Approaching Mount Brent Knoll
Somerset has so much to offer special on a fair weather day. Plenty of hills are so inviting to climb. Just make sure you don't get a heart attack and bring some nice perfume the local one is not that attractive. The views however are breathtaking even more than the smell... The soup was amazing...Thank you, to the volunteers...
The Somerset Church of 'St Michael', Brent Knoll, March 2011.wmv
Over the years I have passed through the churchyard of St Michael's ,on route for a climb up the Knoll, but this is the first time the church has been open for a look inside. A feeling of lots of space, with its high ceilings an elevated altar area. The sculpture based a puritan looking family is really amazing along with the stain-glass windows and the beautifully carved wooden pews. Overall a very peaceful church nestled at the base of Brent Knoll. Much history surrounds this area with the English Civil War, Bloody Judge Jefferies, the Battle of Sedgemoor where the royalists met the rebels of Somerset with their pitch forks , smocks and cider.

Landscape photography | Snow at the peak district | HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Made my way once again to the beautiful Peaks, My first stop was at Ramshaw Rocks they form a gritstone escarpment along with Hen Cloud and the Roaches which marks the south-western edge of the Peak they stand as a line of silent sentinels guarding the entrance to the Peak District,.The Snow was a bonus to have and the landscape was amazing to photo and to hike. Then from there i headed north towards Buxton to find a lovely location Three shire heads a popular place for snappers. And then i drove back down towards the roaches to Lud's church to which i had to cancel due to poor light and lack of car parking spaces. it was a stunning day and one to remember.HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL.

Hay Bluff & Black Hill, Hard Routes and Mistakes
Hard Route Easy Peak: #2 Hay Bluff & Black Hill
The second in the series of harder routes up peaks we have all conquered many times. As you have seen it didn't all go to plan, starting with forgetting the map to ending with an ankle injury (1 day on and a very swollen ankle! I think just a minor sprain).
With this video I have tried to add a bit more content, mainly from the build up, the actual hike and scramble was shorter than I had planned but I think you still get the overall idea of what the route holds.
With the routes I i often go miles (literally) out of my way to make the route harder, if you are short on time then these routes aren't for you!

One of the best views in Somerset - Crook Peak, Mendip hills
A walk to the top of Crook Peak, Somerset, New Year’s Day 2018.
Crook peak is the hill that you can’t fail to see if you’re heading south on the M5 motorway in Somerset. It’s distinctive crooked peak is on your left a few miles south of junction 17 for Weston-super-Mare. The 360 deg view from the top is worth every step of the climb. On a clear day you’re able to see the reservoir at Cheddar, the town of Weston and across the bristol channel to the black mountains in Wales. Brent Knoll a few miles south is easily visible in any weather.
