Brahmagiri is a mountain range in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra.[1] It is situated in Nashik District in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple is located near this place. The origin of the sacred Godavari river is near Trimbak. It flows for 1,465 kilometres (910 mi), first eastwards across the Deccan Plateau then turns southeast, entering the West Godavari district and East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, until it splits into two watercourses that widen into a large river delta and flow into the Bay of Bengal.

Durg Bhandar or Bhandar Durg is a watchtower to Trimbakgad on Brahmagiri Mountain. It lies in Metghar Killa region of Trimbakeshwar, Nashik consisting one of the 12 jyotirlingas in India. The uniqueness of this watch tower is that it is connected to the main mountain via rock wall bridge with narrow cut stairs into the fissure of the mountain.

Brahmagiri is a mountain range in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra. It is situated in Nashik District in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple is located near this place. The origin of the sacred Godavari river is near Trimbak. It flows for 1,465 kilometres (910 mi), first eastwards across the Deccan Plateau then turns southeast, entering the West Godavari district and East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, until it splits into two watercourses that widen into a large river delta and flow into the Bay of Bengal.

Brahmagiri, the hill (giri) of Lord Brahma, appear in many mythological and legendary documents. Legend says that the saint Gautam and his wife Ahalya resided on this hill. Saint Gautam worshiped Lord Shiva to bring Ganga in this hill. This river is known as River Gautami in the Brahmagiri hills.

The undulated terrains of Brahmagiri are challenging spots for adventurous travels like nature walk and trekking. There are many trekking trails nestled among the woody trees. The ranges are rich with natural attractions and scenic spots.

Brahmagiri hill is considered as a huge form of Lord Shiva and hence the mountain climbing was considered as a sin at that time. In the year 1908, Seth Lalchand Jashodanand Bhambhani of Karachi and Seth Ganeshdas built 500 steps of stone at a cost of Rs. 40,000. This has facilitated easy access to Brahmagiri. The water flows in three directions on the mountain. The one flowing towards east becomes Godavari river, one flowing towards the south is Vaitarna river and the one flowing towards the west is called the west-flowing Ganga and meets Godavari near Chakra Tirth. River Ahilya meets Godavari in front of the Trimbakeshwar temple. Childless families worship at the Ahilya sangam and it is believed that they do get a child.

The first peak of Sahyadri is called Brahmadri. The story associated with this is that Shankar was pleased with Brahmadev and said “I shall be known by your name”. Hence it is called as Brahmagiri. The mountain is 1800 feet high. Its height from sea level is 4248 feet. Five peaks of this mountain are called Sadyo-Jata, Vamdev, Aghora, Ishana and Tat-Purusha and are considered as five mouths of the Lord Shiva and they are worshipped.


Brahmagiri (1298 meters)is to the west of trambakeshwar and this fort offers a commanding view of the Jawhar Mokhada region of Thane district. Trimbakeshwar itself is a place of worship because it is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.

From Trimbakeshwar, through regular steps, Ganga dwar is reached and the Gorakshanath cave which is end of Trimbakeshwar. Now again while climbing down, there is a road going towards Brahmagiri towards right. Following this route one reaches the carved steps in the rocks. The steps are very good even in the recent times. They were blown off by Britishers in 1818 but later on, they were rebuilt somewhere before India gained independence. From the base village, Brahmagiri is around 450 to 500 meters elevated

From base village, it takes 45 minutes to see Ganga dwar, the Gorakshanath caves and 108 Swayambhu Mahadev caves and in the halfway while descending, the road towards Brahmagiri takes you till the top in around 45 minutes and almost 2 hours to see the fort completely. There are 2 temples on this fort the place which is believed to be the origin point of Godavari river. From here, the river flows till Ganga dwar and then towards Kushavart teerth in Trimbakeshwar village.

One can reach this place by an ascent of about 750 steps made on concrete. There is a shrine dedicated to Goddess Ganga. The river appears here as coming out from the mouth of Nandi. Kolambika Devi temple and a group of 108 shivalings are seen nearby.

