Trieste - Mare Adriatico - Italia
Trieste is the capital of the autonomous region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, in North-East Italy. Once a very influential and powerful centre of politics, literature, music, art and culture under Austrian-Hungarian dominion, its importance fell into decline towards the end of the 20th century, and today, Trieste is often forgotten as tourists head off to the big Italian cities like Rome and Milan or the nearby Venice. It is, however, a very charming underestimated city, with a quiet and lovely almost Eastern European atmosphere, several pubs and cafes, some stunning architecture and a beautiful sea view. It was also, for a while, the residence of famous Irish writer James Joyce.
See in Trieste , Italy
===============
Città Vecchia (Old Town) - Trieste boasts an extensive old town: there are many very narrow and crooked streets with typical medieval houses. Nearly the entire area is closed to traffic.
The Austrian Quarter - Half of the city was built under Austrian-Hungarian dominion, so there is present a very large number of palaces that resemble Vienna. An iconic place of this quarter is the majestic Piazza Unità (Unity Square), which is Europe's largest sea-front square. The most present architecture styles are Neoclassical, Art Nouveau, Eclectic, and Baroque.
Museo Revoltella This museum was donated to the city in 1869 by Baron Pasquale Revoltella, a great patron of the arts who liked to surround himself with precious and avant-garde works. In a building restored and extended by architect Carlo Scarpa, the museum today houses one of Italy’s finest collections of 19th-century, modern and contemporary art.
Museo di Storia, Arte e Orto Lapidario (Museum of History and Art and Lapidary Garden) Archaeological, historical and art collections. Prehistoric and protohuman findings of local origin; Roman and medieval sculptures and epigraphs. Egyptian, Greek, Roman and pre-Roman antiques. Numismatic collection. Photograph and book libraries.
Museo di Storia Naturale - Zoological, botanical, geological, paleontological and mineralogical collections. Vivarium. Specialised scientific library.
The Roman Theatre - Trieste or Tergeste, which probably dates back to the protohistoric period, was enclosed by walls built in 33-32 BC on Emperor Octavius’s orders. The city developed greatly during the 1st and 2nd century AD. The Roman Theatre lies at the foot of the San Giusto hill, and faces the sea. The construction partially exploits the gentle slope of the hill, and most of the construction work is in stone. The topmost portion of the amphitheatre steps and the stage were presumably made of wood. The statues that adorned the theatre (which was brought to light in the '30s) are now preserved at the Town Museum. Three inscriptions from the Trajan period mention a certain Q. Petronius Modestus, a person who was closely connected with the development of the theatre, which was erected during the second half of the 1st century.
Il Faro della Vittoria (Victory Lighthouse) - The Lighthouse of the Victory, an impressive work of the Triestine architect Arduino Berlam (1880-1946) and of the sculptor Giovanni Mayer (1863-1943), has two important functions. Besides lighting the gulf of Trieste, in order to help navigation, it also serves as a commemorative monument dedicated to the fallen of the first World War. The lighthouse is topped by an embossed copper statue of Victory sculpted by Giovanni Mayer. Under this statue is affixed the anchor of the torpedo-boat Audace (the first Italian ship that entered the port of Trieste on November 3,1918),
Arco di Riccardo - The Arco di Riccardo is an Augustan gate built in the Roman walls in 33 A.D. It stands in Piazzetta Barbacan, in the narrow streets of the old town.
Museo della Comunità Ebraica di Trieste Carlo e Vera Wagner (Carlo e Vera Wagner Museum of the Jewish Community of Trieste) - Collection of ritual art of the Jewish community of Trieste, mainly silverware and fabrics.
Synagogue - It's one of the largest in Europe, and was built in 1912. Open on Sundays 10÷12 and on Thursdays 15.30÷17.30, guided tours only, info Key Tre Viaggi tel. +39 040 6726736
Museo della Risiera di San Sabba a testimonial of the only Nazi extermination camp in Italy.
Railway Museum Trieste Campo Marzio - Housed in the former railhouse, the museum features drawings, models and fullsized train engines and railcars as well as horse-drawn trams from Trieste's past.
Castle of Miramare, Trieste - Italy: Short Clip to Get an Idea About It
If you are planning to visit Miramare Castle (Castello di Miramare), close to Trieste, in Italy, here you’ll find the best tips on how to visit this Italian treasure.
Built around 1860 by Archduke Maximilian of Austria, from the Castle of Miramare (Castello di Miramare in Italian) you can enjoy a wonderful view over the Gulf of Trieste.
According to the legend, anyone spends the night here will die young in foreign land.
The Castle of Miramare stands on the tip of the promontory of Grignano. Its position overlooking the sea, provides the possibility to enjoy a wonderful view over the Gulf of Trieste. The Castle is surrounded by a beautiful park with valuable botanical species where one can relax.
A noble residence commissioned by Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Habsburg, its interiors feature sumptuous original furniture.
Characterised by the white towers described by Carducci, rather than a castle it is an example of a nineteenth-century prince residence, the result of the eclectic architectural style of that period.
Built between 1856 and 1860 by Archduke Maximilian of Austria, later Emperor of Mexico, the building is strongly influenced by a Romantic taste, as a revisited construction of a medieval fortress.
The archduke personally oversaw both the planning of the building and the layout of the large park (over 22 hectares), an English-style and Italian-style garden, rich in rare plants, sculptures and ponds, which goes down towards the sea with wide steps.
The castle is made up of over 20 rooms: particularly valuable are Maximilian's Rooms, among which the bedroom, furnished as a ship's cabin, and the Throne Room. Since 1955 the castle has been a State museum.

