CHEAPEST way to see Aurora Lights - Dream Come True
Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern lights is a MUST see experience and this is how you do it CHEAP.
Filmora9 is now officially released. Download Now:
Price: USD59.99/Lifetime - Thanks for sponsoring today's video!
As a South or North American, the cheapest way to see Aurora is in Whitehorse Yukon, Canada. I compared it with all other options from Canada to Alaska, USA and from transportation to accommodations, Yukon is the place to do it!

Last year I also saw the solar winds in Yellowknife NWT and although I got the best northern lights there, I prefer Yukon for it's beautiful landscape. Manitoba also offers some Aurora borealis in the north of the province but it's very expensive to get there. This is why Whitehorse is the cheapest and my top pick for Aurora.

Spent a week exploring the scenic nature that Iceland has to offer by renting a car, going to places like the Golden Circle, South Iceland and Blue lagoon. BUBBLE HOTEL, ICELAND | Sonia Nicolson
Last week I had the chance to stay overnight in the Aurora Bubble Hotel, known as the 5 Million Star Hotel, so I took my Mum and we headed off to sleep in a bubble under the stars. A beautifully crisp winters day, we arrived into a winter wonderland, ready for the Aurora and to sleep under a blanket of stars.
The Bubbles act like a hotel and provide you with a room which is fully transparent, providing the perfect Northern Lights Hotel. Each Bubble sleeps two adults in a comfortable double bed, minimum age is six years old for health and safety reasons. The structure is completely inflatable and made out of a fire-retardant PVC tarpaulin, you literally sleep in a bubble. The structure keeps itself inflated by a slight over-pressure from a noiseless ventilation system. The system is designed to renew the air 2-7 times per hour, this also prevents any humidity. The system has an heating element with thermostat so the Bubble is cosy and warm all winter.
Nestled in a small Icelandic wood the Bubbles are the ideal Northern Lights viewing platform, lie back and watch the starry sky. Sleep under the stars, right in the woods, it's a very special night. Some of the Bubbles have a white panel around the bottom of the walls at bed height which gives a little privacy but this doesn't interfere with any Northern Lights viewing.
The location of the Bubbles is kept secret until you have booked but I can tell you that they are located in the countryside near Fludir and the Golden Circle. It's about an hours drive from Reykjavik and two hours from Keflavik Airport. The Bubbles are nestled in a beautiful spot, set back from the road and surrounded by trees. You can also see the volcanos Katla and Eyjafjallajökull in the distance.
This is an opportunity to truly chill out - lie back and take it all in. Sleeping under the stars and watching the Aurora Borealis dance above you might be a dream come true. It’s the ultimate glamping experience. So, if the sky is clear of clouds then you will hopefully have a good chance of seeing a starry sky with some magical Northern Lights dancing above your head.
The Bubbles are part of a tour offered by Northern Lights Iceland. This means that you can't stay without booking the full tour. The tour is fabulous and takes you in a luxury suburban jeep to the Golden Circle stopping at Geysir, Gulfoss and the Secret Lagoon. The tour group is small, maximum six people, and there are only nine Bubbles on the site so it feels very private.
Nearby is the town of Fludir where you could take in the waters of the Secret Lagoon. This is a unique natural hot spring, the oldest swimming pool in Iceland (made in 1891). The water holds at 38-40 Celsius (100-104 Fahrenheit) all year round. Swim and float around, try to find the hottest part of the lagoon. You can also take a short walk around the lagoon to see the beautiful landscape, original changing hut, natural geysirs heating the lagoon and the nearby greenhouse.
If you are looking for food then there is Minilik, an Ethiopian Restaurant nearby and this gets great reviews. We went to Mika, a family run restaurant specialising in handmade chocolates and langoustine dishes. I highly recommend the langoustine soup and garlic bread.
As the Bubbles are small, there isn’t room for a suitcase or many belongings so pack light. A small rucsac or hand luggage sized case is ideal. Pack you pyjamas, wash bag, camera (and tripod for Aurora shots), a good book and your swimming stuff for the Secret Lagoon. Towels are provided at the Bubble but bring your own for the Secret Lagoon.

