Iceland Episode 6 : Borgarnes & Selfoss || 冰岛自驾游, 斯奈山半岛, 博尔加内斯镇
Day 5 of our Iceland trip we travelled back down South from Snaefellsnes to Selfoss. Along the way we stopped by the Settlement Center in Borganes & Koran in Mosfellsbaer. Our final stop was Raufarholshellir Lava Tunnel, a result of an eruption about 5100 years ago!
We stayed at River Apartment in Selfoss area which offers an excellent view of the river. We also caught the Aurora & Milky Way right outside our apartment.
今天我们从斯奈山半岛开车返回南部, 沿途会经过博尔加内斯镇, 在那的Settlement Center享用了午餐. 我们也报名参观了Raufarholshellir Lava Tunnel. 晚上在我们Airbnb的外面很幸运的又有看到极光和银河.

While walking trough our project area I noticed the main colours of materials used for advertisements, traffic signs etc. In combination with the music it reminds me of a paintball game.
Our project area in Borgarnes can be more than being grey and noisy!

Borgarnes is a town located on a peninsula at the shore of Borgarfjörður in Iceland and is the largest town in the Borgarbyggð municipality with a population of about 3750 residents. It is a main junction in Iceland and the gateway to the Snaefellsnes National Park. Iceland's capital Reykjavik is 69 kilometers from the center of Borgarnes. The second largest bridge in Iceland, the Borgarfjarðarbrú, connects traffic to and from Reykjavik.
Borgarnes was founded in the late nineteenth-century, in a region that served as the setting of Egil's Saga. The town draws its name from Borg á Mýrum, the farm of Egill Skallagrimsson, the saga's poet-hero protagonist. A museum in Borgarnes, the Settlement Center, is devoted to the region's ties to Egill Skallagrimsson.

Сегодня, перед тем, как поехать в столицу Исландии - Рейкьявик - мы съездили на север, в небольшой городок Borgarnes...

В начале марта 2017г. я совершил увлекательное путешествие в непонятную ледяную страну ветров и викингов-футболистов - ИСЛАНДИЮ!
В моем распоряжении было ровно 4 суток! Исходя из опыта своего авто-путешествия по Норвегии я и спланировал небольшой маршрут по самому туристической юго-западной оконечности острова:
Keflavík International Airport - Водопад Seljalandsfoss и Gljúfrabúi, Водопад Skógafoss, Kirkjufjara beach у г. Vik, Парк Thingvellir, водопад Öxarárfoss, долина Гейзеров, Водопад Gullfoss, город Borgarnes, Рейкьявик, озеро Kleifarvatn, серные источники Krýsuvík, птичьи скалы у маяка Reykjanes Lighthouse, Bridge America - Europe и «Голубая Лагуна».
Далее возврат машины и аэропорт... самолет домой!
В принципе, весь этот маршрут я легко и непринужденно прошел за 3 дня! Дело в том, что в отличие от Норвегии с ее горами, подъемами и спусками, серпантинами – Исландия (я говорю про тот участок острова, где находится «Золотое Кольцо» Исландии) – равнина с хорошей дорогой, где можно спокойно ехать 90-100 км/ч

Iceland Borganes Pool and Area
One of the first things we did while in Iceland was go to a public swimming pool in Borganes, we originally went to an 8 kilometer hike to a mountain top waterfall called Glymor, but the rain was coming down hard and sideways, we did not bear the hike, so stopping in the nearest town, Borganes, we visited the local public pool and thermal spa. While there we found out that an indoor scene was filmed for the huge movie, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, they used a local bakery as a Papa Johns and we visited there as well. It was this movie that inspired me to visit Iceland.

Glaumbær est une ancienne ferme traditionnelle (bois et tourbe) transformée en musée située en Islande. On peut y découvrir plusieurs outils utilisés durant cette époque (XVIII et XIX siècles).
L'accès à la plupart des bâtiments est gratuit, sauf pour le bâtiment principal qui comprend, entre autres, la cuisine, les chambres, la salle de classe et la laiterie.
A proximité de la ferme se trouve une jolie église qui a été construite en 1925-1926. Elle a remplacé une église qui avait été érigée en 1870 mais qui a été détruite par une tempête en 1923.
L'intérieur de cette église est vraiment superbe! Sur les murs de l'église, des panneaux qui proviennent d'un lutrin mis aux enchères aux alentours de 1930 dépeignent St-Luc, St-Pierre, St-Mathieu, St-Marc, Le Christ, la crucifixion et la Vierge Marie. Il semblerait que ces tableaux auraient été peints en 1685.
