- Kuching is the capital city of Sarawak, Malaysian Borneo. I was there for a few days before heading 'into the heart of Borneo' by river boat. This video shows some of the highlights including orangutans at wildlife rehabilitation centres, a sunset cruise on the Sarawak river, a cooking class and a visit to the Sarawak cultural village.
Fascinating place - I want to go back!
BORNEO NIGHT SAFARI Adventure | Kuching Wetlands National Park | Sarawak
I did a Borneo Night Safari of the Kuching Wetlands National Park in Sarawak. I did the tour with Bumbu Cooking Class and not only was the cooking class awesome, but this night cruise on the Kuching Wetlands river was insanely cool. It started off with a Borneo jungle trekking exploration and quickly turned into a thrilling chance to see Borneo wildlife at night!

Arrival to Kuching Malaysia on Borneo - Day 5 | HD |
To see the photos and read the article about our arrival to Kuching Malaysia go to:
After getting a bit lost in the singapore subway we finally got to the singapore changi airport where we took off in a plane heading to Kuching Malaysia on Borneo where we wanted to spend the rest of our vacation. We had a lot of things to do in Kuching like visiting Fairy cave and Wind caves near Bau and we also wanted to see borneo orangutans in semenggoh wildlife centre. The flight was without problems, which cannot be said about our taxi ride to the bori ottok hostel. The driver wa unable to find the hostel so he had to ask around about 3 times before one of our friends finally noticed the bori ottok hostel in Kuching china town. If he wouldn´t notice it I think we would be absolutely lost in the Kuching city at night. After leaving our backpacks in the nice hostel we went for a quick walk by the river which flows through the Kuching. We also heard one local band playing on their instruments there. I like Kuching much more campared to Singapore.

We came to Borneo to eat and made a Street Food Adventure tour video just for you. I (Trevor James, The Food Ranger) and Ting Ting as well as Chuchu, travel to the deep back streets of Kuching, in Borneo Malaysia, filming and tasting the top street foods to try in Kuching!
Some people say that Kuching is like the Penang of Borneo. With Penang being the food capital of Peninsular Malaysia, they say that Kuching is the food capital of Borneo Malaysia. There is a huge Chinese influence in Kuching and you can see lots of Chinese street food on the streets but in Malaysian style. Hawker centers are everywhere. It truly is a magical food city. There is a ton of unique cuisine to try!
Whether eating street food in Penang, Kuala Lumpur Street food, or here in Kuching having Kuching street food, it's all good and varies in flavor but you MUST come to try the street food in all of these locations! In Peninsular Malaysia, you can find Chinese street food, Indian street food, and Malay street food all over the place. Here, in Kuching, it's more Chinese street food and Iban, Bidayuh, and Malay street food. All of these come together to make Malaysian street food some of the best in the world!
We are bringing you for a huge Malaysian street food tour as well as a full-on street food ADVENTURE into Kuching's liveliest street food markets, street food alleyways, and deep food streets.
On our trip to Borneo, we found and ate a ton of cheap (NOT EXPENSIVE) and delicious street food. We couldn't stop eating all the street food that we found. This is one place in Asia you have to visit to eat the street food!
Asian street food is without a doubt some of the BEST street food in the world, and since we live in China, eating Chinese street food all the time, it's very easy and fun for us to travel overland or fly to Southeast Asia (places like Vietnam, Thailand, or Vietnam) to try the best street food when we like.
We shot this street food tour for you, eating a ton of tasty Malaysian street foods. Here are the addresses for the street foods, for your next visit to Kuching, Borneo, Malaysia:
-Hawker Center Sarawak Laksa (BEST broth in the world?)
Chong Choon Cafe 泉春茶室
275, Jalan Chan Chin Ann, 93100 Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia

I flew from Kuala Lumpur to the Highly recommended Kuching, The capital city of the Sarawak state in Malaysian Borneo. I explored the city just letting things appear infront of me (my favourite way) My favourite part was the boat tour at sunset. I had to wait 3 days to be able to do it but it was worth it. The waterfront looks stunning at night. All in all, I really enjoyed my time in Kuching, I find it to be calm and the people are friendly. There are lots of places to eat and the food is cheap.

The Island Of Borneo-Kuching, Sarawak-Random Thoughts, Advice, Highlights
I'm often surprised by certain things about a new place I've visited or discovered. Never more than on my recent trip to Kuching, Sarawak in Malaysian Borneo where I found the local people were especially friendly and welcoming. Random greetings while crossing the street, hello, welcome! Where you from? Sometimes a hello from a group of students walking home from school or just people you cross paths with in the air conditioned modern shopping mall. Island people I've found, for the most part, are generally laid-back, easy-going and friendly. I've met and have had amazing hospitality on my most recent trip to Sabah on Borneo as well. And of course the people of Taiwan are known for being some of the friendliest people on the planet. I hope the Sarawak Tourism Bureau has a big party for their people because these are the kinds of things that most visitors will remember and tell their friends and others about when they're asked what their trip was like. No doubt you're going to have some pretty awesome memories if you visit Semenggoh, the orangu-tan sanctuary or spend a day or two in Bako National Park. Having Sarawak's famous Laksa, noodle soup for breakfast, gorging on some of the cheapest and best seafood in Southeast Asia at the UTC Top Spot Food Court will certainly be big takeaways from a visit to Kuching. I can guarantee you though that provided you didn't spend your whole time in your hotel or guesthouse room, it's the kind-hearted and friendly people of Kuching that will be one of your strongest impressions of a visit to Sarawak. In this episode of the podcast I'm experimenting with a different format including more travel advice and tips that's specific to the place featured. Of course I will continue to bring you the best experiences the area has to offer. In upcoming episodes watch out for my visit to the Semenggoh Orangu-tan Reserve, Bako National Park as well as other not to be missed sites around Kuching. I was really impressed with Kuching, the range of guesthouses and hotels, the exceptional food and overall value, Old Chinatown, India Street, and of course the wonderful boardwalk along the Sarawak River. There are amazing adventure activities that can be day trips while you maintain your base in Kuching. I'm thinking if you are coming from a Western country try to devote 5-7 days around the area which could include one or two nights in Bako National Park. If you're an Asian based traveller Kuching could be a great long weekend getaway. Many Asian cities have direct flights to Kuching and Air Asia has several everyday from Kuala Lumpur. I've started a Patreon account so for as little as $1/ month you can be a sponsor of Far East Adventure Travel and have access to exclusive content. Check out the page and help support travel and production costs of Far East Adventure Travel. Help others discover Far East Adventure in the iTunes Store by writing a review. Follow the link here:
