Boom Gorge ('shoestring gorge', Kyrgyz: Боом капчыгайы, Russian: Боомское ущелье) is an antecedent gorge in Chuy Province and Issyk-Kul Province of Kyrgyzstan. From the Russian spelling, the English pronunciation would be 'boh-ohm'

The gorge cuts, in a general north-south direction, across one of Tian Shan's mountain range systems. The range east of the gorge is known as Kyungey Ala-Too (Russian: Кюнгей Ала-Тоо, based on similar Kyrgyz spelling), the one to the west is the Kyrgyz Ala-Too (Russian: Киргизский хребет).[1]

The Chu River passes northwards through it and then enters the wider Chuy Valley. The Bishkek-Tokmak-Kemin-Balykchy highway (A365) passes through the gorge, as does the railway from Bishkek to Balykchy. (Source: Wikipedia - )

Cultural tour from Bishkek to Lake Son Kul, Kyrgyzstan

Following the trails of the Great Silk Road to the alpine summer pastures of Kyrgyz nomads at Son Kul Lake!

You will see the Burana Tower of Karakhanid’s epoch (now is UNESCO World Heritage site) and the Petroglyphs open air museum - the rock drawings left by Scythian’s tribe.

You will drive through Boom gorge and pass by Ortotokoy water reservoir to Kochkor village where a local family will welcome you with hot traditional meals made of the fresh ingredients raised at the local farm.

You will have the chance to try making Kyrgyz felt carpet together with Kyrgyz artisans. Then you will drive up to Son Kul lake located at the altitude of more than 3000 m above sea level which is still the most popular place for nomads to bring their herds for summer.

This is really an experience for those looking for wild, pristine! nature, and getting away from normal everyday life.

There are two main bus stations in Bishkek. The smaller Eastern Bus Station is primarily the terminal for marshrutkas to various destinations within or just beyond the eastern suburbs, such as Kant, Tokmok, Kemin, Kegeti, Issyk Ata, or the Korday border crossing.
