Spirit of Tasmania - Flavours of Tassie Showcase Bridestowe Lavender Farm with Anna Robertson
Bridestowe Lavender Estate has the largest singular plantation of lavender in the southern hemisphere, if not the world. The 91 year old farm was established at Lilydale in 1922 before later being moved north to Nabowla in 1947. This gorgeous area of Tasmania has a pristine growing climate and offers unbelievably fertile soils. Bridestowe have taken advantage of this by growing not just lavender but also potatoes, onions, carrots and rows of vineyard grapes.
There are few things more spectacular than a flowering field of lavender - a beautiful, rich purple sweeps across the terrain and a divine floral scent fills the air. That's the scene every summer at Bridestowe Lavender Estate in Tasmania's North East. As part of the Flavour of Tassie Showcase on board the Spirit of Tasmania, they're appearing on board over the next week offering product samples including Lavender shortbread and even Lavender cheese to passengers.
Bridestowe Lavender Estate is located in the north east of Tasmania, about 45 minutes from Launceston. Come along and treat yourself to an unforgettable lavender-infused experience.

Bridestowe Lavender Farm Tasmania
Bridestowe Lavender Farm is one of the tourist attraction in the north of Tasmania. There peak season is December to January where all the flowers are bloom. There harvest season will be in the middle of January to February. There teddy bear is one of the best selling souveniers where you can use it to warm you in winter and it has lavender dried flower in it. Also there ice cream is very yummy not too sweet just perfect! So guys if you are already here in Tasmania grab the opportunity you wont regret it.

I recently took a trip with some of my family to Tasmania! We took the Spirit of Tasmania, across the Bass Strait, then road tripped around the island. Our first stops were the Bridestowe Lavender Estate and Bay of Fires.

Bridestowe Lavender Estate Tasmania is about 40 mins north of Launceston in Tasmania, Australia. Gorgeous place if you manage to make it down towards the late afternoon during golden hour. There is a tour you can take which explains the process of how to harvest lavender and the process of creating lavender oil. This is my short vlogg about the things I learnt.

A perfect day trip from Launceston city to the outskirts. The first stop to an invigorating virgin experience of the lavender fields; a pasture of purple serene is something not to be forgotten. Next, ending off with mother nature's great ocean (Bay of Fires) on Tasman East Coast. Welcomed by orange 'carpeted' lichens, the scene is just out of the world.

每年的12-1月是薰衣草盛開的時期
這個時候來塔斯玩的朋友，千萬不要錯過這個景點！
這座薰衣草園位在朗塞東北邊，距離市區大概50分鐘的車程而已。
塔斯的天氣在過完聖誕節後，終於變得穩定又溫暖了！
不出門溜搭實在太對不起老天爺賜予的好天氣啦～
（特別要注意防曬！這裡的太陽非常非常毒辣！
一到農場，我們都被廣闊無際的花海給震懾住！
真的好壯觀喔！！
應該是目前看過規模最大的花海了吧！
除了薰衣草田可以讓大家拍個過癮之外
園區也設有販賣部供人選購薰衣草的相關商品。
另外，不能錯過的還有巨無霸薰衣草冰淇淋
幾乎遊客人手一支，薰衣草的花香搭配濃郁的奶香，值得一試！
（建議兩人吃一支份量剛剛好喔！）

Discover Tasmania Bridestowe Lavendar Farm.
Bridestowe Lavender Estate covers 100 hectares of Lavender fields, infrastructures, native bush land and cultivated pine forest. It has a Mediterranean climate of cool and wet winter and warm dry summer. The lavender relies on a natural rainfall of at least 900 ml.
During the flowering time bees are brought to the farm to pollinate the flowers. In doing so the flowers set deed. Greater seed set produces better oil yields. Each year the harvested lavender are dried. It takes 250 kg. of cut fresh flowers to produce 25 kg of dried flowers only.
SUMMER - The farm is at full bloom mid December.The best time to visit the farm. The harvest
process begins in early January and lasted for 4-5 weeks.
AUTUMN - The old plants are removed and paddocks prepared for the planting season. It involves controlling the weeds and adding organic matter to the soil.
WINTER - The plants enter a dormant phrase. The selected paddock are planted with healthy root stock annually.
SPRING - Fertilizing and weed control are the primary tasks during this season. While the lavender is budding, hand weeding takes place. The whole field contains about 650,000 plants. The botanical name for Lavender is lavendula angustifolia. Tasmania Bridestowe Estate is the largest privately owned lavender farm in the world.
