Split to Dubrovnik by Bus | Croatia Travel Vlog
Join us as we travel from Split to Dubrovnik by bus as we continue our journey across Croatia. We kick things off with an apartment tour in Split which ended up being our most spacious living space on this entire trip featuring 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 washing machines and a large living room. It was an incredible airbnb apartment with one of the loveliest and most accommodating hosts we've had in a long time:
Split Apartment:
Discount Code:
In terms of the bus ride it cost the equivalent of 16 Euros in local Croatian Kuna. The ride itself took 4.5 hours and was one of the most visually stunning bus trips we've ever taken. It was more like a sightseeing tour and to be honest I could have kept on going. Upon arriving at our apartment in Dubrovnik we show you the views of the Old Town before saying goodbye.

Split to Dubrovnik by Bus + Split Apartment Tour | Croatia Travel Vlog Video Transcript:
Good morning good morning. Good morning guys. Someone has had a transformation since the last video. Yeah. From Wolverine to clean cut. I do this about every 2.5 months I'd say. Yeah. How was it going to the barber in Croatia? Oh, it was awesome. These guys were true professionals. Yeah. Like these older gentlemen they wore like white it was almost like lab coats and they took their job seriously. They did a great job like I really like what they did they even put a little bit of cream around the sides and they were using their razors, splashing some alcohol on after. Like these guys knew what they were doing. So you got pampered. Yeah it was a really good price I think it was 5 or 6 Euros or something like that. Oh nice. In local currency it was 40 Kuna. I remember now. Anyways today is a travel day. We haven't didn't spend much time in Split. We only had 4 nights here. Mmmhmm. Um and so we're moving on to Dubrovnik. Mmmhmm. Really excited about that. This is the one city in Croatia that we really really want to visit. Yeah. Everyone raves about it. Everyone raves about it. We've been watching a couple of videos on it and it just looks absolutely stunning. So we're really excited to be going there today. And yeah we're taking a bus. But anyways before we do that let's give you a tour of our apartment. Yep. So as you know we're traveling with my parents. My Mom and Dad and also Val.
So we got this was our coolest apartment so far. We got three bedrooms that had 3 bathrooms. What a luxury. Yeah we each had our own bathroom. Like my parents had their own bathroom, we did and Val had her own bathroom.
Alright Audrey and Pumpy. We are about to say fare thee well to Split. What did you guys think of this place?
Uh beautiful little coastal town. Yeah. Great for sailors, great for walkers, great for cyclists.
And in the summertime probably great for beaches as well. Yeah. This time of year it was just perfect for us because we were leaving cold Italy. Yeah. And uh leaving it behind. It was when we left Venice we were escaping the Beast from the East in terms of weather and we came here and it was at least like 14 or 15 degrees warmer.
What did you think Audrey? I really enjoyed it. I'm still thinking about that burger with the truffle mayo. Yeah. That was the highlight right there. And we also had that great seafood meal as well with fish. So it is a great launching point. It is also not too far to Dubrovnik. We only have a four and a half hour bus ride. And do you remember the price of those tickets?
16 Euros each. Oh yeah. Because we asked everyone for money. It came to 16 Euros I forget the price in Kuna but yeah it literally came to 16 Euros per person. The two days that we have in Dubrovnik are scheduled to be sunny. Tomorrow and the next day so yeah we'll make the most of those. Really looking forward to it. They say Dubrovnik is the jewel of Croatia the pearl of the adriatic.
This is part of our Travel in Croatia video series showcasing Croatian food, Croatian culture and Croatian cuisine.

