Boxgrove Priory, Chichester, West Sussex, England - June14
Woke up this morning and the weather was fine. No wind in the air and plenty of sunshine.
Been meaning to pop to the priory on my way to work and this morning I did just that. What a brilliant 'summer day' in England.
Boxgrove Priory is such a peaceful place and whilst my video and editing skills are pretty bad, you can see what a fine place this is.
Fair bit of wind up in the air and I managed to catch my prop on the flint so I guess that won't help the jello.
Filmed using Phantom 1 with GoPro Hero Silver at 720HD 60fps and edited using free GoPro software. I did seek permission from the Boxgrove vicar before filming and he was cool so long as no commercial gain.

Walks in England: Boxgrove Priory in West Sussex
Today I have a walk around the ruins of Boxgrove Priory' lodging house. The main church has been restored now and looks magnificent inside. I have a poke around there too. The monastery was far larger in its day, but after the dissolution of the monasteries priory fell into ruin.

Boxgrove Priory Ruins ( THE MONKS ARE STILL HERE )
Boxgrove Priory:
The small Benedictine priory of Boxgrove in West Sussex was founded in about 1107, originally for just three monks. In a beautiful setting at the foot of the South Downs, the principal remains include a fine two-storey guest house, roofless but standing to its full height at the gable ends. The priory church became Boxgrove’s parish church after the Suppression of the Monasteries and is still in use.
only the lodging house and part of the church and chapter house remain. They are grouped around a small field, which is the site of the cloister of the monastery.
The west part of the monastic church was demolished in the 18th century but the chancel, central tower, transepts and easternmost bay of the nave survive as the impressive present-day parish church. (This building is not in the guardianship of English Heritage.) There is a model of the monastic buildings inside the church, as an aid to understanding the layout of the monastery.
The remaining monastery buildings lay to the north of the church, surrounding the cloister, but do not survive above ground.

Wedding Photography - Boxgrove Priory, West Sussex
What did we love most about Josh and Tori’s wedding? Every. Single. Bit. Of. It.
Seriously.
Right from the start, we loved this couple- they are great company, super funny, and so smitten with each other, and we knew that their big day would be infused with tonnes of music, style, laughter and joy…
To add to the all-round fabulousness of this day, this was our first ever wedding at Boxgrove Priory, and we were blown away by how beautiful it is, both inside and out- honestly, just wait until you see the ceiling. And the ruins. And the meadow.
After Josh & Tori’s ceremony, which ended with ice cream cones for everyone, it was time to move onto their stylish, relaxed reception, which was held in a marquee in Tori’s parents’ garden. The marquee was decorated with so much love, care and quirky personality that all their guests were completely enchanted from the moment they arrived. There was lots of delicious food and drink, lots and lots of live music, and lots and lots and lots of dancing which went on until the wee hours. It was a truly fabulous celebration of love, and we’re so grateful to have been invited to capture it all.
Just take a look… it’s utterly gorgeous in every way.
Lovingly captured by Dennison Studios Wedding Photography.

Boxgrove Priory and Church - West Sussex
Boxgrove Priory - 1000 years of history
Boxgrove Priory was founded in about 1066 by Robert de Haye, who bestowed the church of St. Mary of Boxgrove upon the Benedictine Abbey of Lessay in 1105. The Domesday Book mentions that Boxgrove had the status of a parish and that a church existed before the Norman Conquest. All traces of this were obliterated by the Priory, linked to the Abbey of Lessay in Normandy and the great Benedictine Abbey of Bec.
By 1187 there were around 15 monks living in the Priory, providing alms to visitors. The well preserved ruins of the 14th century lodging house still remain to the north. The priory is managed by English Heritage who maintain its current state of peaceful decay to ensure it can be enjoyed by future visitors. The adjacent Boxgrove Priory Church
dates from the early twelfth century, dedicated to St Mary and to St Blaise, and opens daily in daylight hours. For 900 years Boxgrove villagers worshipped in this magnificent building and its glory is still much in evidence, despite losing the west end of the Priory during the Dissolution of the Monasteries by King Henry VIII. The church features a stained glass window near the altar of Billy Fiske, a WWII Hurricane fighter pilot killed during the Battle of Britain.
