Fun Facts: Home of the highest pricing per square foot in the United States. Contains the greatest concentration of individual wealth in New York City. A significant location of political fundraising in the United States. Host to some of the most famous museums in the world.
The Upper East Side is a neighborhood in the borough of Manhattan in New York City, having a long tradition of being home to some of the world's most wealthy, powerful and influential families and individuals. Most members of New York's upper-class families have made residences on the Upper East Side, including the oil-rich Rockefellers, political Roosevelts, political dynastic Kennedys, thoroughbred racing moneyed Whitneys, and tobacco and electric power fortuned Dukes.
Located between Central Park/Fifth Avenue, 59th Street, the East River, and 96th Street. The area incorporates several smaller neighborhoods, including Lenox Hill, Carnegie Hill, and Yorkville. Once known as the Silk Stocking District, it is now one of the most affluent neighborhoods in New York City.
The Upper East Side maintains the highest pricing per square foot in the United States. A 2002 report cited the average cost per square meter as $8,856; however, that price has noticed a substantial jump, increasing to almost as much as $11,200 per square meter as of 2006. There are some buildings which cost about $125 per square foot (~$1345/㎡). The only public housing projects for those of low to moderate incomes on the Upper East Side are located just south of the neighborhood's northern limit at 96th Street, the Holmes Towers and Isaacs Houses. It borders East Harlem, which has the highest concentration of public housing in the United States.

Fran Lebowitz on the Decline of New York City, Bookstores and the Rise of Tourism (1999)
Tourism in New York City serves over 50 million foreign and American tourists each year including day-trippers. Major destinations include the Empire State Building, Ellis Island, Broadway theatre productions, museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and other tourist attractions including Central Park, Washington Square Park, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, the Bronx Zoo, Barclays Center, Coney Island, South Street Seaport, New York Botanical Garden, luxury shopping along Fifth and Madison Avenues, and events such as the Tribeca Film Festival, and free performances in Central Park at Summerstage and Delacorte Theater. The Statue of Liberty is a major tourist attraction and one of the most recognizable icons of the United States. Many New York City ethnic enclaves, such as Jackson Heights, Flushing, and Brighton Beach are major shopping destinations for first and second generation Americans up and down the East Coast.
New York City has over 28,000 acres (110 km2) of parkland and 14 linear miles (22 km) of public beaches.[4][5] Manhattan's Central Park, designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, is the most visited city park in the United States.[6] Prospect Park in Brooklyn, also designed by Olmsted and Vaux, has a 90 acres (36 ha) meadow. Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, the city's third largest, was the setting for the 1939 World's Fair and 1964 World's Fair.
New York City has a rich musical culture and history.[13] Accordingly, numerous jazz, gospel music, rock and roll, rhythm and blues and hip hop tours are available. Popular locations for music tours include Harlem and the East Village.
Food tours are another option for visitors. New York is one of the top culinary destinations in the world. New York's food culture, influenced by the city's immigrants and large number of dining patrons, is diverse. Jewish and Italian immigrants made the city famous for bagels, cheesecake and New York-style pizza. Some 4,000 mobile food vendors, many of them immigrants, are licensed by the city and have made Middle Eastern foods such as falafel and kebabs standbys of contemporary New York street food.[14] The city is also home to many of the finest haute cuisine restaurants in the United States.[15] Food tours allow visitors to try a wide variety of these foods economically and learn about the city's culture.[16] Tour companies include New York Food Tours, Local Finds Queens Food Tours and Rum and Blackbird Tasting Tours.
Visitors to New York City also partake in sports tourism. Sporting events draw tourists to major venues such as the Yankee Stadium, Citi Field, and Madison Square Garden, and to street events such as the New York City Marathon.
New York City is one of the major film capitals of the world. Through specially arranged tours, tourists can visit the scenes of TV shows and movies such as Seinfeld, Friends, Sex and the City, Saturday Night Live, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Miracle on 34th Street, Godfather, and Taxi Driver.

The City of New York was founded at the southern tip of Manhattan, and the borough houses New York City Hall, the seat of the city's government. Numerous colleges and universities are located in Manhattan, including Columbia University, New York University, Weill Cornell Medical College, and Rockefeller University, which have been ranked among the top 40 in the world.

New York City’s 43rd Annual
Village Halloween Parade
Halloween or Hallowe'en (a contraction of All Hallows' Evening), also known as Allhalloween, All Hallows' Eve, or All Saints' Eve, is a celebration observed in a number of countries on 31 October, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows' Day. It begins the three-day observance of Allhallowtide, the time in the liturgical year dedicated to remembering the dead, including saints (hallows), martyrs, and all the faithful departed.
It is widely believed that many Halloween traditions originated from ancient Celtic harvest festivals, particularly the Gaelic festival Samhain; that such festivals may have had pagan roots; and that Samhain itself was Christianized as Halloween by the early Church. Some believe, however, that Halloween began solely as a Christian holiday, separate from ancient festivals like Samhain.
Halloween activities include trick-or-treating (or the related guessing), attending Halloween costume parties, carving pumpkins into jack-o'-lanterns, lighting bonfires, apple bobbing, divination games, playing pranks, visiting haunted attractions, telling scary stories and watching horror films. In many parts of the world, the Christian religious observances of All Hallows' Eve, including attending church services and lighting candles on the graves of the dead, remain popular, although elsewhere it is a more commercial and secular celebration. Some Christians historically abstained from meat on All Hallows' Eve, a tradition reflected in the eating of certain vegetarian foods on this vigil day, including apples, potato pancakes, and soul cakes.

