st Janskathedraal den Bosch the Netherlands
The Cathedral Basilica of St. John Evangelist, [commonly referred to as the St. John's Cathedral, in the city centre of's-Hertogenbosch is often considered the climax of the Brabant Gothic. Particular harmonious interior is the result of the unity of style that the entire construction period from late fourteenth to early sixteenth century continued to maintained. The outside delivers with his generous ornaments, such as the double flying buttresses with the 96 luchtboog figures and the reliefs above the Windows, a striking image of the trim drift of the late Gothic. The Sint-Jan ' an edifice that is totally unique in the Netherlands, in ecclesiastical architecture. The Saint John is on the corner of the Parade and the Tower Street, which is the main entrance, impresses by its size and wealth of sculpture. Originally built as a parish church, the Sint-Jan in 1366 to Collegiate Church and Cathedral of the new diocese in 1559 to's-Hertogenbosch
On June 22, 1929, the Saint John granted the honorary title of Basilica. The building has the shape of a cross Church, more specifically a cross basilica. In the Sint-Jan are a richly decorated, 350 kilos copper baptismal font from 1492, a three-part altarpiece from the beginning of the sixteenth century with carved scenes from the passion of Christ, that with six on either side painted panels can be closed, a pulpit from the middle of the same century with carved scenes. The nearly twenty meters high organ-case dates back to the beginning of the seventeenth century and is considered to be ' a work of art by Royal allure, though the most beautiful organ fronts in the world. ' [3] the renaissance organ itself is, retaining many parts, in 1784 converted into a full fledged eighteenth-century instrument.
The Church is among the Top 100 of the Rijksdienst voor de monumentenzorg and counts as the so-called Whopper monument, a qualification that since the year 2000 when the national Government is in use in the distribution of financial resources earmarked for the benefit of restorations

's-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch), the Netherlands Part 1
Part 1
The city's official name is a contraction of the Dutch des Hertogen bosch—the Duke's forest. The duke in question was Duke Henry I of Brabant, whose family had owned a large estate at nearby Orthen for at least four centuries. He founded a new town located on some forested dunes in the middle of a marsh. At age 26, he granted 's-Hertogenbosch city rights and the corresponding trade privileges in 1185. This is, however, the traditional date given by later chroniclers; the first mention in contemporaneous sources is 1196. The original charter has been lost. His reason for founding the city was to protect his own interests against encroachment from Gelre and Holland; from its first days, he conceived of the city as a fortress. It was destroyed in 1203 in a joint expedition of Gelre and Holland, but was soon rebuilt. Some remnants of the original city walls may still be seen. In the late 14th century, a much larger wall was erected to protect the greatly expanded settled area. Artificial waterways were dug to serve as a city moat, through which the rivers Dommel and Aa were diverted.
The birthplace and home of one of the greatest painters of the northern Renaissance, Hieronymus Bosch, 's-Hertogenbosch suffered a catastrophic fire in 1463, which the then (approximately) 13-year-old Bosch probably witnessed; presumably, this fire provided inspiration for the fiery hell-scapes that would later make Bosch famous.
Until 1520, the city flourished, becoming the second largest population centre in the territory of the present Netherlands, after Utrecht. The city was also a center of music, and composers, such as Jheronimus Clibano, received their training at its churches. Others held positions there: Matthaeus Pipelare was musical director at the Confraternity of Our Lady; and renowned Habsburg copyist and composer Pierre Alamire did much of his work at 's-Hertogenbosch.

Brabant is a special province and the Brabander is not your average Dutchman. Pleasure and success are two sides of the same coin in this region. In Brabant, they know that the hard and soft sides of life strengthen one another. Feeling good means performing better. Rather than being a reward for success, pleasure leads to further success. A region where innovation, enterprise, partnership and hospitality go hand-in-hand. An enterprising, innovative, successful region in Europe, where life is pleasant. That's what makes Brabant unique. This movie shows the strenght of the region!
