Kayaking and Snorkeling in Bora Bora
Jessica and I explore some water activities during our vacation at the Sofitel Private Island Resort in Bora Bora. Watch as we kayak to the coral gardens and snorkeling in the amazingly clear blue lagoon water. I also take a stab at stand up paddle surfing. There are several free water activities at the resort but there are also paid activities like parasailing which is offered close by.

Free ride to Bora Bora
A common past time among the locals in Bora Bora is to ride the wake from a cruise ship tender in an outrigger canoe. If they can find the right spot in the wake, they are pulled all the way into port. Looks like fun!

BORA BORA HOTEL COMPARISON: Intercontinental Resorts Le Moana vs Thalasso
In November 2019 we took our honeymoon to Bora Bora. We stayed at the Intercontinental Le Moana and visited the Intercontinental Thalasso for a day. Hear my comparisons of the two! Both are amazing hotels and we plan to go back and stay at the Thalasso for our 25th Wedding Anniversary.

We've been wanting to go to Bora Bora for the longest time and we made it happen last July of 2019! From staying to an over-the-water bungalow to swimming with the sharks, it definitely was a trip to remember!
Here's a breakdown of our trip (and some tips along the way):
Step 1:
You need to book a flight to Papeete, French Polynesia. From there, you need to take another flight to go to the island of Bora Bora.
We booked with American Airlines from Reno to Papeete then flew with Air Tahiti Nui to go to Bora Bora.
Step 2:
You will arrive at Bora Bora airport. You have two options to go to your hotel. The expensive but convenient route is to directly book a boat transfer from your hotel. This usually costs $120+ round trip.
The cheaper route is to take the free shuttle to the main island of Vaitape then from there, take a cab (you will pay around $20-$30 depending on the distance) to your hotel.
Step 3:
Since eating at the hotel can cost a lot of $$, you can to buy some snacks etc. at a grocery store in the main island of Vaitape which is close to the main dock where you get dropped off. Then if you plan on doing any activities in Bora Bora, they have a visitors center where they can refer you to different agencies depending on what you want to do.
We opt out to do a 6-hour snorkeling tour which costs us about $100/person (we’ll post another video of this) and this is where you swim with the sharks and stingrays! Definitely recommended if you go to Bora Bora!
You can also book the activities directly from your hotel but this tends to be a little bit more.
Step 4: Relax and enjoy! :) This is the part where you can just be lazy and swim all day! Most of the hotels provide free rentals (paddle board, kayak, bikes etc.) for your entertainment. You can also splurge and have a nice dinner at one of their restaurants!
Step 5:
This is where you hit “Like” and “Subscribe” to our page! :) Kidding aside, we would appreciate it if you do as this will help us build our YouTube channel. We will be making more tips and tricks about travel that will help you guys! Thank you and keep on exploring!
