Tours (prononcé [tuʁ] Prononciation du titre dans sa version originale Écouter) est une commune française du centre-ouest de la France, sur les rives de la Loire et du Cher, préfecture du département d'Indre-et-Loire, dans la région Centre-Val de Loire. La ville, comptant 134 803 habitants en 2013 (population municipale au sens strict, opposée au nombre d’habitants de la ville, à savoir 138 268)2, est au centre d'une unité urbaine de plus de 350 000 habitants (2013)3, elle-même noyau d'une aire urbaine de plus de 487 000 habitants4. Elle est ainsi, selon ces chiffres, la plus grande commune, la plus grande unité urbaine et la plus grande aire urbaine de la région Centre-Val-de-Loire, ainsi que la 18e aire urbaine de France5.
Tours est la capitale de la Touraine. Cette cité est historiquement le plus important site de Touraine. L'histoire de Tours se confond avec l'histoire de la région, allant dans ses influences économiques, politiques et sociales bien au-delà des limites de l'actuel département de l'Indre et Loire6.
Tours, qui a obtenu le label Villes et Pays d'art et d'histoire, est au cœur du site de la Loire, inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO au titre de paysage culturel. Cette ville est considérée comme l'une des cités historiques où se forgea l'unité française7.

Dans le courant de l’été, le CIO (Comité International Olympique) a annoncé que le skateboard sera pour la première fois une discipline olympique lors des prochains JO de 2020 à Tokyo. L’heure de la reconnaissance médiatique semble être arrivée pour cette activité sportive et artistique qui compte près de 2 millions de pratiquants en France. Dans le Berry, l’histoire de la planche à roulettes se conjugue à tous les temps : le passé a été riche, notamment à Bourges avec un véritable âge d’or dans les années 1980 et 1990, et le futur s’écrit aujourd’hui sur le nouveau skatepark de Châteauroux, inauguré il y a un an à peine et déjà répertorié comme un des meilleurs spots hexagonaux.

Claridges in Brook Street was founded by a butler in 1855.
Then in 1860 Victorian and Albert were hosted by Empress Eugenie of France.
During World War II many of Europe’s royal families were in exile, one of whom was King Peter of Yugoslavia who fathered his son prince Alexander in suite 212.
Churchilll declared the room to be part of Yugoslavia for one day and Yugoslavian earth was placed under the bed so he could be born on Yugoslav soil.
Then Churchill discovered he hadn’t been re-elected and came to Claridges to commiserate.
Gordon Ramsey used to run the restaurant but no longer since losing his Michelin star.
Brook Street is also home to the Handel Hendrix museum.
The word brook refers to the Tyburn river which used to run here.
Savile Row is where the Tuxedo was invented by Henry Poole when
James Potter of Tuxedo Park NY was invited by the prince of Wales to sandringham. He wanted the same suit as the prince.
In 1969 The Beatles performed their last ever gig on the roof of Apple Studios at No.3 Savile Row but the police closed it down after 40 minutes.
Burlington Arcade
1819 - Lord Cavendish inherited Burlington house and built this covered arcade to stop people throwing things into his garden.
He recruited beadles from his old regiment the 10th Hussars so his wife and friends could shop unmolested. These beadles are now the oldest police force in the world.
No running, whistling or opening umbrellas.
The Punch Bowl - 2008 It was bought by Guy Ritchie and Madonna for 2.5 million off the son of a gangster.
Ritchie retained Madonna’s share after they divorced.
Famous patrons include David Beckham, Princes William and Harry, Leonardo di Caprio, Robert Downey and Justin Timberlake.
It was investigated for charging tourists more than locals but cleared.
Ritchie sold it in 2013.
