Brighton Beach Front Range Lighthouse, Prince Edward Island
The Brighton Front Range is a white square tower sloping sides and stands about 41 feet tall, it rests on a concrete foundation in the waters of Charlottetown Harbor near the Brighton Beach sea wall, in the city of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
The tower has a small lantern with a window facing seaward to show the fixed yellow navigation light. The seaward side of the tower features a vertical striped red day mark.
In the winter of 2000 the Brighton Beach Front Range was severely damaged during a storm surge. During repair work, the top 6 m (20 feet) was removed and placed on the lawn of the adjacent property, while the lower 3.6 m (12 feet) had to be completely demolished and rebuilt from the ground up.
Brighton Beach Front Range Light became the first Prince Edward Island lighthouse to receive designation under the new Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act.
Summerside Harbour Outer Range Lighthouses, Prince Edward Island
The Summerside Outer Range Lights, which began operation in 1991, are the most recent set of enclosed range lights to be established on Prince Edward Island. When properly aligned, the red range lights guide vessels to the mouth of Summerside Harbour, near the Indian Head Lighthouse, from where they can use the Summerside Range Lights to proceed up the harbour.
The two lighthouses are similar in appearance, both being square, pyramidal towers topped by enclosed, square lantern rooms that are surrounded by a simple metal gallery. A white, trapezoidal daymark with a red vertical stripe is mounted on the seaward face of both towers. The front tower is 9 metres (29.5 feet) tall, while the rear tower is 10.1 metres (33.2 feet) tall. As the front tower is located near the shore at the western end of the harbour, its focal plane of 9.3 metres (30.6) is roughly the same height as the tower. The focal plane of the rear range light is 14.8 metres (48.5 feet).

Warren Cove Range Front Lighthouse, Prince Edward Island
This is the front range light of the Warren Cove range lights which guide vessels in Charlottetown harbour, Prince Edward Island. This tower, built in 1907, is located on the grounds of the Port-la-Joye—Fort Amherst National Historic Site of Canada.
The tower was originally covered in wood shingles but received new siding in 2008. The rear light is located about 330 meters to the west of the front range light.

Haszard Point Range Front Lighthouse, Prince Edward Island
This range light is a tapered, wood shingled tower built in 1889, it stands fifty-seven feet high from base to vane. Around 1948 the height of the tower was increased by eight feet, which resulted in the lighthouse having an unusual appearance, as the slope of the upper and lower portion are different. The seaward side of the tower is painted red with a vertical black stripe. The other three sides are painted white. Due to the height of the tower and the modest size of the base of the structure the tower is supported against high winds by four guy wires.
The range lights take their name from the land they were originally built on, a farm owned by the Honorable Francis L. Haszard (1849-1938), who would serve as Premier of Prince Edward Island from 1908 to 1911 and Judge of the Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island from 1911 to 1930.
Location: Located on the east side of the entrance to the harbor at Charlottetown.

Covehead Harbour Lighthouse., Prince Edward Island
This lighthouse was built in 1967, and is located beside the entrance to Covehead Bay on the north shore of Prince Edward Island. The lighthouse is situated right in the dunes of the National Park, and is easily seen from the main road.
The Covehead Harbour Lighthouse is 27 feet in height with a focal plane of 33 feet above the surrounding water, it serves as a coastal light not a range light. The revolving bull's-eyed Fresnel lens in the lantern room emits a white 0.5-second flash followed by an eclipse of 4.5 seconds.
A plaque on the side of the lighthouse describes the Yankee Gale of 1851 which took the lives of 150 men.

Leards Range Front Lighthouse, Victoria, Prince Edward Island
Located in the village of Victoria (Victoria by the Sea), Prince Edward Island, this tower was established in 1879. The white, square, pyramidal wood frame tower stands 35 feet high and has a metal lantern room at the top.
Until recently the lantern room housed two fixed lights and acted as both the Leards Range Front Lighthouse also the Palmer Range Rear Light. However the tower now houses a single rotating white beacon.
The tower is also home to the Victoria Seaport Museum.

Brush Wharf Front Range Lighthouse, Orwell Cove, Prince Edward Island
This is the abandoned Brush Wharf Front Range Light near Orwell Cove, Prince Edward Island. The Brush Wharf Range Lights were established in 1899, and were taken out of service about 1950. After being taken out of service the front range light was moved about 2 km from it's original location. It is not known what happened to the rear range light. As can be seen from the video the structure is in extremely poor condition. People often mistake this structure for an outhouse, and apparently it was once included in a magazine article as such!
The old structure is located about 200 meters from the intersection of the Orwell Cove Road and the Brush Wharf Road, it is on private property.

Big Tignish / Jude's Point Lighthouse, Prince Edward Island
The Big Tignish or Jude's Point Lighthouse was constructed in 1880 and put into operation in 1881. The tower stands thirty three feet high.
The lighthouse was originally located at the entrance to the Main Channel or Tignish Run, which cuts through a sandy beach at Jude's Point. It overlooked the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the northwest shore of Prince Edward Island.
This structure was operated as a rear range light until 1989, when it was converted to a coastal light. The light was decommissioned in 1997 and began to fall into disrepair. It was donated by the Tignish Harbour authority to a local community group and in 2008 the tower was relocated from the harbour entrance to a nearby park where it forms part of a memorial to fishermen lost at sea.

Murray Harbour Range Lighthouse, July 2013
This small tower is the front range light, it was built in 1878 and is located in the community of Beach Point, Prince Edward Island.
The tower displays a fixed red light. This structure stands about twenty-four feet tall, with a vertical red stripe on its seaward face. The companion rear range light stands about forty-five feet tall, also featuring a red stripe on its white tower, and exhibits a fixed red light at a focal plane of fifty-eight feet.
Storm surges in December of 2010 swept the front range light away, but the Department of Fisheries and Ocean (DFO) dragged the tower back to land and left it lying on its side.
Several months later a crane was brought in to place the tower atop a new concrete foundation. Repairs were made to the tower and it has been placed back in service. Currently it is in excellent condition.

Prince Edward Island - The Gentle Island
Ferry Crossing and Point Prim Lighthouse
You can get to the Prince Edward Island - 'PEI' in two ways: the quick and easy way by driving across the incredible 12.8 km long Confederation Bridge or by crossing over the Northumberland Straight by ferry (the same way the Jacques Cartier did in 1534). Since the bridge presented a virtually effortless and uneventful crossing, we opted for the traditional ferry route, which had the added bonus of Captain Al McDonald's company.
The ferry crossing takes about 75 minutes and is a pleasant experience that introduces you to the idyllic pace and beautiful scenery of the island. And if you look real close you will see seals, seabirds and even whales from the ferry.
Just minutes up the road after disembarking off the ferry is the eye catching Point Prim Lighthouse. Historically, it's significant as it is the only round brick lighthouse in Canada, and the oldest lighthouse in PEI. We were lucky to be given a tour of the lighthouse by Julie, the modern day lighthouse keeper. Thanks Julie. Julie not only enjoys breathtaking views on a daily basis but she really knows her facts!
It was a spectacular day both from the grounds outside and from atop the lighthouse. We were spellbound by the gorgeous views.
It's a must stop for any visit to the Gentle Island!
