INTERNATIONAL DRAIN MEET 2013 -- 23 FEBBRAIO 2013 -BRESCIA, ITALY
Ogni anno, a febbraio, un meeting. Ogni anno, una città diversa. Questo è ciò che riunisce tutti gli esploratori professionisti di fiumi sotterranei del globo da 7 anni a oggi. Sabato 23 febbraio 2013, dopo circa 9 anni di esperienza sul campo e con grande soddisfazione, è stato il momento di Brescia Underground. L'IDM, ovvero International Drain Meet, è un incontro nato dall'idea di un rinomato esploratore urbano londinese, colto dalla voglia di far conoscere le proprie radici, la propria storia e la propria terra da un punto di vista insolito e diverso. Questa innovativa e originale idea di un giorno di condivisione ha così stimolato la curiosità e la voglia di conoscere degli innumerevoli esploratori in materia che, a loro volta, hanno continuato ad alimentare questo incontro per tutti gli anni successivi presso le loro città sotterranee. Non si tratta di un semplice e dozzinale festeggiamento fuori dagli schemi, ma bensì di un felice momento di unione che rende gioia a tutti coloro che fanno parte di questo affascinante mondo parallelo colmo di scoperta e avventura. Dopo i precedenti meeting a Londra, Anversa e in altre città mondiali, eccoci qui riuniti sotto un unico nome, esploratori da Inghilterra, Scozia, Stati Uniti, Australia, Spagna, Francia, Svezia, Olanda, Belgio, Germania e Colombia nel segno di un irripetibile evento che rimarrà sempre nei nostri più bei ricordi. La piccola Brescia può esserne orgogliosa. Lo staff di Brescia Underground vuole ringraziare, in ordine sparso, tutti coloro che hanno contribuito alla perfetta riuscita di questo meeting, operando per mettere in totale sicurezza e comodità la serata.

Pochi sanno che Brescia è stata conformata e urbanizzata sull'acqua. Eppure è proprio così: numerosi fiumi, canali, rogge attraversavano il centro storico, conferendo al paesaggio un aspetto totalmente diverso da quello che vediamo oggi. Che fine ha fatto questa rete idrica così importante per la città in epoca pre-industriale? Giace nel sottosuolo, interrata dal tardo XIX secolo (sotto l'impero austriaco), quando venne dimenticata, non interessando più a nessuno fin quando l'Ass.ne Brescia Underground (fondata ufficialmente nel 2006) ha deciso di trarre dall'oblio un passato che è ancora vivo e pulsante, recuperandone la memoria. Quello che andiamo a fare oggi è un tour che si sviluppa interamente nel sottosuolo e nell'acqua, lungo il corso del fiume Bova. Sul tragitto, otto tappe ci fanno riscoprire i segreti del volto nascosto dell'antica Brixia. Un viaggio emozionante e misterioso di scoperta e conoscenza.

Brescia is a city and comune in the region of Lombardy in northern Italy. It is situated at the foot of the Alps, a few kilometres from the lakes Garda and Iseo. Founded over 3,200 years ago, Brescia (in antiquity Brixia) has been an important regional centre since pre-Roman times. Its old town contains the best-preserved Roman public buildings in northern Italy and numerous monuments, among these the medieval castle, the Old and New cathedral, the Renaissance Piazza della Loggia and the rationalist Piazza della Vittoria. The monumental archaeological area of the Roman forum and the monastic complex of San Salvatore-Santa Giulia have become a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of a group of seven inscribed as Longobards in Italy, Places of Power.
Brescia is considered the industrial capital of Italy. The metallurgy and the production of machine tools and firearms are of particular economic significance, along with mechanical and automotive engineering. The major companies based in the city are utility company A2A, steel producer Lucchini, firearms manufacturer Beretta, shotgun producer Perazzi, machine tools manufacturer Camozzi and gas control manufacturer Cavagna Group. Nicknamed Leonessa d'Italia (The Lioness of Italy), Brescia is the home of Italian caviar, and is known for being the original production area of the Franciacorta sparkling wine as well as the prestigious Mille Miglia classic car race that starts and ends in the city. In addition, Brescia is the setting for most of the action in Alessandro Manzoni's 1822 play Adelchi. Brescia and its territory will be the European Region of Gastronomy in 2017.
Brescia is located in the north-western section of the Po Valley, at the foot of the Brescian Prealps, between the Mella and the Naviglio, with the Lake Iseo to the west and the Lake Garda to the east. The southern area of the city is flat, while towards the north the territory becomes hilly. The city's lowest point is 104 metres (341 ft) above sea level, the highest point is Monte Maddalena at 874 metres (2,867 ft).

Il Comune di Brescia dichiara guerra ai writers. Attraverso l'attività della Polizia Locale e sotto la regia della Procura della Repubblica, sono infatti stati indagati 34 ragazzi dai 13 ai 38 anni. L'attività era partita dopo l'episodio di vandalismo del dicembre 2013 quando cinque giovani fecero irruzione nel deposito della Metro imbrattando altrettanti vagoni. I cinque, ritratti in un video postato su youtube sono stati tutti invididuati dopo una complessa attività d'indagine. Tra loro anche insospettabili incensurati, laureati e di buona famiglia provenienti da fuori provincia. Inviduato anche un inglese 24enne, al momento detenuto in Austra, che imbrattò i vagoni della Metro lo scorso gennaio. Gli altri 28 indagati invece sarebbero per lo più minorenni, spesso studendi, responsabili di diversi imbrattamenti sul territorio comunale. Per loro non solo attività repressive, il Comune individuerà anche percorsi alternativi nell'intento di educare, incanalando positivamente le capacità artistiche.
