We’re hitting the road to Raglan in the Waikato region of New Zealand! Our backpacking trip in New Zealand takes us along the roads of the Waikato toward Raglan. On the way, we take a small bushwalk to Bridal Veil Falls.
The Bridal Veil Falls are a short drive from Raglan and a definite must-do in New Zealand. They are just off the side of the road and so easy to access. We get several different vantage points of the huge Bridal Veil Falls in Raglan, starting from the top of the waterfall. We walk through the forest and down some steps to get a view of the middle of Bridal Veil Falls then all the way to the bottom where we can see the base of the waterfall. Here, we really get the feeling that we are seeing one of the most beautiful waterfalls in New Zealand!
At sunset, we drive into the town of Raglan itself where we stop at the Raglan Backpackers. We spend the night socialising at this awesome surf hostel in Raglan.

BRIDAL VEIL FALLS / RAGLAN / WAIKATO VLOG #14
Standing at 55 metres high, Bridal veil falls is an amazing sight to behold. Despite the no swimming policy in the waterfall (waters do not meet the standards for swimming), it's still worth going to. Raglan is approximately 2 hours away from Auckland and you only have to walk for around 10 to 15 minutes from the carpark to the top of the waterfall so it is totally accessible to anyone.A further walk through a steep network of stairs would take you down to the bottom of the waterfall where you will see the waterfall in all its glory. Definitely a must-see.

On your way towards Raglan, New Zealand you have the option on going for a short 10 minute hike to Bridal Veil Falls. A stunning waterfall that has carved out a circular pool at the bottom over decades of time.

Bridal Veil Falls, Raglan | New Zealand Travel Diary 03
Bridal Veil Falls is about 40mins away from Hamilton city. The height of the fall is about 55m and it dances around the place to suit the wind. You can view the falls from three levels, top, mid way and right at the foot of the fall. The walk is easy though there are over 200 steps to get to the bottom.
The forest is lush and from the bottom of the falls you can see how it gets it’s name!

Wairēinga/Bridal Veil Falls are about 55 metres high and located next to Raglan, Waikato, New Zealand. The waterfalls are following the Pakoka River. You can easily reach the falls within a 20 minutes walk from the car park.