CROATIA VLOG || A Long Weekend In Split, Hvar & Dubrovnik || Run Char
Croatia Travel Vlog (Split, Hvar and Dubrovnik) Summer 2017
In June 2017, I went to Croatia for 5 days with my sister. We split our time between Split, Hvar and Dubrovnik. Here are some of the things we did during our stay:
SPLIT:
Croatia's second-largest city, Split, has the perfect balance of tradition and modernity. It's home to dozens of bars, restaurants, shops, markets and beaches, whilst still having thousands of years worth of history to explore.
Places to visit include The Cathedral of St Domnius, Diocletian's Palace, Marjan Forest Park, Peristyle Square, Basement Halls of Diocletian's Palace and The Markets.
For excellent views of Split, hike up Marjan Forest Park or pay a small fee to climb the Cathedral and Bell Tower of St. Domnius (181 step stairs to the top).
There are also small beaches, museums, the infamous Krka Waterfalls and wineries.
HVAR:
Hvar (probably my favourite place in Croatia) is a stunning, small bay town a few hours away from the mainland. Hvar has a number of beautiful beaches, lots of nice restaurants/cafes and great nightlife!!!
My top recommendations for Hvar, is walking/climbing from the town centre to the Fortress. Here you can see incredible views of Hvar and the bay area.
The blue and green cave tour is a day trip that's also worth doing! The first stop on the tour is the Green Cave, where we got the chance to get out and swim. It was then off to the hidden inlet called Stiniva for some sunbathing and swimming, before making our way to the Blue Cave (which was INCREDIBLE!!). After seeing the Blue Caves, wee were taken to the island of Vis and a fishing village, Komiza, before ending the day on the Paklinski Islands.

DUBROVNIK:
We only had an evening and morning in Dubrovnik, but managed to see most of its Old Town. Encircled with massive stone walls completed in the 16th Century, Dubrovnik's Old Town is filled with small markets, bars, museums and restaurants.
Other points of interest include Fort Minceta and Fort Bokar, Pile Gate, the numerous walking tours (including ghost tours, game of thrones tour and old vs new city tours) and the stunning bay area.
It was really easy (and fairly cheap) to travel between the Islands and mainland.

Our visit Dubrovnik travel guide covers some of the top attractions including a food guide to local Croatian food, top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day and by night including visiting the old city walls, palaces, cathedrals, island hopping and more. We cover activities you won't find in a typical Dubrovnik tourism brochure, Dubrovnik itinerary or Dubrovnik, Croatia city tour also known as Grad Dubrovnik Hrvatska.
20 Things to do in Dubrovnik, Italy Travel Guide Video Transcript: (Grad Dubrovnik Hrvatska):
Is there a more visually stunning city than Dubrovnik? Nicknamed the Pearl of the Adriatic, this destination is sure to capture your gaze. Between it’s white limestone buildings, bright terracotta rooftops and cobalt blue waters that sparkle under the sunlight you'll be dazzled during your visit. This was the final stop of our travels in Croatia, and what a way to finish of our trip.
We walked up, down, and around the Old Town clocking thousands of steps each day, and in this video we’re going to take you on a tour of of the city and show you 15 things to do in Dubrovnik.
We entered the Old Town through Ploće Gate, which is in the east end of the city strolling along the Old Port. We explored the Old Town on foot visiting Dubrovnik Cathedral, which at one point was even funded by England’s King Richard the Lionheart, after he was saved from a shipwreck on the nearby island of Lokrum.
We wandered over to Gundulić Square where a few vendors had set up for the day to sniff out a few treats. We stopped at Big Onofrio Fountain, which was built in 1438 as part of a water system that supplied water from a spring 12km away.
Then, another attraction unexpectedly caught our attention: The Old Pharmacy at the Franciscan Monastery.
Founded in the year 1317, this in-house pharmacy was set up by Franciscan friars and would go on to service the town as well as people living beyond the walls. There’s still a pharmacy within the monastery today.
We tried to visit the Rector’s Palace, which was built in the late 15th century for the elected rector who governed Dubrovnik, but it was under renovation.
A sightseeing boat tour called the “Panorama Excursion” departed from the Old Port and went out around Lokrum Island.
We decided to eat at Mea Culpa, and ordered one Dalmatian Pizza and one Seafood Pizza.
It was time for the main attraction: walking around Dubrovnik’s Old City walls. Admission is 150 kuna for a 2 kilometres walk that takes about 1 hour to complete.
The first set of walls were built in the 9th century, and then in the 14th century these were strengthened with forts along the circumference. This attraction is worth the price tag. From here you can admire the all of the old town, gaze at the shimmering waters of the Adriatic, and look out to the neighbouring Lokrum.
After that quick ice cream break, we walked over to Fort Lovrijenac, also known as St. Lawrence Fortress.
Perched on a cliff 37 meters above the sea, this fortress dominates sea and land entrances from the western side of the city.
We made a stop at Buza Bar, which is great place for drinks anytime of day, but especially so around sunset. Gradac Park, was also used as one of the Game of Thrones filming locations, so you may recognize it from the Purple Wedding.
That’s a wrap for Dubrovnik and the rest of our time in Croatia! We hope this video gave you ideas of some of the things you can do in Dubrovnik on your own visit.
This is part of our Travel in Croatia video series showcasing Croatian food, Croatian culture and Croatian cuisine.

