VK3ZPF activation of Brisbane Ranges National Park
On 22nd February, 2014, Peter VK3ZPF, activated the Brisbane Ranges National Park, Victoria, Australia, as part of the World Wide Flora & Fauna (WWFF) program, and the Keith Roget Memorial National Parks Award (KRMNPA).
This video was taken by Paul VK5PAS (on his i-phone) of some of Peter's contacts on 40m SSB.
Equipment used by Paul was a Yaesu FT-2000 and a 40m rotary dipole @ 17 m for 40m

Brisbane Ranges - Ted Errey Nature Circuit
Hiking the Ted Errey Nature Circuit at the Brisbane Ranges National Park located in Victoria, Australia.
A great short walk with varied terrain. The description says 3 hours but we smashed this out in 2.5 hours. Be careful in wet conditions as the rocks can get slippery. In summer months, there is little shade from the sun so take plenty of water.

The Brisbane Ranges sits west of Melbourne and north of Geelong. For the purpose of this video, we walked the Ted Errey Nature Circuit which took us three hours, including a 30 minute break for lunch.

wild Echidna in the Brisbane Ranges - Savannah Walkabout, Australia
This large Echidna buried himself as he heard me approaching. I waited very quietly for about 5 minutes without moving, and finally he started to come out of the hole he had dug. Notice how carefully he emerges - sniffing the air and listening for danger. I think he heard or smelled me at the end, and went back into the hole.

Honda CRF250L - Riding the Brisbane Ranges in the state of Victoria Australia.
I think this video captures the ethos of the Honda CRF250L. Which is basically 'Ride the roads to the Trails'. Starting out from my daughters house I enjoyed a 40 minute ride along picturesque roads to the Brisbane Ranges National Park which is about 90km west of Melbourne. I searched out the ancient McLeans Highway which runs the length of the Brisbane Ranges. It starts out as wide gravel track but soon turns into a goat track. From the top of the ranges the views are fantastic. It's funny how the video camera distorts climbs and descents making them look almost flat. My descent from the ranges had me putting the bike into 1st gear and riding down the hill using engine braking only. The steepness and the a loose gravel meant that the front brake was not an option. Yet the video footage makes it look like gentle descent. It was nothing of the sort!
About 50 seconds into this video you will see an Eagle that I disturb fly across the track in front of me!
