Alligator Creek, Bowling Green Bay Nat Park, Townsville is a great stop to relax among gum trees or go walking to explore the surrounding creek environment. The campground provides designated sites for tent based camping and is not suitable for Caravans, camper trailers and motorhomes. Flushing toilets, cold showers, tap (water must be treated before drinking), camping tables and a public phone are provided.
This is a popular day use spot with swimmers and campers so bookings are essential. A beautiful spot close to Townsville.
The site is pay to stay and not pet friendly.

Alligator Creek National Park (Australia)
Roughly 15 minutes south of Townsville on the Queensland coast of Australia, Alligator Creek National Park is a great place to swim, jump and hang out with wild kangaroos like we did! We visited in March of 2009 and had the place to ourselves - and a few hopping kangaroos, of course. And, no there's no gators here!

Alligator Creek swimming hole is about 20 kms south of Townsville, Australia in Bowling Green Bay National Park - and YES we can fly here!!! The creek flows between two rocky mountain groups – Mount Elliot and Saddle Mountain.
The swimming hole is cool and refreshing about 5 kms along Alligator Creek Rd.
The park has toilets, picnic and camping facilities. If you’re lucky you might also see rock wallabies, bush turkeys and the odd goanna.

Not the best place for the DJI Phantom 4 Advanced due to the lack of open space and high trees surrounding the waterholes. That said, still a fun day out to fly!

Alligator Creek
Just a quick edit from one of my latest flights when I was over in QLD. Alligator Creek is part of Bowling Green Bay National Park and is less then 5 minutes drive from our place over there. I hiked into the area with one of my mates (juz) and we had a ball flying in some amazing spots. There are picnic and BBQ facilities as well as a great walking/hiking track there and also some real nice swimming spots.
PS: Can anyone spot the crocodile/Alligator head in the rocks?

Rock hopping with Ant in the Bowling Green Bay National Park, North Queensland. Was a really fun day, with perfect weather, just a little wind and some mini thermals coming off the rocks. Flying there was amazing.
