Bridgetown Barbados town guide
This is a guide to Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados. It is where the ships dock, it has three bus terminals and free public beaches at Carlisle Bay. There is not much to see in the town if you want to shop you might go north to Holetown, see our other film. If you want a beach where it is quiet, you might try Mullins north or Rockley south.
Here on Doris Visits, is where you will find great advice on so many cruise destination ports, because we have recently been there, got the bus, done the tour, and filmed it.

The west coast bathed by the Caribbean Sea as an uninterrupted series of beaches of fine white sand. Palm and coconut trees lining the coastline, gently sloping , well known for its calm clear waters . Paynes Bay is one of the most beautiful beaches. Its success depends on its activities including scuba diving. Barbados offers sheer coral reefs , sponges and colorful gorgonians. Its funds even house some wrecks. Among them is a cargo of more than one hundred meters. In Holetown where the first settlers arrived , you can enjoy water sports. The northern city has a museum of the sea called Fokelstone Underwater Park. It organizes underwater explorations of the reef . Take a picnic on Mullins beach . Nearby is St James Church , the oldest church on the island , built in 1660. See also the Portvale candy and Sugar Museum Sir Frank Huston . The historic town of Speightstown offers beautiful white sand beaches and has the best conditions for swimming. The Caribbean coast , surrounded by villas and luxurious hotels, has two golf courses : Westmoreland, and especially Sandy Lane, the most beautiful course in the archipelago.

Bridgetown, Barbados - Brownes Beach HD (2015)
Bridgetown (metropolitan pop 110,000 (2014)) is the capital and largest city of the nation of Barbados. Formerly, the Town of Saint Michael, the Greater Bridgetown area is located within the parish of Saint Michael. Bridgetown is sometimes locally referred to as The City, but the most common reference is simply Town.
The Bridgetown port, found along Carlisle Bay (at 13.106°N 59.632°W) lies on the southwestern coast of the island. Parts of the Greater Bridgetown area (as roughly defined by the Ring Road Bypass or more commonly known as the ABC Highway),[3] sit close to the borders of the neighbouring parishes Christ Church and St. James. The Grantley Adams International Airport for Barbados, is located 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) southeast of Bridgetown city centre, and has daily flights to major cities in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada and the Caribbean. While there is no longer local municipal government, it is governed as a political constituency within the national Parliament. During the short lived 1950s-1960s Federation of the British West Indian Territories, Bridgetown was one of three capital cities[4] within the region being considered to be the Federal capital of region.
The present day location of the city was established by English settlers in 1628 following a prior settlement under the authority of Sir William Courten at St. James Town. Bridgetown is a major West Indies tourist destination, and the city acts as an important financial, informatics, convention centre, and cruise ship port of call in the Caribbean region. On 25 June 2011, Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison were added as a World Heritage Site of UNESCO.

Calypso Cruises Bridgetown Barbados Snorkeling Excursion
My wife and I booked a day trip with Calypso Cruises when our cruise ship stopped in Barbados May of 2014. Captain Nick and his father are AMAZING tour hosts. This was the best snorkeling trip my wife and I have ever experienced and we spend about 2 weeks a year in the Caribbean. All of the other boat tours were packed with guests and my wife and I had the entire boat to ourselves. It is an amazing boat at that! We were the first ones in the water by over 45 minutes at each ship wreck site and we were leaving for a remote beach as the hundreds of cruise excursion people started to pile into the water. We shot all of this footage on our goPro.

This district on the west coast of Barbados is ideal for a relaxing Caribbean vacation. It was its placement at the edge of a tranquil and clear blue ocean that would see the Fitts district become a predominantly fishing village. Fishing still goes on there to this day, extending toward its neighbouring Paynes Bay Fishing Market. The area contains several reefs and with clear blue waters its good for snorkelling. Occasionally you may even spot a turtle surface.
Sea-Eagle Beach Bungalow is ideal for the persons or couple, or family who are budget conscious but also want the luxury of being on the beach without the expense.
Fitts Village is 25-30 minutes drive from the airport. Fitts Village is a fishing village on the west coast, it has it's own white sandy beaches and stunning blue water. Fitts Village has its own supermarket & restaurants and is within easy access into Holetown and Bridgetown. The villa is ideally located for exploring the west coast and is within easy walking distance to local amenities.

Unparalleled in Barbados and the Caribbean region, Limegrove incorporates a range of local and global retailers in a setting built around three distinctly different courtyards including boutiques, restaurants, delis, cafes, bars, gourmet foods, an art gallery, cinemas, a spa and salon, and a range of special event spaces. Barbados Bridgetown Beach
This is a little preview of Barbados Bridgetown beach which is by far the most beautiful place I have ever been, the water was crystal clear, warm and the sand white. Beautiful place, we had the beach to ourselves for a few hours. I loved Barbados
