A Tour of Hobart CBD, March 2019
On my second trip to Hobart and Tasmania in general, I delve into the compact central business in more detail. Beginning at the visitor's centre on the corner of Elizabeth and Davey St, we explore Elizabeth St Mall, and walk along various inner city streets such as Macquarie, Collins and Murray St, go through Salamanca Place, the waterfront area, and the old warehouse district around Hunter Place. Hobart is a small city that's big on charm, and has preserved more historic buildings per capita than any other Australian capital. A walkable city that's a joy to explore.
Hobart Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Hobart – Tasmania’s capital city is steeped in history, come take part in the reborn city as you follow us through the town. Check out the top spots in Hobart today, and fuel your travel inspiration.
When ready, browse vacation packages to Hobart:
The onetime penal colony of #Hobart is located between Mount Wellington and Port Hobart, and features a number of exquisite colonial buildings in breathtaking natural surroundings.
There’s a variety of things to do on #vacation in the city, so chow down on seafood from a waterfront restaurant before stopping by one of the galleries built into old whale oil warehouses. Don’t forget to check out the Hobart Theatre, a must-see on any Hobart tour.
Hobart #sightseeing will no doubt include the Maritime Museum, which celebrates Hobart’s ties to the sea. Go for a sail on the Lady Nelson, a tall ship that makes regular excursions out to the harbor.
Head to MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art. This building descends three floors down into the cliffs surrounding it, and its often dark-natured artwork is featured in vast, cavernous spaces.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

TASMANIA Postcards
This is a compilation of videos I captured during my recent trip to Tasmania. It is like a collection of animated 'postcards' of places that you must visit if you ever go to Tasmania.
Cradle Mountain - we did part of the famous Overland Track, trekking to the summit of Cradle mountain in a day trip.
Bruny Island - freshest oysters you can get, straight the sea about 100m from the shop.
Wine Glass Bay - It is part of the Freycinet National Park. We walked up to the lookup point, and was deciding whether to walk down to the bay beach. Unfortunately we were a bit laid back and gave it a miss.
Not having gone to a beach while we were in Tasmania, we stopover at Mayfield Bay on our way to Hobart from Freycinet National Park.
Tasmania has some very good winery, but due to the low-volume production (mostly small boutique winery), the labels are quite obscure outside Australia. Their specialty in this cool climate region is Pinot Noir.

Hobart City Video Guide | Expedia
Hobart is located in Tasmania, Australia’s southernmost state.
Originally an infamous penal colony, Hobart is a place where the old and new meet, right at the edge of a pristine wilderness.
The waterfront is where early settlers first stepped ashore, and today the docks make a perfect place to start your adventures. Visit Australia’s oldest brewery, which is still in business today.
The Maritime Museum is a great place to gain an insight into just how important the ocean has always been to this remote place. Help set the rigging, trim the sails, and take a turn at the helm of the Lady Nelson.
A short stroll from the waterfront is Salamanca Market, a local institution for over 30 years.
Learn about the great southern wilderness and those who tried to conquer it at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery. For artwork of a more controversial nature take a ride upriver to Mona - The museum of old and new art.
South east of Hobart is Australia’s version of Alcatraz, the convict settlement of Port Arthur.
Don’t leave the city without a trip to the top of Mount Wellington, where you can imagine Hobart as it was 200 years ago.
It’s clear from the moment you arrive that this old city now beats with a young and creative heart.