ABANDONED SHIPWRECK // Iceland 2018
ABANDONED #SHIPWRECK // Iceland 2018
Hello everyone! I am very pleased to show you the first part of my Iceland vlog series! ????????
This trip was a big deal for my fiancée and I and also for her parents. When my fiancée and I first started dating, we already dreamed about traveling to #Iceland together. So over two years later we finally did it! We also took along her mom and dad because her mom had dreamt about going to Iceland ever since she was fourteen years old. It was a big dream come true for her!
In this first episode, we travel from Austria ???????? to Iceland ???????? It was my fiancée's dads first time flying and he was very nervous! So I made sure to document it! ???? He survived and we all made it to Iceland. On our first full day in Iceland, we drove from near the airport to Reykjavik for breakfast and then onwards through the Esjan mountain range all the way to Snæfellsnes Peninsula. After exploring the sights of #Snæfellsnes including #Kirkjufell mountain, we embarked on our journey to one of the largest cities in Iceland, #Akureyri. On the way, we suddenly found a shipwrecked boat right on the coast! So we of course, instantly stopped and went to explore the site. It was a fantastic experience. Afterward, we finally arrived in our apartment for the night in Akureyri. In total we drove over 600 kilometers in the first day!
I look forward to showing you guys all the other adventures that we had in Iceland! More videos coming soon!

A&K’s 2017 Hot List- Introducing Iceland
Iceland delivers a major hit of the surreal and the beautiful. Returning travellers' tales suggest that, for a few wonderful days, normal life is suspended. They recall sitting in hot tubs under the stellar theatrics of the northern lights; a helicopter landing on the lava field next to their lodge - 'we were expecting a helipad, but no, not in Iceland' - and driving onto vast Langjokull Glacier where the feeling of space was 'extraordinary and immense'.
BEST TIME TO TRAVEL
June to September is a great time to enjoy a mild ocean climate thanks to the Gulf Stream. It is relatively mild in winter and cool in summer but this is when you can enjoy almost 24 hours of daylight. The weather can change several times during the day. In midwinter, whilst there is little daylight, it is one of the best times to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).

10 NIGHTS UNDER THE NORTHERN LIGHTS - The aurora chasing adventure through Lapland 1/3
The Aurora borealis, also known as the northern lights, are a mind-boggling natural phenomenon that virtually everyone talks about but never really gets to see it. As an astrophotographer I have now seen and photographed lots of aurorae, but every time it's a new excitement and a whole new experience, as if I had never seen them. The lights change shapes, colors, speed or brightness and when you think you've seen it all, Lady aurora proves you wrong.
I traveled to the cold corners of Lapland (Sweden and Norway) on a ten-day aurora chasing adventure to shoot them but mostly to share their rare beauty in real-time. My goal was to show their different appearances in pristine skies and snow covered landscapes. In the mean time I was eager to bring back my best real-time shots yet and give them back to the people that have never witnessed such a show and encourage them to go out or travel. For me though it was merely one more astrophotography and personal life challenge I had to take on. I had never shot in such cold conditions, namely minus 35 degrees at the worst, but it helped me get some of the clearest night shots I have ever witnessed.
In the first episode of this trilogy I start my journey in Abisko national park in Swedish Lapland. Abisko is a charming small town located next to a frozen lake and protected by the high mountains of the 'Norwegian Alps'. There the cold is extreme, especially when the wind picks up on the lake, but this rather flat landscape gives a stunning vista towards the north for the aurora. Locals say that if the weather is clear you can see them 9 out of 10 nights. They would start as bands above the mountains overlooking the lake due north and advance higher in the sky as the storm increases. Lady aurora sure did not disappoint there. I stayed in Abisko for 5 nights, and 5 nights she showed! Halfway through my journey I was already happy with the shots I got, especially the time-lapse ones, and drove on the frozen roads of Sweden to reach Norway. I landed on Senja island, Norway's second largest island that has it all: mountains, fjords, welcoming people, fish and the aurora! In this episode only my first night on the island is showcased, and it takes one half of the video! I drove to the fjord of Berg in the evening and searched for a nice spot to shoot from. The northern lights already started to pop out around 5:30 pm in the twilight and eventually exploded early around 6 pm, lighting up the whole fjord and the small fishing town, along with the snowy mountains in the area. What a spectacle! And the pinnacle: an overhead aurora (called a corona) showed twice! On my way home from the fjords at around 2 am, Lady aurora continued to give, so I shot some scenes along the picturesque road: look at how the lights started to dance and show their magenta colors behind that house! Really a magical moment, and this is just the beginning.
In the next episode I meet with the Senja Northern Lights Observatory and you will be in for even greater shows! Stay tuned.
