin they have access to down the road.
They have a small solar power system for their lights, the water pump, and for the internet. They'd eventually like to invest in a bigger system but for now it works well.
Thanks for watching!
