(From Wiki):
Amsterdam is the capital and most populous city of the Netherlands; with a population of 866,737 within the city proper, 1,380,872 in the urban area and 2,410,960 in the metropolitan area. Found within the province of North Holland, Amsterdam is colloquially referred to as the Venice of the North, attributed by the large number of canals which form a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Amsterdam has more than 100 kilometres (60 miles) of canals, most of which are navigable by boat. The city's three main canals are the Prinsengracht, Herengracht, and Keizersgracht. In the Middle Ages, Amsterdam was surrounded by a moat, called the Singel, which now forms the innermost ring in the city, and makes the city centre a horseshoe shape. The city is also served by a seaport. It has been compared with Venice, due to its division into about 90 islands, which are linked by more than 1,200 bridges.

Overlooking the Amstel River, Amsterdam, Netherlands from the Blauwbrug (Blue Bridge)
The Blauwbrug (literally, blue bridge) is an historic bridge in Amsterdam. It connects the Rembrandtplein area with the Waterlooplein area.
The bridge owes its name to a wooden blue bridge that was there from around 1600 but no longer exists and which was painted the characteristic blue of the Dutch flag. It kept the name after 1883 when it was replaced by the spans of a new bridge which is inspired by the architecture of several of the bridges over the Seine in Paris.
The stone bridge has three openings for ships and is richly decorated. The bases are formed like ships bows and on top columns with leaf-motifs, masks and finally the Imperial Crown of Austria. Also the lantern poles have shipping decorations and the lanterns themselves are again in the shape of crowns. The bridge carries a road which is also used by the tramway.

Dutch Startup Plans First 3D Printed Steel Bridge Over Amsterdam Canal
A Dutch startup has unveiled plans to build the world’s first 3D-printed bridge across an Amsterdam canal. It will be the first use of a technique that could become standard on future construction sites. Engineering startup company MX3D said in a statement that the company will use robotic printers “that can ‘draw’ steel structures in 3D to print a pedestrian bridge over water in the center of Amsterdam. The company hopes to kick off the project by September. Amsterdam is world-famous for its seemingly countless canals and bridges.
