Vlog 104. Borth 2018: Borth Zoo (Animalarium)
Borth Zoo (Animalarium) had so many updates this year, I just had to make a video to show you how much it had changed! This video contains the following shows and animals:
Meerkats & Feeding
Coatis & Feeding
Snakes and Lizards
House Cat
Owl
Wolf Dogs
Lynx
Foxes
Goats
Lemurs
Chickens & Wallabys
Sheep
Cockatoo and Ducks
Tortoise
Marmoset
Weeper Capuchin
Rats & Mice
Racoon Dogs
Lions
This video was very difficult to upload, considering I had to shorten over 50 minutes of footage into less than 30. I also had issues with 1 of my editing software corrupting the footage (after waiting several hours for each export) and I tried three other methods to merge the two halves before 5th time was the charm!

Lynx That Escaped Zoo In Wales Has Been Spotted But Remains On The Run
There’s a Eurasian lynx on the loose after escaping Borth Wild Animal Kingdom in Wales yesterday. People who live nearby have been warned to stay far away from the animal if spotted. Even though there has never been any reports of the wild cat causing any attacks on humans, it is still a dangerous animal....

Zoos are a place for the average person to see animals they might not ever get the chance to observe in the wild. Zoos also have the purpose of conserving certain species, trying to make sure they don't die out to extinction.. and in other cases they can be a sanctuary against poaching and hunters.
Levan Merritt 1986
As encounters with great apes go, Harambe wasn't the first incident of a child falling into a gorilla enclosure. It happened at the Durrell Wildlife Park in Jersey, Channel Islands in the UK, when Five year old Levan Merrit somehow fell into the zoo's gorilla enclosure, falling far enough that he lost consciousness when he hit the ground.
Beijing Zoo 2009
Pandas. They're endangered, and they're absolutely adorable. That cuteness draws in many crazy panda-fans for Gugu, a panda at the Beijing Zoo. People come from all over to see him, and more than a few have snuck into his enclosure.
Pittsburgh zoo, 2012
For all of these stories, a surprising number don't end with someone being killed, considering they're usually just feet from dangerous and unpredictable predators. But fatalities unfortunately do still happen sometimes, as was the case for two year old Maddox Derkosh.
Detroit Zoo, 1990
The Detroit zoo is a popular destination for many who wish to admire the wildlife of the world, and apparently also for those who like going where they shouldn’t be. This time though, the story has a happy ending, and the man had a good reason for jumping in. 33-year-old Rick Swope was enjoying his day at the Detroit zoo until he came across the chimpanzee exhibit.
Berlin Zoo, 2009
The case of the Berlin zoo polar bear attack incident in 2009 is both mysterious and sketchy, and not much is known right down to the name of the woman involved in this incident on our list.
Cleveland Metro parks Zoo, 2015
Once again, another case of a two-year-old boy being held on top of the protective railing and falling into an enclosure with several dangerous animals.
Santiago Metropolitan zoo
Suicide is never the answer. No matter what you might think, someone's going to be devastated by it, your community will be impacted, your loved ones will be at a loss without you and you'll be sorely missed by many.
Little Rock Zoo, 2015
A young child went to the Little Rock zoo with his father and grandfather for some fun, and multi generational bonding time.
Brookfield Zoo, 1996
Here we have a more feel-good story. A young child fell into the gorilla exhibit, and was set upon by a terrifying silverback female gorilla named Binti Jua.
Toronto Zoo, 2016
A visitor to the Toronto Zoo must have really like her hat, because she jumped down from the observation deck and right next to a flimsy fence that had a tiger behind it, in order to retrieve it. Amidst people yelling at her, calling her a moron, the woman leaped down and grabbed the hat while the tiger pounced on the fence separating them, desperately trying to get at her.
Escaped lynx Borth zoo's big cat 'humanely destroyed'
A wild cat which escaped from a Ceredigion zoo has been humanely destroyed, the county council has confirmed.
Lilleth, the Eurasian lynx, escaped from Borth Wild Animal Kingdom at some point in the last three weeks.
The council said despite exhaustive efforts to recapture her, it received advice that the risk to public safety had increased to severe.
Earlier on Friday, the council said the zoo would be put under scrutiny.

Escaped lynx 'evades capture' overnight
A statement released by the local authority on Friday evening said the lynx had strayed over to a populated area of the community and it was necessary to act decisively.
The safety of the the public was paramount, the statement added.
Staff at the zoo, which has been closed since Lilleth's escape, had been attempting to catch her.
She is believed to have escaped after making a giant leap over an electrified fence.
There had been a number of sightings but she evaded capture and was at one point thought to be hiding in bushes near the zoo.
Ceredigion council and Dyfed-Powys Police said they had tried a range of measures to capture the Lynx, including baited traps.
A post-mortem examination of a sheep found dead on land near the zoo showed traumatic injury but experts have been unable to say if the missing lynx was responsible.
The council said it would carry out an inspection of the zoo later this month.

Family from Kent settled in his own zoo
Family from Kent settled in his own zoo
Careful parents often take their children to the zoo. But Dean and Tracy Tweedy from Kent went further. Leaving their home, they bought themselves a zoo in Wales, spending about a million dollars on it, and settled on its territory. Now the three daughters of Dean and Tracy are just happy - all their lives are surrounded by animals!
The Tweedie family from Kent left their home to start a new life at the Animalarium Zoo in Aberystwyd in Wales. Dean Tweedy bought this zoo specifically to live there with his family. In the zoo, there are about 300 exotic animals, including lions, large snakes and crocodiles. Three of Dean's daughters - 8-year-old Paige, 9-year-old Sarah and 13-year-old Sophie - say that they are perfectly happy to be constantly surrounded by animals!
The purchase of the zoo cost Dina Tweedy 625 thousand pounds, that is, about a million dollars. For a zoo of this scale it is very inexpensive. According to the parents, having learned about such a low price for a real big zoo in Aberstwyth, they simply could not resist.
Mrs. Tweedy is a professional psychotherapist. She uses animals to work with patients, so the family originally planned to purchase a zoo. However, at first they believed that it would be a mini-zoo.
The Tweedie family loves animals very much. Even before the acquisition of the Animalarium, about 30 different animals lived in their house. Now their number has increased at once ten times!
