CANADA'S BLUEST LAKE? — Garibaldi Lake Hike Near Vancouver BC
We hiked 18KM up Garibaldi Lake and it was so worth it!! What waited for us at the top was probably the nicest green-blue lake I have ever seen.
Garibaldi Lake is 9KM from parking lot to the summit (or 10KM from where you might have to park your car, as the video will show haha) so it's for slightly more experienced hikers. It could take 3 hours to get up.
But you will be rewarded with a beautiful sight. Garibaldi Lake is perhaps the nicest lake I've ever seen, and it has a background of snow-covered mountains that really sets the scene.
I'mportant note if you're hiking Garibaldi Lake: Best times to do it are July to September. Even in June, the lake might be frozen over up top. That doesn't mean you can't do it, but it will be a different scene when you get up there so plan ahead and pack warm layers if needed.
Hope you've enjoyed this hike, if you did, let me know in the comments! I'm always happy to hear from you.
As always, I'm Dan from The New Travel. Thanks for watching!

Birkenhead Lake best fishing in British Columbia Canada
Birkenhead Lake best fishing in British Columbia Canada. The gate to Birkenhead Lake provincial park is now open for the season. The park operators are busy cleaning the park, removing fallen trees and clearing debris from the trails. They should have the park open for the May long weekend. As of now the overflow campground is open for people to camp. Birkenhead lake is known for producing very large Bull Trout. Although Bull Trout are catch and release in Birkenhead Lake you can still fish for them. Always handle them with the upmost care and return them to the lake in a speedily fashion to reduce damaging impacts. The lake also has a healthy population of Rainbow Trout and Kokanee. Kokanee are a staple food for these trophy sized Bull Trout. This being said imitate the size and color of the Kokanee and this will produce large fish in Birkenhead Lake. Fishing Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park
There are numerous good locations to fish Birkenhead Lake from shore. Two of my favorite spots are at the mouths of Phelix Creek and Sockeye Creek. Phelix Creek is located at the North end of the lake and is a short walk from the picnic area. Sockeye Creek is a 35 Minute walk up the West side of Birkenhead Lake. Both of these areas listed will produce Trophy sized Bull Trout, Rainbow Trout and Kokanee. I have witnessed numerous quality fish caught right off of the dock at Birkenhead lake provincial park. The lake also has a paved boat launch suitable for boats up to 18' in length. Hiking in Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park
Wilderness Trail:
A 2-kilometre hiking trail through old growth forest leads to a flat, treed area with views of the mountains across the lake and views back of the day use area beaches. A short section connects with the Birkenhead Lake Trail, allowing for a longer hike or a loop back to the trailhead. Caution Note: The lakeside Wilderness Trail and the Birkenhead Lake Trail: approximately 1.0 km from the trail head at the parking lot, both of these trails cross a 50 metre section of a rock debris avalanche path. Trail users must use caution when crossing over loose rock rubble and may be required to ford the stream. Crossings should be avoided during periods of prolonged, heavy rain.
Birkenhead Lake Trail:
The 8-kilometre trail to Birkenhead Lake Estates at the south end of the lake joins up with Birkenhead Road and Tenas Valley logging road. This trail is used by both hikers and cyclists. There may also be horseback riding on the west half of the Birkenhead Lake trail up to Sockeye Creek. Motorized vehicles are not permitted on this trail.
Goat Lookout Trail:
This 1-kilometre trail on the south side of the valley is a bit rough and steep in places, but offers a view of the lake at it’s end and in the spring and fall mountain goats may be seen on the cliffs above the campground. Cautionary Note: During the spring snow melt (April - June), Phelix Creek water levels rise and may crest the log bridge approximately 100 metres from the start of the trail. High water conditions may require temporary seasonal closure of the trail. Best you otherwise hike the trail in the mornings during May and June.
Birkenhead Lake Fishing Video
Below is a short fishing video from Birkenhead Lake Provincial Park. The video was filmed April 27, 2016. In the video the boys are fishing from the shore at the mouth of Phelix creek. JOFFRE LAKES - THIS IS HEAVEN
JOFFRE LAKES - THIS IS HEAVEN
The Joffre Lakes Provincial Park situated along BC's Highway 99, is nothing short of spectacular. With an epic 3 and 1/2 hours hike that packs in glaciers, forests, waterfalls, valleys and sheer mountain faces.
We haven't even mentioned the 3 lakes yet. The lower, middle and upper lakes get even more impressive as you work your way up the mountain. Just one look of the turquoise waters makes you forget about the sweat and determination made in order to get there.
With hindsight at our advantage, this hike is moderately tame compared to others we have done recently. However, to be able to make a comparison to Joffre Lakes beauty...well that is going to be pretty hard to beat.
If we could repeat one hike over and over again, Joffre Lakes wins everytime.

