A Day on the Lake
There is nothing quite like a day on the lake. Sit on the dock with a book, or take the canoe or paddleboat to start your day. In the summer, enjoy hours of swimming, or perhaps you would rather just enjoy the view and a game of checkers with an ice cold drink......
Nearby Attractions
Several provincial parks are within close proximity. West Shawnignan Lake Provincial Park is about 3 kms away featuring towering Douglas fir trees and a broad sandy beach. Koksilah Provincial Park and Bright Angel Park are must sees with natural rocks and rushing water leading to the Kinsol Trestle. Perhaps Butchart Gardens

Kinsol Trestle Koksilah River walk
Today we walked 4km on the Trans Canada Trail to the Kinsol Trestle. We parked the limo at Glen Eagle's parking lot and walked the 1300m to the trestle. We took the new trail down to the river and walked the riverside trail to the gas pipeline. This made our roundtrip distance the 4km reported.
What a beautiful day! Under overcast skies, we were totally immersed in what can best described as a Scottish mist. It did not rain, but still all the trailside trees appeared to be smiling. They are rife with new growth and appear to enjoy this weather better than what is ahead in the summer heat.
We started the up-island sojourn with a visit to Equine Emporium at Koksilah to pickup some western garb we had ordered. It was disappointing the Bentley could not get away to come with us but maybe next time. Goodonya, Bentley.

Gord Downie: Wic'api Omani - “The Man Who Walks Among the Stars”
This is a brief look at some of what Wic'api Omani (Gord Downie) did for Indigenous Peoples.., in his physical life, here...
One of my longer videos.., but I actually edited out at least half of what I originally had.. and I barely touched on Gord's personal & younger life.. and all of his bands/projects..., but this video is to mainly acknowledge his Indigenous Accomplishments.. and to try and give his Spirit.., his family..., band-mates.. and friends....
.... some much deserved.. respect.. love.., care.. and thanks....
(and please know, that he is alive & well..& pain-free.., in Spirit.. : )
So... no disrespect and.or disregard intended, to the Tragically Hip and/or other band's followers & band-members reading this.... It would probably take a 3 hr. film to even come close, to touching on all of Gord's accomplishments... I focused on Secret Path.., only because it connects to the Indigenous Peoples ..and this video channel.. I hope that everyone enjoys it.. and that any contributors read through this DESCRIPTION completely, to see that I am not trying to profit from anyone.. Chi Miigwetch! (thank you, very much)
---------------
With much respective, appreciation and honour, in making this video..., I thank: Elder Wic'api Omani (Gord Downie) (..in Spirit)...; all of his relations.., band-mates.& other friends...; all the good people involved in helping Indigenous Peoples find reconciliation and healing.., with the wrongs of Residential Schools.., the 60's scoop..,foster homes.., Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women and Children (M.M.I.W.).., Water, Food & Housing concerns on reserves.. and all of the other serious concerns of The People..; SECRET PATH..; CBC..; CityTV..; Canadian Heritage Films..; WE DAY Organizers & Leaders..; ..the Lakota-Dakota People..; the Anishinaabe People..; The Republic Of Lacotah..; National Chief Perry Bellegarda..,WIKI..; MEDICINE DREAM.. (*..and if I missed anybody in my thank-you's and acknowledgements in here, please just message me.. and I'll edit this.. and add you in... I do make mistakes.. Apologies..)...
And many thanks to all the other brothers & sisters who contributed any other video, music and/or photos.. All is borrowed with much respect and thanks... and none of my videos are monetized.. They are made to share, teach, inform and hopefully.. inspire.. (in a positive and peaceful way..) ... and also to try and heal the wounds of the past.., by regaining the true knowledge of our history.., so we can all move on to a better, less prejudiced.., peaceful.. and brighter world.., ..for the next 7 Generations..
Many Blessings & Thanks ... Chi Miigwetch! .... Philamayaye....
P.S.: SECRET PATH band-members & and affiliates..
... Please message me in here.. Thanks / Miigwetch!

Kisenyi Street Kids
According to government estimates, as many as 15,000 children are living on the streets in Kampala. These children have left home for a number of different reasons, usually related to poverty, mistreatment or parental death. Many leave home in their rural villages and go to Kampala to try to make a living in the big city.
On the streets, these children face a great many difficulties. They suffer from sleep deprivation, malnutrition, disease/infection, physical, sexual and mental abuse. Many of the children use alcohol and drugs to help them deal with the harsh realities of street life.
Children are often mistreated by the government, police and by the general public. They face beatings, harassment, rape and occasionally, death. Imprisonment is also a possibility in the government run “rehabilitation center.” This center is well known for its poor care and rough treatment of the children.
Making a Difference in Uganda, along with other organizations, run regular programs throughout the week in Kisenyi, the largest slum in Kampala. Twice a week at the street children’s program, we hand out food, play games, treat wounds and provide basic medical care. Most important, we give the children love, remind them that they are important and work with local organizations to get them into a safe a home with an opportunity for education and a bright future.
Song: Concrete Pillow was written and performed by D Minor. It is an inspirational song about the pain and suffering D Minor experienced when he was homeless, living on the street, at a very young age. His song is bringing awareness to this heartbreaking situation and is giving hope to the children currently living on the street.
This is a video with some of the volunteers and kids that have been a part of the Tuesday/Thursday program in Kisenyi. For information on how you can get involved and make a difference in a child’s life, visit: makingadifferenceinuganda.org