Introduction:
Sinhasth Kumbh is held in the Nasik-Trimbakeshwar area of Maharashtra.
Nasik city is situated on the banks of Godavari River, 8 km to the west of Nasik railway station on the Delhi-Mumbai rail route.
Trimbakeshwar is 29 km to the west of Nasik. Godavari river originates from Brahmagiri. Shiva's famous Jyotirling is also situated here.
The area to the north of Godavari is called Panchvati where Lord Ram spent 12 years of exile and Laxman cut the nose of Shurpankha, Ravan's sister.
Asia's largest golf course is also situated in Nasik.
Nasik is also famous for its grape gardens. It is also known as the wine capital of India.
The Godavari (Marathi : गोदावरी)(Telugu: గోదావరి) is a river in the south-central India. It starts in the western state of Maharashtra and flows through the Southern state of Andhra Pradesh before reaching the Bay of Bengal. It forms one of the largest river basins in India. With a length of 1465 km, it is the second longest river in India, after the The Ganges, and the longest in southern India. It originates near Trimbak in Nashik District of Maharashtra state. It flows east across the Deccan Plateau into the Bay of Bengal near Yanam and Antarvedi in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.[3]
The Godavari is a major waterway in central India, originating in the Western Ghats Trimbakeshwar, in the Nashik Subdivision or District Of Maharashtra and flowing eastwardly across the Deccan Plateau through the state of Maharashtra. It is known as dakshin ganga (Southern Ganges) because it originates from river Ganga (underground water) near Trimbak in Nashik. It enters Andhra Pradesh at Basara in Adilabad district. While passing through the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh it touches a small village called Dharmapuri, which is a pilgrimage village with many ancient Hindu temples and river Godavari serving as spiritual place in true sense for bathing in Godavari river spread over rocks and sand. While crossing the Deccan Plateau and then turns to flow in a southeast direction until it empties into the Bay of Bengal through two mouths.[4] Basara, on the banks of Godavari in Adilabad District, is home to a famous temple for Goddess Saraswati and is the second temple for the Goddess in India.
Rajahmundry, is the second largest city (Nashik is the largest city) on the banks of Godavari. At Rajahmundry, Godavari is in its widest form having a width of approximately 5 km from Rajahmundry to the other bank at Kovvur.
The Sri Ram Sagar Project which was constructed on this river (1964--69) serves the irrigation needs of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Warangal districts.
Although the river arises only 80 kilometres from the Arabian Sea, it flows 1,465 km to empty into the Bay of Bengal. Just above Rajamundry, there is a dam that provides water for irrigation. Below Rajahmundry, the river divides into two streams that widen into a large river delta which has an extensive navigable irrigation-canal system, Dowleswaram Barrage that links the region to the Krishna River delta to the southwest.[5]
The Godavari River has a drainage area of 312,812 km². It includes more than one Indian state. Furthermore, the drainage ares covers nearly one-tenth of of the area of India and is greater than the areas of England and Ireland put together. The major tributaries of the riiver such as Pravara, Indravati, Manjira River, Bindusara River,Sabari RiverWainganga, and Wardhadischarge an enormous volume of water into the Godavari
It is located at the source of the Godavari River, the longest river in peninsular India. The Godavari River, which is considered sacred within Hinduism, originates from Bramhagiri mountains and meets the sea near Rajahmudry. Kusavarta, a kund is considered the symbolic origin of the river Godavari, and revered by Hindus as a sacred bathing place. The current temple was built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao (a.k.a Nanasaheb).

Trimbak is a city in Nashik district in Indian state of Maharashtra. The Trimbakeshwar's Shiva temple is worship as it is one of the 12 Jyotrilingas of lord Shiva. In the month of Shravan people do Brahmagiri parvat parikrama which is also know as Feri. There are two types of Feri routes Small and Big. Specially on 3rd monday of Shravan lakhs of devotees performs the Feri to take blessings of lord Shiva.

Aurangabad - Nashik - 182 km.
Nashik - Trimbak - 28 km.

Some Suggestions and Observations:
1. Plenty of eateries and Lodges are available for your food and accommodation at Trimbak city.
2. Don't carry valuables with you while Parikrama.
3. Keep asking for guidance to villager throughout the way of Parikrama or best is to get guide from village before starting the Parikrama.
4. If you wish to do Big Feri, then 3rd Monday of Shravan is good but the path will be crowded with lakhs of devotees performing the Parikrama.
5. It will take approximately 7-8 hours for Small feri and 12 hours for big feri.

I would Like to tell you about Godavari Born Place, its Amazing Wonderfull Locations. Godavari, the Dakshin Vahini Ganga, Nashik District of Maharashtra and continues its journey over 1465 kms in the south east to meet the Bay of Bengal at Narasapuram in West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Like many Indian rivers, Godavari’s origin is consecrated with a Shiva Temple, the Trimbakeshwar, which is also one of the 12 Jyotirlingas (most of them near a river). And like many other rivers, it has an elaborate myth and a hymn in its honour. The river has a sister, Gautami, right at its origin in Maharashtra and again a distributary called Gautami right where the river falls into the sea in Andhra Pradesh!

ब्रह्मगिरी हा सह्याद्रीच्या रांगेमधला एक विशाल डोंगर आहे. उंचीनुसार हा महाराष्ट्र राज्यातील दुसऱ्या क्रमांकाचा सुळका आहे. याची समुद्रसपाटीपासूनची उंची १२९५ मीटर आहे. ब्रम्हगिरीच्या दक्षिणेला कळसूबाई, अलंग, कुलंग, मदन अशी सह्याद्रीतली काही शिखरे आहेत. हा डोंगर त्र्यंबकेश्वर तालुक्यात आहे. येथे खूप पाऊस पडतो.

ब्रह्मगिरी डोंगरामधून वैतरणा नदी, अहिल्या नदी आणि गोदावरी नदी या नद्यांचा उगम होतो. वैतरणा पश्चिम दिशेने खाली उतरते आणि अरबी समुद्राकडे जाते तर गोदावरी पूर्वेच्या दिशेने आंध्रप्रदेशात राजमहेन्द्री इथे बंगालच्या उपसागराला मिळते.
