Brading Roman Villa
I went on holiday to the Isle of Wight in September of 2014. While I was there I went round and had many adventures. One of those adventures was to the Roman Villa in Brading. Unfortunately the memory card in my camera wasn't big enough to record the whole villa, but I did get an introductory talk and the living rooms. If you have any questions, leave a comment and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Roman Origins of Portchester Castle
While on the Isle of Wight, David and Mariza investigate the fascinating remains of Brading Roman Villa, a country home built at a time when the island was called Vectis. Then it is back over the channel to Portchester, where they visit the magnificent castle, which was originally a Roman fort. David talks about the renegade general Caurasius, who had the fortress built. Lastly, at nearby Fishbourne, they explore the ruins of a palace, which was once the home of a Celtic ruler.
We hope you enjoy watching this #antiquitiestravelguide about Brading Roman Villa, #Portchestercastle, and the Fishbourne Palace as much as we enjoyed making it.

Halfway between #Marlborough and #Hungerford and not far from #Newbury and the #M4 lies the magnificent #countryhouse #hotel Littlecote House and in its grounds lies their spectacular #roman #mosaic.
Take a walk into their #parkland and you will fine a vast roman #villa built during the reign of #JuliantheApostate featuring a #collegium for the roman #cult of #bacchus. Stunningly well preserved this mosaic features a boss of #Persephone #Venus #Nemesis and #Demeter all circling #Orpheus. It features a unique #triconch of three asps, the only one in #Britain. This rare #pagan site was built at the very end of neo-platonism and the rise of #christianity.
The last gasp of #RomanCivilisation before the #FallofRome into the #darkages.

Introduction to Whitehall Roman Villa (2009)
A brief account of the archaeological excavation at Whitehall Farm Roman Villa in Northamptonshire UK at the end of it's 9th annual, one month dig.
To bring the story right up to date, see the website at whitehallvilla.co.uk. In 2010 we found a tesellated pavement (very rare in these parts) and some re-cycled roof trusses used in laying the foundations of the earlier bath house - even rarer, and possibly unique in the UK!
Brading Roman Villa's BIG BIG with Alan Titchmarsh
Brading Roman Villa on the Isle of Wight is undergoing a new and extensive dig headed up by Professor Sir Barry Cunliffe. Alan Titchmarsh officially opened the dig on 3rd August 2008. The dig will take place each August for the next five years.