A CHEAP DAY IN DUBROVNIK, CROATIA
We had a great (and not to mention, cheap) day explore Dubrovnik, Croatia on a budget.
We lost ourselves down the quiet cobbles back streets away from the chaos of the busy Old Town.
We climbed to the top of Mount Srd, which has the best view of Dubrovnik, Croatia and surrounding islands. Better yet, it was FREE!
We didn't stop for lunch at the top of the mountain as it was expensive so we wandered back into Old Town to find a cheap meal.
Finally we sort out a (to well) hidden gem, free of tourists to enjoy some peace after a hectic day of exploring Dubrovnik.

Has tourism killed Dubrovnik, the jewel of the Adriatic?
(21 Sep 2018) LEADIN:
Is massive tourism killing Dubrovnik, the jewel of the Adriatic?
Huge cruise ships, Game of Thrones tours, and streets clogged with tourists have left locals complaining that their historic walled city has turned into Disneyland.
STORYLINE:
Croatia's medieval city of Dubrovnik has been transformed by tourism.
Sun seekers crowd the city's small beaches and thousands of visitors disembark daily from huge cruise ships.
Crowds of tourists are clogging the entrances into the ancient walled city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
People are bumping into each other on the famous limestone-paved Stradun pedestrian street lined with medieval churches and palaces.
Fans of the popular TV series, Game of Thrones, pack the narrow streets in search of the locations where it was filmed.
Marc van Bloemen has lived in the old town of Dubrovnik since childhood. He says it used to be a privilege, now it's a nightmare.
Van Bloemen, who lives in a house overlooking the bustling Dubrovnik Old Harbor in the shadows of the stone city walls, thinks the town is in danger if something is not done fast.
It's beyond belief, it's like living in the middle of Disneyland, van Bloemen says.
It happened that 13 cruisers in one day have disembarked. So now, it's much better. It's only eight ships.
UNESCO warned last year that the city's world heritage title was at risk because of the surge in tourist numbers in relation to the sustainable carrying capacity of the city.
In 2017, Dubrovnik city authorities announced an initiative called Respect the City to counter the problem by limiting the number of tourists from cruise ships visiting the Old Town to a maximum of 4,000 at a time during one day.
But the plan still has to be implemented.
I wouldn't agree that Dubrovnik is something close to Disneyland, says Romana Vlasic, the head of the town's tourist board. Dubrovnik is a medieval UNESCO heritage site.
We are now organizing tourist arrivals, especially the cruise ship arrivals. That will allow other tourists and citizens to move easily within the city.
While pledging the curb in the daily flow of visitors, the tourist board says that this summer season in Dubrovnik is really good with a slight increase in numbers.
Municipal data shows that over 800,000 tourists visited Dubrovnik since the start of the year, a six percent increase from the same period last year.
The city had three million overnight stays, which is four percent more.
The tourist board says that the recent success of the Croatian national soccer team at the World Cup brought new visitors to the city.
Busker Krunoslav Djuricic, who plays his electric guitar at Pile, one of the two main entrances of the walled city, says he's very aware of the sheer number of people passing by on the streets.
That mass tourism might not be something ideal what we really need, even though Croatia made a lot of money out of it. I don't think that's something superb, he says.

First Time CLIFF JUMPING! + Awesome ITALIAN Food in DUBROVNIK, CROATIA // 078
Today I went kayaking in Split, Dubrovnik with a company called red Adventure. They also brought us to a prime cliff jumping location! For the first time ever, I jumped off a cliff into the ocean! It was exhilarating!
After an awesome last day in Split, I took my bus to Dubrovnik, where I climbed a steep hill to my hostel, and found an incredible little Italian place for dinner! I hadn't realized the Italian influence on Croatia before now, but this Italian dinner in Dubrovnik was so good!
(The Italian restaurant I went to in Dubrovnik [with an awesome view and delicious food] is called Belvedere, located at Ul. Iva Vojnovića 58, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia. I had a 3-course meal for $16USD.)
