☞ About ‘Bosu-dong Book Street’ (보수동 책방골목)
Bosu-dong Book Street has a unique background. It was formed after the independence of Korea (August 15) as a residential area in the empty place where the previous Gukje Market was demolished. When Busan became the provisional capital during the Korean War, refugees brought and sold their precious books for a living. As time went by, professors and students came to the alley and started purchasing books, contributing to the build up of the current book street. At that time, about 70 books stores were available for students to sell and buy used books. In the early 60’s when the publication culture was not yet settled down, many students and educated people had to sell their books and then buy secondhand books or magazines. After going through this time, the Bosu-dong Book Street became a famous book street throughout the nation.

Bosu-dong book alley in Busan
Quick walk through Bosu-dong street in Busan, which is famous for it's many book stores. Here you can find new and used books in many languages, not only Korean.
Sorry for vignetting, I didn't had a different lens at the time of filming.
Busan Bookstore Alley
[Anchor Lead]
In today’s close up, we take you on a trip along a time-worn, run-down alley famous for its vintage bookstores. Follow us as we take you to the southern port city of Busan.
[Pkg]
The Bosu-dong area in port city Busan is near the famed Gukje Market. Here, a small alleyway forms a cluster of some 40 tiny bookstores.
[Soundbite] Gwak Ae-sun(Cultural Commentator) : There was a big war in Korea in 1950 when many people fled to Busan. Stores began to open here one after another selling books the refugees brought from home and those collected from the U.S. military base.
Old books steeped in history attract the attention of passers by.
[Soundbite] The books are old but very precious. So I come to visit once in a while.
[Soundbite] I came here a lot during high school. I thought it would be nice to bring my children so we made a visit on the weekend.
Let's begin a tour of the book alley. This bookstore is the oldest on the block, having existed for 62 years.
[Soundbite] Kim Yeo-man(Bookstore Owner) : More people just browse than buy. But that's fine with me. I do business to this day considering customers as valuable.
It's said there is a so-called used book physician at this store. It's the owner who skillfully restores old books. An old book like this one with its pages falling out is transformed.
[Soundbite] Nam Myeong-seob(Bookstore Owner) : Many old books have scars and tears which is not appealing to customers. I need to cure and resuscitate them so that people can buy.
This place stands out with its entrance. The store specializes in even older books or antique books.
[Soundbite] Yang Soo-seong(Bookstore Owner) : I'm the only person who handles ancient books in this alley. I inherited knowledge and wisdom from my father for the business.
It carries a total of some 200-thousand books of bygone years.
[Soundbite] All these books are Dongui Bogam
The Dongui Bogam is a medical encyclopedia compiled by Joseon era royal physici

Bon Voyage - Ep08C04 Bosu dong Book Street
Everyone has a place they remember very well. The memories could be of love, youth or moments of intense emotion.
This week, Arirang TV's Bon Voyage visits Korea's largest city and the nation's port city of Busan, and follows a lady as she recounts her memories in the movie-like places in the city.
- Haeundae is Busan's most famous beach and a place of memories for many people.
- Nampo-dong's movie neighborhood features sights related to the annual Busan International Film Festival, as well as the scenic Mipo Village.
- The street food of Nampo-dong brings back yet another group of memories.
- The seaside Haedong Yonggung Temple is filled with people's ardent wishes from the past and the present.
- Bosu-dong's Book Street and Mural Alley, as well as Gamcheon Village, have transformed the bleak memories of war into unique identities.
- A visit to Nakdong River's estuary and Eulsuk Island marks the end of the journey in Busan.

Busan vlog Day 1: Busan Station, Chinatown, Gukje Market + BIFF Square!(:
The memory card used to store these videos is kind of corrupted so there are some issues with the videos and audio^^;
1st place I went to is Samjin Eomuk! They say it's the oldest Eomuk (fish cakes) maker in Busan. It's located at the Busan Station and nearby is Busan's Chinatown. It was pretty quiet which is kind of a change of pace considering most Chinatowns are loud and crowded.
Then I headed over to the Gukje market, the largest traditional market in Busan. It's huge! It sells all kind of stuff ranging from souvenirs, clothes, snacks, food, etc. The list goes on!
I wandered around, just got lost and ate hotteok and hodu-gwaja. I shopped a lot and ate a freshly baked pumpkin and sweet potato bread! Then went to Janet to a buffet. ????????
After which we just walked around and checked out the BIFF Square. It got its name from the Busan International film festival and the street is mainly dedicated to film.(:
[4K] Arc'N Book brand new fancy bookstore│Seoul, Korea
Today I went to a brand new bookstore, ARC.N.BOOK. It is a concept bookstore offering a lifestyle like Tsutaya Daikanyama of Japan. Inside the bookstore, there are various shops and restaurants, so it is optimized to spend a relaxing time. I hope that all you guys have a chance to see how Seoul people enjoy their cultural life in every day. :)

[ Channel Information ]
This is a project that aims to renew the 'Where I Live', which has become a boring routine and has lost much inspiration.
It would be a VLOG to someone.
It would be a short story or essay to someone.
It would be a REAL Korean Travel Guide to someone.
Whatever,
I hope that the thoughts and perspective of one person living in Seoul will be fully conveyed.
