Bow Falls is a waterfall on the Bow River, Alberta Canada. Not too far from Banff city Centre. It's just beneath the famous Banff Springs Hotel.

Bow Falls is a major waterfall on the Bow River, Alberta just before the junction of it and the Spray River. The falls are located near the Banff Springs Hotel and golf course on the left-hand side of River Road.

BANFF SURPRISE CORNER View Point across the Bow Falls from Banff Springs Hotel
The surprise at the corner on Tunnel Mountain Road in the town of Banff is the sudden appearance and incredible view of the Banff Springs Hotel. The beautiful building known as the “Castle Of The Rockies” sits in the backdrop of Sulphur Mountain while in the foreground the majestic Bow River cascades down into the Bow Falls. This famous and iconic view of the hotel is promoted all over the world. There are historic pictures, paintings and postcards that date back to the late 1800’s.
There is no sign marking the view point. I’m not sure that Surprise Corner is an official name, most likely it’s something that the locals came up with. From downtown Banff it’s a five minute drive. You can access the corner from Banff Avenue by driving along to the top end of Buffalo Street, it turns into Tunnel Mountain Drive. A sudden view of the hotel will appear on the right hand side. Walking from town takes approximately half an hour. Near the view is a parking space. Across the street is an viewing platform, watch for traffic as you cross the road.
The best time for lighting is in late morning or mid-day. A small parking area sits at the bend in the road just past the observation deck.

BOW Falls BANFF National Park Alberta
Bow Falls is an easily accessible natural attraction located in the community of Banff, Alberta, Canada in the Banff National Park. The cascading falls are a popular sightseeing destination located on the Bow River enjoyed by people of all ages and all abilities.
For those who would rather drive to Bow Falls, Alberta, Canada there is a small parking lot located at the falls. However, on all our visits the parking lot was very congested and traffic was moving slow.
The viewing area at Bow Falls provides great sightseeing opportunities of the river and the falls. The Bow Falls, in Banff National Park, viewing area is located at the base of the cascading falls in the shape of a large cement-rock promenade walkway. There are some viewing benches - not many though - most people sit on the ledge of the promenade and enjoy the views of the falls.
Not like your typical waterfalls, the Bow Falls is wide and short. You might feel some mist from the waterfalls during the mid-summer due to the high water levels. You can also see the valley that was eroded by glacier activity and the Bow river over the years. Across the bridge from the town turn left onto Spray Avenue, then take a left on Bow Falls drive, you will see parking on the left soon. You may not see the falls from parking lot yet, get closer to the water and you can’t miss it. The waterfalls are to your left and the valley straight ahead of you.

Sitting a short distance away from the town of Banff and just below the iconic Banff Springs Hotel are the Bow Falls, over which flows the Bow River. The falls are easily accessible and you can see the junction of the Bow and Spray rivers just downstream (the rafters/kayakers take that route).
