Apalachicola Bowery Station
Around almost every street corner in Apalachicola you'll find a laid back atmosphere and chances are some live music by some of the locals. The sign says Warm Beer and Cold Women but I found the local Oyster City Apalach IPA to be perfectly chilled.

Apalachicola River Walk: EcoAdventures North Florida
Doug Alderson led a three day hike through the public lands around the Apalachicola River. These undeveloped lands are fed by the river, its creeks and sloughs feeding the ecosystems of the floodplain. These channels in turn carry decomposing plant matter into the main channel where it flows into Apalachicola Bay to provide nutrients for oysters. That is, if the river keeps its normal flood cycle.
On day 1, they hiked Torreya State Park's Aspalaga Unit, climbing into Means Creek and into a cave (as on our RiverTrek 2012 and 2013 videos). On day two they climbed steephead ravines in The Nature Conservancy's Apalachicola Bluffs and Ravines Preserve. The preserve is known to have some of the most strenuous hiking in Florida. While we weren't able to make the first two days of the hike, we had previously visited both locations and show scenery that is unlike any other found in Florida.
We joined them on day 3, as they moved further south to flatter, wetter terrain. On land owned by the Northwest Florida Water Management District, we hiked wherever the sloughs let us. It was the high water season on the Apalachicola, and where the path was blocked, we bushwhacked.

BOO RADLEY's E.P. SNEAK PEAK: Nashville invests in 850 duo
A sneak peak of the mixed-but-not-yet-mastered track C'mon Home from Boo Radley's upcoming Nashville-based E.P., and a short history of the band.
850-based Old Country and Americana duo Boo Radley is on a mission to share the region's musical fabric with the world, and recording their first E.P. with Nashville legends at the famous Treasure Isle Studios... which has recorded more than 50 Country Music and Rock-N-Roll Halls of Fame inductees.
(The album's iconic producer, Fred Vail, has managed The Beach Boys, directed promotions and marketing for Capital and RCA Records, and earned 20 Gold and Platinum awards in his 60 years of experience.)
Here's the story of the band's journey, an introduction to the legends of Country Music who are producing and engineering the album, an explanation of how the E.P. will be finished in Phase 2, and details on how it will be shopped to record labels when complete.
Old Country could use some New 850!

Dale Crider performs Apalachicola Doin' Time at Murrow Award Celebration 2000
In 2000 the Radio and Television Digital News Directors Association awarded an Edward R. Murrow Award to Donna Green-Townsend (co-producers Bill Beckett, Josh Azriel and Daniel Beasley) for the documentary Apalachicola Doin' Time. The documentary looked at the impact of the Tri-State Water War on the small Florida fishing community of Apalachicola. The documentary was inspired by a song written in the 1970s by now retired fish and wildlife biologist Dale Crider from Windsor, FL. Just prior to the award ceremony in Minneapolis, MN, singer songwriter Mark Smith had a celebration at his home which included several of the songwriters who had music utilized in the documentary. In this video Dale Crider sings the song that inspired the documentary.