EXPLORE BC: Alexandra Bridge & Flood Falls
Explore BC Episode #7: Welcome to Alexandra Bridge & Flood Falls found in Hope, British Columbia. Enjoy.
Here's a short little story about this vlog, I've been testing out quite a bit of different picture profiles lately with my Sony A6300. This video I tested out S-Log3 which provides the greatest dynamic range out of all picture profiles but requires higher exposure levels and thus, higher ISOs.
You might notice that there's a bit more video noise than usual; a bit more than I'd like. As a result, I probably won't be using this picture profile again unless I pick up a new lens that is more superior in regards to low light performance.
Cheers,
Chris Daley

Overnight hike to Petain Falls in Elk Lakes provincial park, BC - Shoulder season backpacking
Chef Evan Robertson and I packed extra gear to deal with the cold temperatures expected in the Canadian Rockies during the shoulder season (Oct-Nov). Even also packed extra groceries for episode 3 of our Gourmet Cooking in the Backcountry series. We're still experimenting with the concept, and we have lots of good ideas.
We laced our boots and drove to the trail head near Kananaskis Lake in Peter Lougheed Park. Our ultimate destination is the magnificent Petain Falls. Mount Pétain is located on the border of Alberta and British Columbia on the Continental Divide. It was named in 1918 after Marshal Philippe Pétain - at the time an honored war hero by Canadians as well as by other World War I allies. The name was retained despite the later reversal in Pétain's reputation after his having been Head of State of Vichy France.
The snow-capped mountain can also be reached from Height of the Rockies Provincial Park.
From Peter Lougheed park we hiked to the Alberta / British Columbia border and crossed into Elk Lakes provincial parks. This is one of the newest provincial parks in the Rockies.
We stayed overnight at a decommissioned campground just west of the Upper Elk Lake. The next day we hiked to the falls before heading back home via a slightly different route.
Elk Falls Suspension Bridge, in BC Parks
For more information on the Elk Falls Suspension Bridge:
The Elk Falls Suspension Bridge is the newest initiative of the Campbell River Rotary Club, and is has become the biggest and best attraction on Vancouver Island and perhaps in British Columbia. The Suspension Bridge follows the trails in Elk Falls Provincial Park where you will enjoy a bird's eye view of the 150 foot waterfall.
The area that encompasses the Elk Falls Provincial Park and the Elk Falls Suspension Bridge in Campbell River on Vancouver Island features large pools and two additional waterfalls as well as a substantial grove of old growth cedar and fir trees. A must see when visiting Campbell River.
The trail networks within the Elk Falls Park boundaries are easy to navigate, safe and present amazing features of flora and fauna not seen anywhere else on Vancouver Island.
This amazing attraction is only a few short kilometres away from the community of Campbell River and has become a poster child for hiking, interpretation, bird watching and of course picture taking. Take a stroll through the park you will not be disappointed.
Thank you SuavAir, Stagecoach Media and Timberline Senior Secondary for the production of the video.
Thunder Bay Lookout Bridge Over Pass Sleeping Giant Provincial Park Ontario Canada
Sleeping Giant Provincial Park is one of the Most Beautiful Parks in Ontario Canada and is one of the Most Scenic Parks with a mountain in its backyard is the reason this park was named the sleeping giant.
There is a spot along the highway before you get to the park and if you really look at the mountain from that site it really looks like a Huge Statue Man that is sleeping hence this is the reason they called it The Sleeping Giant, well I cannot explain it, you really have to be there to see it for yourself.
In Sleeping Giant Provincial Park there is a place called the Thunder Bay Lookout Area, this area looks from the back side mountains of the park straight at the city of Thunder Bay, Ontario Canada and it is on a Cliff that is approximately 800 to 1300 Feet High from the Shores of Lake Superior. It is beautiful.
I did this video to give you a sneak peak of what is coming up. So enjoy and have fun and do check it out.
This park is known for its Beautiful Hiking Trails and you really need weeks to really explore this Huge Sleeping Giant Park, there are some Canoe Routes there as well but seek guidance and help from Park Staff regarding Canoeing and Kayaking in Lake Superior especially in late Summer. The Waves in Lake Superior and some places are big as a huge truck.
Beautiful Place for RV and Camping and Van Life and all those interested in going on a road trip. This is a Must See Place in Western Ontario Canada.
JOFFRE LAKES, CANADA
nice hike to Joffre Lakes
Berg Lake trail 2014
The Berg Lake trail climbs gradually alongside the Robson River (a tributary of the Fraser River) for 4.2 kilometres before reaching Kinney Lake. After crossing a steel bridge at the end of Kinney Lake, it is just 2.8 kilometres to the Kinney Lake campground. After leaving the Kinney Lake campground the trail climbs and then descends a small bluff. After descending the bluff the trail splits for less than a kilometre, giving the hiker the option of traversing the flats, which is not recommended in the early summer because of high water, or continuing on in the forest. At the end of the Kinney Lake flats the trail starts climbing up to the Valley of a Thousand Falls. After several kilometres the trail crosses the Robson River on a suspension bridge and enters Whitehorn campground at the 11 kilometres mark. After leaving the campground the trail eventually crosses a second steel bridge. At this point the trail starts a steep climb with numerous switchbacks. Over the next few kilometres, the trail passes White Falls, Falls-of-the-Pool and Emporer Falls. Finally, once above this valley, the trail levels off and dips down toward the river, providing the first glimpses of the Emperor Face of Mt. Robson. After climbing just over 500 metres in 5 kilometres, the trail enters Emperor campground. From here the trail continues on 3 kilometres until reaching the shores of Berg Lake and Marmot campground. If you carry on a further 2 kilometres you will reach Berg Lake campground. There are three popular day trips from this campground, Hargeaves Glacier/Mumm Basin Traverse, Toboggan Falls and Snowbird Pass. At the 22 kilometres mark and 23 kilometres mark there are two more campgrounds, Rearguard and Robson Pass.