ENG| Geometric fabric pattern is called ketvirtainis and is very common in ancient Lithuania. It is also seen in tissues and plaids made by grandmothers. I received several gifts of these plaids. One of the fabrics is composed of yellow 'ketvirtainis' and I weaved it with sticks on the ground.

Triest - Region Friaul-Julisch Venetien - Italien
SOURCE : WIKIPEDIA

SONATA # 4 4 03
PIANO IMPRESSIONS.
Music, especially light Classical-style music, evokes many magical impressions and vivid images in our minds as we enjoy the art of musical expression. LUCIANO DROBNAK is an an Italian-born, Australian who has spent a lifetime in music. As a teenager leaving his beloved Trieste when his parents decided to migrate, he played various instruments through Europe before settling down to a full-time musical career in Australia.
He still performs occasionally in Sydney, but in recent years he has concentrated more on composing his own works.
His latest series of compositions are modern piano sonatas, written in the Classical style.
Travel journalist, Les Thompson, has added his own video scenes of various countries to this series to help listeners visualise places that these individual sonata pieces evoke.
SONATA # 4 Video Notes: The music evokes memories of a journey of discovery inside a timeless city...VENICE. By day and by evening it's an unforgettable experience.

Places to see in ( Padua - Italy )
Padua (Padova) is a city in Northern Italy’s Veneto region. It’s known for the frescoes by Giotto in its Scrovegni Chapel and the vast 13th-century Basilica of St. Anthony. The basilica, with its Byzantine-style domes and notable artworks, contains the namesake saint’s tomb. In Padua's old town are arcaded streets and stylish cafes frequented by students of the University of Padua, established in 1222.
Padova ( Padua - Italy ) is a city in North Eastern Italy, and the capital of the province of the same name. It is located centrally in the Veneto region, between Venezia on one side and Vicenza and Verona on the other.
The Padua Card allows you to visit most churches and all museums as well as to use the public transport for €16 (48h) or €21 (72h).
Landmarks
Saint Anthony's cathedral (Basilica di Sant'Antonio), Piazza del Santo Saint Anthony's Basilica is the best-known tourist site in Padova - millions of pilgrims visit every year. Built immediately after The Saint's death in the 1200s, it houses his tomb and notable relics. The statues and crucifix on the main altar are by Donatello, as is the statue of horse and rider in the square in front of the church (called Gattamelata - the honeyed cat). Free.
St. George's Oratory (Oratorio di San Giorgio). A beautiful, frescoed, and generally empty hall on the south side of the piazza next to the Basilica di Sant'Antonio. The paintings were done by two of Giotto's students, and though they are not as magnificent as those in the Cappella degli Scrovegni, you can sit down and gaze at them undisturbed for as long as you like. €2.50.
crovegni's Chapel (Cappella degli Scrovegni), Corso Garibaldi . The Chapel is in the north of the city center, not far from the bus and train stations. The walls and ceilings are covered in frescos by Giotto, completed in 1303-1305.
At 90.000 square meters, Prato della Valle is the biggest square in Europe and probably one of the most beautiful in the World. Historically a Roman theater and later a fairground, it was redone in 1775 to the present layout: a large central grassy area, surrounded by a statue-lined canal, then a broad expanse of flagstones before a couple lanes of traffic are allowed to trickle around it in the distance. Santa Giustina Basilica is along one side of Prato della Valle.
Roman ruins, including an Arena. The Arena is smaller and less impressive than those in Verona or Rome, but well-located in a lovely and well-maintained park. Chiesa Eremitani, near Scrovegni's Chapel, has an unusual wooden ceiling.
Next door to the cathedral is the Baptistry, with impressive frescos by Giusto de Menabuoi (done between 1375-1376). Astronomic Observatory (La Specola) Although the observatory was build after Galileo's time in Padova, you'll learn a lot about his significance for the research in Padova. You reach the top of the tower after a lecture of about one hour and can enjoy the view.
Botanic Garden - the first Botanic Garden in the World, operated by the University of Padova, and on the UNESCO World Heritage list since 1997. It isn't a large garden, but subtly laid out to swallow groups of people and give the impression of solitude.
( Padua - Italy ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Padua. Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Padua - Italy