Clarion Hotel Park Avenue South, Manhattan NYC Cheap Hotel Review
Clarion Hotel Park Avenue South, Manhattan NYC - Cheap hotel near Times Square, Broadway Theater District, Grand Central Station, Subway.
I was looking on a travel website for a budget hotel in Manhattan (south of 110 Street) and to my surprise, the Clarion Park Avenue popped up with a very competitive rate.
I was amazed because Park Avenue South between 29th and 30th is a great location. Granted it's another world from the Park Avenue of the Waldorf-Astoria, but the Clarion's location is really convenient.
Besides location, the Clarion Park Avenue boasts many amenities that may not be expected of a budget hotel.
I was shocked when the front desk agent told me about the free continental breakfast. Free internet, cable television, and a comfortable bed sealed the deal.
The hotel is very safe, well lit, and clean. While I was staying there, many of the other guests appeared to be international tourists.
The room was very tiny by normal American standards. I would call it European boutique style. In fairness, the front desk agent told me that this particular room is marketed as a single room only. Two people could have probably fit into the bed if they cuddled.
All in all, I was pleasantly surprised with my experience at the Clarion Park Avenue. I felt that the hotel provided a good value and I slept great.

Jason Momoa Gets Emotional Talking About Nearly Losing Emilia Clarke
Nothing can break the bond between one of Game of Thrones' most memorable couples.
Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo on the first season of the HBO fantasy drama, got emotional when discussing his on-screen wife Emilia Clarke's health battle that almost took her life… twice. The Daenerys Targaryen actress revealed earlier this year that she had previously suffered two brain aneurysms, the first of which came in 2011, just as Game of Thrones was taking off.
Speaking with ET at the Game of Thrones Season 8 premiere in April, Momoa praised Clarke's courage and tenacity during the hardest time in her life.
In March of 2019, Clarke penned a moving essay for the New Yorker in which she detailed that she had experienced a brain aneurysm at the age of 24, and then was stuck with a brain bleed two years later while doctors attempted to reduce the size of the original aneurysm.
The actress opened up about the emergency surgery she underwent to seal off the aneurysm. Clarke then detailed the second operation required to take care of the expanding growth in her brain plus the subsequent surgery needed when that operation failed and left her with a massive bleed. She wrote,
The operation lasted three hours. When I woke, the pain was unbearable. I had no idea where I was. My field of vision was constricted… I couldn't remember [my name]. Instead, nonsense words tumbled out of my mouth, and I went into a blind panic. I'd never experienced fear like that, a sense of doom closing in.
Of her second and third surgeries, she wrote,
The recovery was even more painful than it had been after the first surgery. I looked as though I had been through a war more gruesome than any that Daenerys experienced… And there was, above all, the constant worry about cognitive or sensory losses. Would it be concentration? Memory? Peripheral vision? Now I tell people that what it robbed me of is good taste in men.
In the midst of all this hardship and a double-brush with death, Clarke was actively filming Game of Thrones, as well as rehearsing for the 2013 Broadway rendition of Breakfast at Tiffany's. Though she kept her composure, told virtually no one about what she had been through, and even denied the genuinely accurate reports that she had experienced life-threatening trauma, Clarke was overwhelmed with exhaustion and anxiety. She wrote,
On the first day of shooting for [Game of Thrones] Season 2… I kept telling myself, 'I am fine, I'm in my twenties, I'm fine.' I threw myself into the work. But, after that first day of filming, I barely made it back to the hotel before I collapsed of exhaustion… If I am truly being honest, every minute of every day I thought I was going to die.
But, like the fireproof Mother of Dragons she plays, Clarke was resilient and determined, and came out on the other side with a renewed sense of hope and purpose. After bravely sharing her story with the public, Clarke announced that she had partnered with executives in the United States and the United Kingdom to develop a charity called SameYou, which works to provide additional and more immediate rehabilitation options for young people who have suffered brain injuries, as well as to fund research, advocate for policy change, and facilitate innovations in specialist nurse training.
Six seasons later, Clarke says she couldn't be more grateful to have cheated death twice and lived to help bring Game of Thrones to its epic conclusion. She wrote,
There is something gratifying, and beyond lucky, about coming to the end of Thrones. I'm so happy to be here to see the end of this story and the beginning of whatever comes next.
