Beautiful white sand and blue water Caribbean beach in the parish of Portland, Jamaica. Well maintained. Entrance fee is 2 USD pp. Food corner and bar. Clean restrooms. Souvenirs. Located next to Boston Jerk Center, where you can eat all the jerk you want. You can get an initiation or advanced lessons at the Boston Surf School, located on the beach. Anything you may need to have a happy and stressless day, you will find here. The locals are very helpful. We strongly recommend this beach over other private beaches in the area. Mixed crowd. Good atmosphere.

Boston Beach
Boston Beach is a coastal community on the north coast of the island of Jamaica, with a public beach which is one of the few beaches in Jamaica attracting surfers. It is located nine miles east of the town of Port Antonio.
History
Around 1870 traders from Boston, Massachusetts began transporting Bananas from Portland Parish, Jamaica to Boston for sale. The Boston Fruit Company was established and the area experienced an economic boom. Eventually the company would merge with others and become the United Fruit Company which would go on to dominate the banana trade in the Caribbean and Latin America. The United Fruit Company would eventually become United Brands in the 1970s and eventually be bought by Del Monte Corporations.
The beach itself was donated to the Jamaican Government by the author Robin Moore.
Cuisine
Boston Beach is known for its jerk pork and chicken stands and could be considered the birthplace of the spicy jerk seasoning for which Jamaica is known. In Kingston, the capital of Jamaica, there is a popular local take out restaurant known as Boston Jerk.

Jamaica has a lush topography of mountains, rainforests and reef-lined beaches. Many of its all-inclusive resorts are clustered in Montego Bay, with its British-colonial architecture, and Negril, known for its diving and snorkeling sites. Jamaica is famed as the birthplace of reggae music, and its capital Kingston is home to the Bob Marley Museum, dedicated to the famous singer.
Jamaica (dʒəˈmeɪkə/) is an island country situated in the Caribbean Sea, consisting of the third-largest island of the Greater Antilles. The island, 10,990 square kilometres (4,240 sq mi) in area, lies about 145 kilometres (90 mi) south of Cuba, and 191 kilometres (119 mi) west of Hispaniola (the island containing the nation-states of Haiti and the Dominican Republic). Jamaica is the fourth-largest island country in the Caribbean, by area.[6]
Inhabited by the indigenous Arawak and Taíno peoples, the island came under Spanish rule following the arrival of Christopher Columbus in 1494. Many of the indigenous people died of disease, and the Spanish imported African slaves as labourers. Named Santiago, the island remained a possession of Spain until 1655, when England (later Great Britain) conquered it and renamed it Jamaica. Under British colonial rule Jamaica became a leading sugar exporter, with its plantation economy highly dependent on slaves imported from Africa. The British fully emancipated all slaves in 1838, and many freedmen chose to have subsistence farms rather than to work on plantations. Beginning in the 1840s, the British imported Chinese and Indian indentured labour to work on plantations. The island achieved independence from the United Kingdom on 6 August 1962.[7]
With 2.8 million people, Jamaica is the third-most populous Anglophone country in the Americas (after the United States and Canada), and the fourth-most populous country in the Caribbean. Kingston is the country's capital and largest city, with a population of 937,700.[8][9] Jamaicans predominately have African ancestry, with significant European, Chinese, Hakka, Indian, and mixed-race minorities. Due to a high rate of emigration for work since the 1960s, Jamaica has a large diaspora around the world, particularly in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.[10]
Jamaica is a Commonwealth realm, with Queen Elizabeth II as its monarch and head of state. Her appointed representative in the country is the Governor-General of Jamaica, an office held by Sir Patrick Allen since 2009. Andrew Holness has served as the head of government and Prime Minister of Jamaica from March 2016. Jamaica is a parliamentary constitutional monarchy with legislative power vested in the bicameral Parliament of Jamaica, consisting of an appointed Senate and a directly elected House of Representatives.

Blue Lagoon is located in Port Antonio and is a wildly popular travel destination for families and honeymooners.
With glistening, turquoise blue waters surrounded by lush greenery, Blue Lagoon is a vision of beauty.
The water in Blue Lagoon is a mix of fresh water and salt water, as the lagoon is open to the sea and fed by freshwater springs. If you decide to take a dip in the lagoon, you’ll notice the alternating temperatures (the warmth of the Caribbean Sea and the icy cold waters of the underground streams), which is quite an experience.
Portland
Monkey Island, also called Pellew Island, no longer has any monkeys. Monkey Island is situated offshore from the folly ruins. The stretch of water separating the Island from the mainland is very shallow, about ankle deep at low tide, so it is easy to walk across. However, watch your step if you are walking barefoot as the sea bed is dotted with sea urchins.

The island gets its name from the colony of monkeys which Alfred Mitchell's explorer son–in–law Hirman Bingham bought in to Jamaica. Mitchell who hailed from New York and married a member of the Tiffany family. The Mitchells lived in grand style with a large retinue of servants and many pets including peacocks and monkeys, the latter being allowed to roam free on the island offshore now known as Monkey Island.
On the island you will find a well–shaded beach, a small walking trail, a diving platform and great views of the coast.
The island sits at one end of a coral reef, which protects the San San Bay. It is surrounded by healthy sea grass beds and wonderful swimming areas. Jamaicans and visitors alike visit the island by boat, laze on the small beach, snorkel at the nearby reef and generally enjoy the gorgeous setting.
